I wonder if Apple would reduce their prices in countries where there currency have appreciated against vs. the US dollar to such as Switzerland. I live here and of course this has not happened. Double standard?

Of course not! They did the same in Germany. When the € was stronger than the US-$ the prices stayed the same, but went up when the $ got stronger. I don't mind paying for a product when it's good, but saying that they have to go up with the price because of currency fluctuations is bs. Or they should go down with the price the other way ... then it's fine.

You're talking about the UK (€711) but I'm going to pay €800 for a 32GB, here in Italy. And salaries in the UK are way way higher!!

My current iPhone 5 was €725 in 2012.

They upped the price only by €20 compared to the 6s but still a lot of money.

I do not want to think what would an iPhone cost in 2020.
I'm not sure about other industries but in financial services, the salaries in Italy are a higher than in UK but then of course the things cost more in €. Overall, it's the same amigo. Currency power of sterling has fallen so now it's a lot more affordable to buy the iPhone if you work in US and major EU country (say France) than in UK. As prices has increased by quite a lot due to FX but our salaries have remained the same :-/

And that is relevant to today's Apple how?

The higher prices are due to Brexit (and other factors) causing the value of the pound to drop. So that's not Apple's fault.
Care to explain why it went up everywhere else ?
Especially considering the euro is at the same exchange rate than this day last year. ~1.12 USD for 1 EUR.

$1569 in Australia for a 256GB / $1419 128GB 7+

Plus Apple Care. On par with a medium-high end laptop, 65" 4K TV. Ouch.
Back to the day I bought iPhone 6s Plus, $1529 128GB option. Sees current price...

I only want to say: **** you apple. There will only be a few years away before Apple raises their iPhone price over $1800, more expensive than most PC nowadays.

Prices of all Apple products have gone up by 20% in UK. That's a massive increase. Being punished for Brexit and EU tax ruling!
But finally, who is the one actually being punished? Customer? EU nations? I presumably assume Apple is not so powerful to "punish" a country by spiking iPhone price.

Apple Watch prices also up. I was all set to get the Stainless Steel Watch with Link Bracelet at £860, but now it's £1000.

Firstly, it didn't go up everywhere else. Secondly, the fallout from Brexit is not confined to UK shores but will be felt worldwide. Exchange rates are not the full story, nor should be viewed as the only metric for understanding price increases.

I just checked, an iPhone 7 Plus 128GB + Apple Watch with Link bracelet would cost £420 less in the US than UK. I wonder how much an airline ticket is, hmmmm

Yeah, it says a lot when you could fly to the US, buy the phone and watch, and it'd probably still be cheaper than buying in the UK.

They could have kept prices down with the tax savings they've made over the years in Ireland!

Not defending their price hiking here but is that for a Series 2 Apple Watch or the Series 1? I don't know if the S1's have had a price hike compared to the prices prior to the keynote?

uhhh... care to elaborate? To be FUD, you have to be talking about the future, and the only time I did that is when I said customers won't like a significant price increase. Seems pretty non-controversial to me.

Certainly not FUD and I agree.

But the price increases will be across the board in the UK. OEMs with already near-zero margins will be forced to rise prices as well or exit the market altogether (brexiting the market?)

UK people are going to get used to pay more for tech, that's a certainity.

I wasn't planning on upgrading this year as I'm quite happy with my 6 plus and I had already decided that my next computer will be a custom built PC rather than an Apple product. These price increases have just solidified my position.
Apple will need to come out with something incredibly special in the next year to convince me to stay with them and pay their UK/EU premium.

Just wait until the new MacBook Pro's launch in the UK. I'm betting at £200 more than current models.

Given the high margins on Apples overall product range, they could have eaten any exchange rate dips. They're just like the oil industry. Quick to raise, but slow to drop prices.

Good job I didn't have any interest in this years model, partly because of another year on my mobile contract.

They sort of are, at the current rate they're still losing £10 per sale over what they made last year.

Have you factored in sales tax and import tax if they catch you coming back into the country with those purchases though?

I'm not sure where these numbers come from. I bought the 6s (128GB) last year on release date, and it was £699 in the UK (I still have the receipt) - the same as this years price for the 128GB iPhone 7.

If it's too expensive, don't buy it. This stuff isn't life-saving medicine. I find Apple's pricing way too expensive for me of late so I still have my 5S no matter how much I would like a larger screen. A few more quarters of declining sales may shake things up at Apple, and one or two disastrous ones should quicken that, so I advise people not to buy this stuff, end of story.

The only product i will be getting is the AW2. I was planning on getting the space black.. It was 479 on the previous gen. Its now 549! I might just go down to the standard space grey one.

I'm in the exact same boat. The price jump in the UK is going to make me pick up the cheaper model now, and probably skipping the 7.

Disappointed with the (massive) price hike here in UK as well, no matter what twist is put on it, they've increased the price.

I have a 6+ and it's fine, just seems runs a little slow I think, probably get slower with iOS 10.

I was hoping to get the middle Gb 7+. But it's now a mouth watering £819 here in UK. Again I could afford it, but not sure if there's enough over current 6+, didn't get 6s+ as there really wasn't much at all to me upgrade.

I'm thinking maybe buy a 2nd hand 6s+ 64Gb (enough for me), or maybe the upgrade program that's now available in UK.

On upgrade program would I pre-order for pickup, setup finance and that's it? Then next year, start again, handing in 7? so basically "renting" the 7 for a year?

What are other UK people doing?

Buying new or 2nd hand? What model?

Really, the Passport is inexpensive now. Hunt to take a look at one, it feels really nice.

I guess not if you're a MASSIVE app freak.

Its a 2 year loan, but you can start the loan again next year with a new model. Also I think you have to take out a carrier plan as well with it, not just sign up and take the phone.

I have a 64GB 6S. Skipping the 7, as the equivalent iPhone 7 128GB is now £699 which is the same as last years iPhone 6S 128GB, which was the top model. So yeah, they have messed us around a bit. :(

I have yet to pay less due to currency fluctuation. It always increases is all. I wanted to buy the iPhone 7 Plus but I ain't paying an extra penny, it's open robbery. Seems 6S Plus would go another year.
