Well.....

had been told in the media and websites, that the late Mr. Jobs let almost 5 years of products in the pipeline, either blueprinted or OKeyed......Innovation worries...? Lets see....

-AppleTV set in the works...sounds interesting
-iRadio....added value to the Apple ecosystem
-Cheap iPhone....getting more money
-iPad mini with Retina display....Not seeing it right now
-Haswell hardware: Progression in the CPU developments brought out by Intel
-New Mac Pro: Nice design. Have to wait to see that take off
-Mavericks: I dont like the name. But shows promise....
-iPod: I see nothing there
-iWatch or the name that device takes: Rumor mill and have to see

But the Apple team have good minds on design, hardware and software. So, lets see patents, for example the hyperlinking sound....

I think the Board are worried by increasing competition, legal pending processes and another factors. But seems to me, they are worried for a sustained cash flow, based, you can guess, in innovative and compelling products...

:):apple:

Not really. Samsung is not making any products thats making me or any of my big circle of friends run out to buy.

Samsung has never innovate anything. All they did and still do is copy Apple.
When innovation stops from Apple, there is nothing left to copy and hence Samsung runs dry. They'll be asking Apple, please innovate once more so that we can copy you.

Part of it is because Apple's mystique is gone.

People used to wait in line to see what Apple is doing next. and they used to do so rapidly. mind you, were not talking revolutionary products...but 'think different' products that are CLEARLY better.
Boom. comes the new macbook (intel wayyy faster than the previous gen)
Boom. comes the new OS X (wayyyy better than windows xp or vista)
boom. comes the new ipod (nano...wayy better than ANY other mp3 players)
boom. comes the new iphone (wayyy better than any phones out there)
Boom. comes the 'brick' notebooks (unibody....the gold standard in notebooks)
Boom. comes the new iPhone 4 (best build quality out of anything mass produced. ever)

That was 2010. it is now 2013. I can't think of anything to that level of excitement in Apple's line up since then. the retina macbooks are close. but then again, it's not far and away better than anything else out there. it's not a 'must-have'a in the dwindling market of sub-$1000 computers and most non-apple/non-creative content aren't even made for the retina display.
The iPhone 5 is pretty much the iPhone 4.2.. the jump from the ipod mini to the ipod nano was miles more 'impressive'...
The iPad mini is basically a peer pressure product - a bandaid stopgap.
The Apple TV is great....as a hobby.. no movements there since 2010... a pity really.

..in contrast everything i listed above from the old Apple, although some may not be 'revolutionary', are all clearly BETTER.
and based on the rumors, nothing's coming!

Thats an easy one! 30m plus android phones a qtr being dumped into landfills. :D

I'm talking about iphones. If apple is selling that many a qtr and their sales are growing what do you think is going to happen?

I get your point. There are very, very few disruptive technologies and few of them can make it to production-at-scale. One of these, perhaps, is Tesla. I still think they are more "automotive" than "high tech", but the stock market seems to think otherwise. Hmm . . . much like Apple, many people actually consider them to have invented very little. But they sure seem to have found a sizable and growing market--and it is one that can provide very high margins relative to their peers.

I'd also class Tesla as 'automotive'

Innovative is a stupid word to be flinging about, it seems to mean something different to everyone, to some it's a bigger screen to others its a whole new product category.

Even in the last 15 years Apple have never been about being first with a product, they've been about refinement, getting it right and seeing what others are doing wrong. like the iPod and iPad, Apple seen the poor Mp3 players and tablets and seen how to do it right. If people don't get that then they will never get Apple, they refine, improve and create the best experience they can and once every few years make a huge jump that gets labelled innovative.

This cacophony screaming for innovation is from the same ignoramuses who think they're brilliant because they point out Steve Jobs didn't invent these things. They don't get Apple, they didn't get Jobs and they'll never get Apple, ever.

company's listening to wall street launch NPD every other day and listen to what experts say people want, this nonsense leads to mutant products like the Galaxy s4 zoom that nobody with any sense or taste will want.

The best products we use, that are part of our lives are the ones that are refined and polished over time, How much essentially has a car changed from the Model T, but it's got where it has by small refinements year after year, in efficiency, in comfort and in safety. When we try to jump too far ahead to quench an appetite for innovation we get sinclair C5s.

Apple will continue to do well if they keep polishing, keep refining and keep being aware of what will cannibalise their own markets and acting first. This is what they have done for the past 15 years and it's what they continue to do.

I have to agree that the pace of development seems to have slowed down recently. Aperture is needing a refresh, iWork, Apple TV and mobile apps don't feel like they get much attention any more. It's not just the big things that launched under Steve that made you feel like apple were consistently moving forward not stagnating.

Do what Microsoft, Oracle and IBM does every couple of years. When you cannot innovate anymore as they did its time to buy buy buy (other companies). :D

2005 boom. comes the new ipod (nano...wayy better than ANY other mp3 players)
2006 Boom. comes the new macbook (intel wayyy faster than the previous gen)
2007 Boom. comes the new OS X (Leopard was wayyyy better than windows xp or vista)
2007 boom. comes the new iphone (wayyy better than any phones out there)
2008 Boom. comes the 'brick' notebooks (unibody....the gold standard in notebooks)
2008 Boom. made the app store the best online app platform out there.
2009. Boom. didn't stop innovating on the macbook front. Improved battery technology, now built into the case.. BEST BATTERY LIFE in a laptop. ever. also, managed to make Leopard a LOT faster with Snow Leopard. All this whilst doing their 'day-job'. new iterative iPhone and iOS.
2010 Boom. comes the new iPhone 4 (best build quality out of anything mass produced. ever)

The iPad mini is basically a peer pressure product - a bandaid stopgap.
The Apple TV is great....as a hobby.. no movements there since 2010... a pity really.

The Galaxy S4 has 8 processors. 8. The iPhone could only fit 2... 4 small ones to keep battery life up during non intensive tasks, and 4 big ones to power demanding tasks. When was the last time you saw apple do THAT level of cutting edge innovation? Say what you want about quality, they may lack in execution but Samsung is not short of their own ideas. Have you ever used a Galaxy S3 or the S4? That thing is HEAVY with exclusive features.
What you said would have been valid during the time of old Apple - 2009-2010...but now? If anything, Apple is now copying Samsung and Android!

its not the IR blasters.

face it with every new phone from samsung, nokia, htc, heck even LG is bringing something new to the table.

take the new moto x for instance, and how its voice recognition software is completely hands free.

the last time apple brought something new to the table was siri back in 2011.

iOS 7 is iOS 6 with makeup on and features such as control center that have been on other phones for years.

Siri is last year bro, and from the technologies you mentioned, I would say none are innovations. And what you don't see is that the iPhone is one of the last smartphone releases of the year, I would hope that all these phones are better. But for some reason the IP5 is still compared and on par with them. I'm not saying its the best phone out there, but, it is for a lot of people IMO:D

Sadly no compelling new products (that we know of) are in the pipeline. Nothing that will have a huge impact like the iPhone and iPad did.

as i see it, a product, for being interesting has to provide the user with some sort of contents, music/video/apps, you name it.
for doing so, you need a screen (99% of the times).
sadly though, at this point there's already a device for every screen size:
3-6" smartphones
7-10" tablets
11-17" laptops
20-30" desktops
40-60"+ tvs

everything is already covered, the only one left is the so much praised watch, wich will cover the 1-2" sector. but probably they figured out (or maybe it's just my thought) that such a device is not going to be so compelling for the mass.

as i see it (but i'm definitely not the genius here!), there's hardly a revolution coming in the near future of IT, unless they want to discover that 1% left, and dig into other ways of interacting with devices (eg. voice, just to name one. i must admit though i'm not a fan of this one).

After what Eric Schmidt did to Apple, I wouldn't be surprised if they are keeping the board in the dark about upcoming products.

True innovation is what customers want to buy (apple products) but what customers are forced to buy (windows and samsung products). :D

"sources are telling the Fox Business Network, about the pace of innovation over at Apple."

I'm gonna call shenanigans on this rumour.

Agreed. I don't see the board attacking Tim cook and his team like this. It would be a good way to make talent walk out the door and ruin Apple forever.

apple is doing a fine pace, the issue is they are not adapting to the smartphone market properly, the market is wanting bigger screens and apple is sticking people with 4" only. They need more options and it wouldnt be hard at all for them to do so but yet they seem to be refusing to. I am sure the new iphone will be a 5S with a gimmick fingerprint sensor and will be a big let down for everyone. Give me that teardrop design from a few years back already!

Thats not innovative though, thats just cramming a bunch of processors in a phone thats not even optimized to run with them(i.e why the phone still lags on the daily basis) the iPhone doesn't need quad core processors to run smooth because the os is optimized. I'm not saying i agree with the op or anything but if your going to come with an arguement it's gotta be better than that

Your wrong, look anywhere and you will see people claiming phone cameras will fully replace digital compacts, so to make a off the cuff comment about other phones having better cameras is wrong, because cameras matter to people and the market, it is also thankfully one area Apple aren't too bad at but again they need to keep up with Sony and Nokia etc.

Check out any rumor here about camera on the new phone. Most comments seem clearly underwhelmed.
