Working at the FCC must be the most boring job in the world... I would love to write those reports.

Nice find! Although I'm still kind of disappointed to see the design hasn't changed from the image they showed 6 months ago. It still looks nice, but like others have said, lets hope it isn't the same earpiece as the standard apple headphones as they hurt the hell out of my ear. And also let's hope the price tag isn't anywhere near $150 cause that would put the price of the phone w/ BT at $798.75 in Ohio. Maybe they will surprise us all and include it like they used for all the accessories for the original iPods.

Agreed.
At the current asking price, it really should be included.
But, Apple is in the money-making business and that ear piece will be sold separately for ~$150.
Besides, it's simple math really.
$150 x "how many millions did they hope to sell this year?" = a TON of $.

Figures!

I've always wanted a bluetooth headset!

I dont know, but isn't this ALSO an ipod?

Not sure how this work well with the overall operation. Meaning, am I to carry around 2 headsets? One for stereo music and one for the phone calls?

I suppose for people who will just use this as a phone, the one ear headpiece will work just fine.

But I think I'd rather have headphones that acts like stereo headphones and a phone headpiece, regardless if it's wired or not...

The wired earbuds included with the iPhone are exactly what you describe. They have a microphone on the cord so you can use them for music and phone calls.

Personally, I'll be using the bluetooth earpiece only when I'm NOT listening to music.

For a $500-600 phone, I doubt even Apple would charge $200 for this headset. Even $150 seems excessive.

I dont think we will see it bundled but I do think we will see a reasonable price. I am guessing $100 to $120 for it. That is more than enough. Afterall, these can be had for about $50 from other companies. Even $100 is getting to much.

Its not about how much money can we make off this? its about what price will generate the most revenue? ...that price is going to be price most consumers will pay. For Apple, it is my guess that people are generally willing to pay top of the line plus about 20%, or at least that is what I would pay.

Unless it held on via other means, it won't work for me. I'll constantly be knocking it out brushing back my hair absentmindedly, etc. I like it though - but I'm a bit clumsy.

I loathe earbuds. I've had every generation of iPod from the beginning, but have yet to use their bundled earphone solution. I did just order a pair of the iSkin Ceruleans, though... stereo and over the ear... much more practical.

Compared with the earbuds that came with my SE phone the iPod ones are awesome! The iPod has been sent to the big electronics paradise in the sky but I use the headphones with the phone every day.

I am not that impressed. Once again apples minimalistic attitude has killed another add-on. Their computers and OS are fantastic, but there accessories IMO are worthless. Everytime I buy the latest great "new innovation" from apple, I end up forcing myself to try to like it and then ultimately buying something else that REALLY does what I need. BT Mighty Mouse - Revolutionary? Took back for a conventional 2 button bt mouse. BT Wireless Keyboard, No real media support, and battery life is horrible. Got a Logitech. (and the ipod earphones have no bass response - exchanged for Sony) I have just come to the realization that apple accesorries really aren't that good. Ironically Microsoft makes excellent accessories and crappy OS for computers.

Also, apple doesn't really make any of their peripherals. I bet you if you open it up, it says "Motorola".

I don't think I've ever seen a thread with so much sarcasm on macrumors before. Keep up the good work! ;)

Here's another photo in case anyone is interested. It looks like some controls are at the bottom of this thing.

Why does everyone think this headset is going to be $150+ ?
The motorola one i bought was $50 at an AT&T store and that was like a year ago.

If it's going to be used as ear buds for the ipod, that going to drain that battery pretty quick

Those aren't controls... it's a microphone.

There is, if I recall, a grand total of one button on the device (as covered in the MWSF07 keynote).

I don't know. This Apple BT Wireless keyboard I'm using is my fourth kind of BT keyboard and probably my last. It's the best one I have ever had. I don't know what kind of battery life you're getting, but so far I'm running on 4 months on my rechargeables and it's still kicking! Every other piece of "Works with Apple" type of keyboard that I tried (and there have been a few - Kensignton, Logitech, etc.) didn't shut off when it needed to, didn't come on when it needed to, lost connection and wasted more batteries than any toy I have seen.

So while there are some peripherals I will agree don't match up to snuff, I don't think the BT Wireless Keyboard should be one of them. Does anyone remember the Hockey Puck "Disc" Mouse? Worse design ever.

You are right to a point. Out of all their peripherals, the keyboard is the best thing they make. The keyboard has good action, but no media buttons or real hot keys. Question: Why don't they have dedicated track keys for itunes. They already have the volume buttons. Would it have killed then to add a forward and back track key? BTW, My battery life is no where near yours. I change batteries like once a month. Funny thing is, I have a MS keyboard connected to a PC that last like 6-9 months.

Oops. You are correct. I remember now the Keynote comments. One button on top for answering and hanging up. It goes to sleep automatically, so no On or Off switch.

Also, here is an image of the stereo headphones. The highlighted area is a microphone and a switch. You can switch to answer or hang up on a call.

I've mentioned this in another iPhone Bluetooth Headset topic, but any idea how the hell you charge it? Too small for a AAA to be in it (like my friend's headset) and I have yet to see where a mini-USB port would be (like on my headset).

Any ideas? Magnetic resonance? That'd be kick-ass.

It could be a small pin charger and a rechargable battery like my other BT, but I think it'll be like my toothbrush with a magnetic dock. If the iphone dock has a spot in the back that'd be nice, I don't have many outlets.
