It's too bad Steve isn't here to see this come to life.
Yes. This is what Ive said in that New Yorker profile.

“This is something that Steve cared about passionately,” Ive said. “There is a bittersweetness here, because this is obviously about the future, but every time I come here it makes me think of the past as well—and just the sadness. I just wish he could have seen it.”

I have a feeling Ive is so personally involved in this project because he knows Steve would have been we're he still alive.

Supposedly the theater will be complete for the iPhone 7 launch this fall. The big donut completes next year.

Sure many feel this way. Woz has been through the campus and loves what they are doing with it. I'm sure he will be there for the opening as a founder and fellow.

Has the company said which teams are moving to the new campus and which ones are staying at IL? I think the only thing made public, via that New Yorker article is that the design teams will be occupying part of the top floor in the new building.

I've never seen a space ship shaped like that.

Isn't actually mostly any UFO designed like this?

I keep wondering how this guy gets away with flying a drone over private corporate business, in between construction cranes, violating the privacy fencing and not get sued? Wonder if he is in cahoots with one of the construction companies and is using it as a cover for shooting these? "Just taking video of our cranes at work here!"? Its a cool video, just wondering how he gets away with it.

Yeah?

Hope they strengthened the floorboards.

Just out of curiosity, how many employees will work here? The place seems huge!

At least ten, I should imagine, if not more.

Maybe, maybe not. They're unidentified.

It needs two warp nacelles connected to it. Maybe have a hull to connect the saucer section to it and place a sensor dish in the front of the hull. The bridge could be located on top of the saucer section with a view screen. Then have perhaps Tim Cook's office chair in the middle of the bridge for him to conduct tactical meetings with this staff.

When they finish it, Cook will return to his homeworld. :D

I'm sure that is a work in progress. The goal is for the new campus at the center of operations. One line that I have heard is "If you work The Loop you are moving to the new campus." The vacuum in the The Loop is filled by staff working elsewhere along Da Anza. I'm sure there will be exceptions. They are keeping The Loop as Apple owns it instead of renting and to preserve Steve Jobs working spaces.

I have been around big moves like this with other companies. Typical moving transitions occur top-down with executives and executive support staff moving in first working the place and approving final locations. Then the hierarchy is rolled in 'till anyone without a manager responsibility moves in. From what I have been told, it is not going to be a blitz with everyone rushing there all at once (that is common in central Europe and Japan) but it will take months.

I'd seen loads of pictures of this thing, but had no idea until watching this how HUGE the place is! It's like CERN for god's sake! They really do have an awful lot of cash don't they?!

It's really coming together! Does anyone know if it will have a store inside like their current campus? I'd love to be able to go inside and at least see parts of the building from within.

It would be really neat to work there someday. I'm probably not good enough of a designer yet, and from what I've read their culture really works people to death and I value a work/life balance with my growing family. Maybe someday both of those will improve and I'll wind up in Cupertino.

A traditional Apple Store will be across the street at Pruneridge and Tantau Ave. They haven't started building it yet but the old buildings have been knocked down.

Why do people refer to this as a "spaceship" design. Have any of these people ever seen a spaceship? Has anyone ever seen a spaceship.
google: flying saucer

51 facts about the new Apple campus

How big is Apple's new campus?
1. The new Apple Campus will be set in a 2.8 million-square-foot area.

2. That's a 176-acre site.

3. It will house more than 13,000 Apple employees in one building.

4. The building is more than a mile around.

5. There will be 300,000 square feet of research facilities and underground parking.

6. In May 2014, Apple leased 290,000 square feet of new office space in Sunnyvale known as Sunnyvale Crossing. It is thought that this additional space comprises seven buildings and will provide room for around 1,450 workers. It is located near to the new 'Spaceship' campus as well as the current 'Infinite Loop' campus.

Does anyone know how many workers there are on that site on any given day? These videos I must assume are done after working hours because there is so little going on. It's incredible to watch how this building takes shape so quickly. When you think about every nut and bolt and weld that needs to take place it's impressive.

Looks like a really neat building.

I wonder how much it will cost per day to keep it running. Can't imagine the type of pressure it will add to the company's need to grow to maintain it.
