A but late to post but my email .mac was down yesterday evening in the UK. Certificate problems and passwords issues. It is working fine now. Although once I had a problem on the on my mac I tried my iphone and that seemed fine. Very strange.

100% outage - 100% of members were unable to access mail using an IMAP client. Normal service has been restored.

Has that happened before?

Probably all the local rain blew a fuse ;-)

I said grammatical bastard, not someone's imagination bastard come to life!

Actually, the more I think about it, the less I like the MobileMe name. It's very narcissistic. Totally feeding into the idea that the world revolves around the individual. Me me me me! I want this! I want that! Me me me! Make everything about me!

Mac name isn't going anywhere

The name Mac isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Its just Apple makes more products that are PC compatible so it wouldn't make sense to keep the name .mac if the service applies to other products than just the Mac. That would cause alot of confusion. Also I like the name Me or mobileme. I think Apple is on to something here. Imagine if I could sync everything together. Your PC at work to your iMac at home to your macbook/iPhone/Touch if your on the road. You can access any file anywhere. Or you can take a picture or video anywhere and send it to you web gallery, webpage or youtube. Plus it offers push email, contacts & calenders! I would pay for that! Also I think Apple is having problems getting record companies to allow music downloads over cellular networks so this could also be a way around that. Plus I read somewhere that Google partnered with Apple on this so Google Apps will be available. You might be able to even keep your gmail address. At first i thought this was gonna be a push email service like the Blackberry connect but I think Apple is going for more of a mobile lifestyle with their me service. The Me is more personal not just corporate. Its for the everyday person who has an life online. Apple is make the internet more personal!

There's already a MobileMe-but a Windows product:
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=mobileME+multi-edit&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

The company that uses MobileMe have used it before 2006 it seems-and I hope Apple would license the name to avoid any [potential legal issues (even though Apple's trademark is different in the trademark class).

Plus there's a web-enabled connected services suite we will be releasing using that name.

So "Me" is a better name.

Unusual for Apple to not redirect MobileMe.com.

.Mac says it all. Why would Apple want to change that? It makes no marketing sense.

With you rolling your eyes at the end, I am not sure whether you are being sarcastic or not but I do agree with you

If Apple wants to change parts of the .Mac service or introduce something new, please do as I love most of their new products.

But please, keep the .Mac email addresses as they are really the staple of your company, imo
