Seems to me that a 27" iMac i7 would be $2000 including tax. Where student discount is $2500 including tax. Hard to believe.

That is hard to believe because ADC discount is $2180 including tax.

I'd be hard pressed not to purchase a MBP or something with that sort of discount.

That design isn't too Apple like. Seems pretty amateurish.

Someone on BGR posted that the background image was the same/similar to a generic wallpaper design.

GalaxyA

I was the one who posted that! I recognized it immediately from an iPhone wallpaper that I used to have. Also that design is terrible. Pretty sure that's a built in snowflake shape with an ugly drop shadow. Don't even get me started on the ribbon.

Also this is in no way consistent with Apple's recent ads, which focus on simplicity and clarity in their brand's logo representation and contrast of objects and texts against white backgrounds. Not the watermarked unrecognizable non-iconic pile of garbage that is this ad.

Darn! Crew, look at the ribbon, its the worst chop-job I've ever seen. Absolute fake. 100% fake.

The art design is so inconsistent with Apple it's ridiculous. The bullets and the font at the top are not at all Apple style, the non-bold font at the bottom is even more different from Apple style, Apple never says anything like "NEW" in caps before a new announcement, and Apple absolutely would never use an exclamation point in an ad like this.

Of course, the discounts themselves are so unrealistic that this is all a moot point.

Also, if the iPhone and shuffle aren't included in the discount, they wouldn't say up to 30% off ALL iPods.

Unless Apple is counting 0% in that "up to 25% off" this ad is fake. Apple never gives discounts on "all Macs".

It'll be discounts on the iMac and MacBook, and possibly just select models of those, just like other years.

Nope

This looks like nothing Apple would ever design. Sorry! ;) I wish it were true though...

I agree. The phrasing at the bottom doesn't make much sense either. Apple always refers to the iPhone simply as 'iPhone', not 'Apple iPhone'.

Also, if you look closely they've written it as 'iPod Shuffle' - I know it's only a very small thing but I don't see them overlooking something like capitalising the word 'Shuffle' when the product's proper name is 'iPod shuffle'. Apple's always been rather anal about consistency, even over something like that.

I call fake, too. Just like everyone else.

25% off the entire Mac line really tickles my fingers. Might be able to give my parents a MacIntosh. Hopefully they won't run out of Minis and/or the whole load of people hitting refresh on the Apple Online Store won't crash it :p

However, Eidorian brings up a good point, Core2 is still Core2. I'm guessing this is mainly to expand Apple's Mac users to people who normally wouldn't buy one of those machines.

Read carefully...."UP TO 25% off"...that's a big qualifier. Even if this rumor is true they can take off 3% on most models and 25% on just one model and meet the requirement of the poster.

The numbers actually make some sense.

Whether or not they are true. Obviously the document could be a fake, but targeted pricing to these discount levels is possible.

For example the Shuffle is way overpriced, discount that 30% and the add is meant. For the Mac the same pretty much applies for the Mac Book. The hot sellers would take a smaller discount.

Does this deal happen in ireland because if it does and the high end mbp 15 gets down to €1489 i'll get that lol!!

This is not only a fake, it's a really bad one. I can't believe it's fooling people.

Item 1: "Up to xx% off all XX." That doesn't even make sense. You can't have "Up to" off "all," only some. The correct phrase would read "Up to xx% off XX." I'm 100% sure Apple's copywriters know that too because they are some of the best in the biz.

Item 2: "Deals applicable..." Apple is not going to use a cumbersome word like "applicable," in an ad. That is a word for a contract, a license, etc. Some kid is being too smart for his own hoax.

Item 3: "Up to 15% off all...Apple hardware." Um, last I checked Macs were considered hardware so this would conflict with the "Up to 25% off all Macs." bit.

Item 4: "Not available on Apple iPhone." The iPhone is an iPhone, so Apple wouldn't exclude it from an iPod sale since it's not an iPod. It has iPod features, but Apple has never marketed as an iPod. That is why they have the Touch.

So you guys fooled by this mess can keep dreaming if you want. Apple will likely offer it's usual 5-10% off on iMacs and laptops.

If this is true. I'll be the owner of a brand new macbook and/or i7 iMac, a week on Friday. Unfortunately it is far more likely to be up to 10% off. Oh well I'm going to hope that this is true, even though it is unlikely.

Yeah that was a good catch. Once you posted that image, I knew it was fake as fake could be. All of your points are dead on. This looks like come crap a third grader would make. Certainly not from Apple.
