Still say it's been out long enough that people know. Even those outside of the US. At this point if you got an iphone even outside of the US you know how to use the internet.

All you have to do is look at their past release cycle to get an idea when the next one should be out. Last year was an odd move but even then this is June so the question is do I hold off and hope it's 2 months away or do I hold off for 4-5 months. That's the question people with 3G/3Gs/4 are asking now even on this board.

At this point in the game. If I'm going to reup a 2yr contract I'm waiting, even if that meant I had to buy a cheap go phone till release.
You're at an Apple-focused site: of course you know. But look at the people who buy iPhones: I suppose only adolescents really look at that - and there are a lot of older people out there who will only find out about a new iPhone when it is announced by Apple. They don't know anything about "cycles".

Come on: even Apple said in the past that iPhone sales go must sharper down than usual when a new iPhone is announced.

Maybe but all I know is I had a few people around the office ask me about the new iphone and these are people who aren't computer literate at all but know enough that apple makes 1 phone a year.

Doesn't matter to me it'll come when it comes. I just not sure about that taller design. I rather have taller/wider. I really hope iOS6 gets a major over haul. If not I may give the SIII or Note a try. I am excited to see what the new design will bring

I'm in IT so the larger screen comes in handy

Question Is...

How will they test a new OS that is made for a bigger screen, on a 4S that only has a 3.5" display?

That's when you run into problems.

That's the burdon of fragmentation. Unless they plan on making iOS 6 compatible with only the new iPhone, then they will have to make two versions of iOS 6, one for the older models, one for the newer model with a larger screen.

Same goes the other way- if they do plan to sneak attack us with a new phone in the summer and keep iOS 5, they still need to tweak iOS 5 to work on a larger screen.

That's all assuming there even is a larger screen.

I think WWDC this year will be

-New MacBook Pro
-OS X Mountain Lion
-iOS 6
-iCloud
-Some Apple TV related thing (new UI or App Store)

new iPhone? Nah...think it will be in the fall.

They already do this. They develop multiple versions of iOS already: one for the iPhone 3GS, one for the iPhone 4, one for the iPhone 4S, one for the original iPad, one for the iPad 2 and one for the iPad 3.

For example, you can't install the firmware that runs on an iPhone 4S, on an iPhone 4.

That's true. But every iPad has the same screen size. Every iPhone and iPod touch have the same screen size too. I think a big part of the hassle would be catering to that. There are unique versions of ios now but for the most part it's just taking away a feature (like the phone app on the iPod version of ios).

Well, all we can do now is simply wait what Apple will do. In seven days we'll know. And if there's no announcement in seven days, than we'll know by this fall. :)
