Just what I was waiting for, the iKazoo.

It is voice activated and voice driven. You can say "iphone what time is it" or "iphone volume up or down, or call Mike" Pretty snazzy. You push the button to activate the voice commands. The voice command is not always on otherwise it would drain the bluetooth to fast.

For a $500-600 phone, I doubt even Apple would charge $200 for this headset. Even $150 seems excessive.

I dont think we will see it bundled but I do think we will see a reasonable price. I am guessing $100 to $120 for it. That is more than enough. Afterall, these can be had for about $50 from other companies. Even $100 is getting to much.

Its not about how much money can we make off this? its about what price will generate the most revenue? ...that price is going to be price most consumers will pay. For Apple, it is my guess that people are generally willing to pay top of the line plus about 20%, or at least that is what I would pay.

the logic is more like..."hey if people can fork over $499 or $599 for a phone, why can't they spend another $150-200 for a BT headset"

but knowing apple, as soon as 8gb flash hardware drops in price, they'll include these BT headsets to increase sales of the higher end iPhone. that's the logic of putting a 120gb hd in a MB Pro but giving a 160gb hd to a MB.

hmmm I wonder if it will works with bluetooth macs also... I hope so...it could come in handy for ichat conversations!

how can anyone be disappointed with Apple's bluetooth headset? Pushing the outside face acts as a button.

Also it's not bluetooth 2, like all the other horrible headsets out there that compress the audio and sound like static (even at $200!). Apple's headset is bluetooth 2.0 + EDR (which means 3mbs). You can't find any bluetooth headset on the market today with + EDR support.

Besides if you don't like the headset don't buy it. There are plenty of crappy full of button bluetooth headsets for the people who are complaining.

I'm soooo Tired of hearing everyone WHINE non-stop. You haven't even used it yet. Seriously this has turned into the complainers forums.

I am not that impressed. Once again apples minimalistic attitude has killed another add-on. Their computers and OS are fantastic, but there accessories IMO are worthless. Everytime I buy the latest great "new innovation" from apple, I end up forcing myself to try to like it and then ultimately buying something else that REALLY does what I need. BT Mighty Mouse - Revolutionary? Took back for a conventional 2 button bt mouse. BT Wireless Keyboard, No real media support, and battery life is horrible. Got a Logitech. (and the ipod earphones have no bass response - exchanged for Sony) I have just come to the realization that apple accesorries really aren't that good. Ironically Microsoft makes excellent accessories and crappy OS for computers.

Also, apple doesn't really make any of their peripherals. I bet you if you open it up, it says "Motorola".

Apple also doesn't make iPhones, or iPods, or Macs. All of the assembly is contracted out, which is why we always get rumors about such and such a company getting an order for 200,000 more MacBooks or whatever.

Personally, I'm pretty happy with my (corded) Mighty Mouse, but I haven't had an Apple keyboard that I really liked since the old Apple Extended Keyboard of about twenty years ago. And don't even get me started on their inkjet printers, which they have very intelligently stopped trying to make.

its VERY small, black, automatically pairs... whats wrong with that? if its 150 or under... I'll buy one ;) or i could get a jabra...however if i did that, I might as well hang the iphone from my ear  :D ;) :p

I have a Moto one that I use with my RAZR and it does voice commands for calling. Push the little button on it and the phone will say..."Say a command" and you can tell it to call whoever. It only does calling commands though. I would expect the iPhone to do all kinds of commands. Anyhow the voice feature works pretty good on my phone so I would assume the Apple one would work excellent.

As far as that headset goes, I prefer the one I have with a little clip that goes behind my ear and holds it on. I would have a terrible time with that Apple one falling out.

omg i hate those things!!! the only people i ever see using those wireless headsets are always modelling on the sidewalk, 'cause they're soooo important and soooo busy... takes a lot of effort to talk and model at the same time... lame...

and they also remind me of those dumb company-contact images with the telemarketer who is SO HAPPY to answer all calls... call now! operators are standing by!

Kinda like this?

This is a Sony headset.

Almost looks the same, has the same 'voice-acticated pairing' feature, and it's US$110. So a pricepoint of $150 for the ABH is about right.

If the picture is correct, meh. Not very good looking IMO. I want one of those earpieces from STar Trek Uhura wore! :D Besides, I've tried Apple's earbuds and they just keep falling out of my ears. I bought earbuds that have a little thing that goes over the ears which really helps. As for price, if $50-100 is the going price for comparable headsets, I can see Apple charging $149-$199 for them. All b/c they have a little Apple on them. Kinda how Neiman Marcus should be called "Needless Markups".

Incorrect, Apple still manufacture macs.

AFAIK the only "Apple assembly plant" left is Cork. One of the reasons I'm hanging on to my G5 duallie is it was made in California, not China. I have learnt to deal with the fact that my MBP was made there. I'm not Sinophobic, but I'd rather not see ALL our manufacturing going there. That's a whole 'nother rant...

Unfortunately, in order to keep prices as low as possible, it is necessary to farm off production overseas. Haven't had any problems with the Core Duo or Core 2 Duo iMacs (10 of each) so far. Seems the overeating issues with the G5's had been the cause the majority of issues with the iMac. No complaints with quality now.

Does the iPhone even support A2DP?

If it does, why wouldn't they release a pair of wireless bluetooth headphones? And if it doesnt support it, again what are they thinking with this release?

can we agree that if apple releases the bt earpiece without an over-the-ear clip, we need another maker to offer the clips as accessories, the way you can buy shuffle covers, etc? whatever the price ends up being, it's gonna be too high to pay if the earpiece pops out when you're jumping on a train, stepping over a curbside drain, or hurrying across a street in traffic. a set of several simple rubber-coated (and thus cushioned) wire clips could sell for $10 or more and be a profitable item for someone.

I just hope that the head piece is stepped up in quality. Everything apple has for accessories to me always feels so dinky and clunky compared to their computers.

My MBP feels expensive. Looks expensive.

My Apple Keyboard bluetooth feels expensive, works like an expensive product would, and by that I mean works 99% of the time. The problem is the Apple bluetooth keyboard was the last piece of accessory that Apple has created that was up to high end market standards.

My mighty mouse while I've had none of the problems everyone complains about (scroll wheel not working, right click not working), mine still feels cheap for a 60 mouse. It might just be that is not that solid feeling and that is why it feels dinkier, but all their accessories to me feel like they are heading in that direction...
