Maybe the post that this screenshot refers to got lost in translation in the US as to what the Shrine of Remembrance is, but if it were the US Marine Corps War Memorial, the post would've got pulled down without any hesitation.

To the person who made a derogatory remark about the Shrine of Remembrance, you're disgusting.

Apple's response to anything that's too hard "cancel it".
Well their demolition permit was denied and the Yarra building was put on a historical registry so I think that project is officially dead. “No means no.”

What would you have Apple do?

Maybe Angela Ahrendts could roll into the site at night on a bulldozer and knock it down on her last day before leaving Apple :)

You should ask the 300 MILLION or so people who have bought on the new Apple products in the past year. We're enjoying life made better with great Apple products, (just love my new Mac mini!) while a tiny fraction of the world trolls on Apple all day. Winning with life! Come on over to the positive side, it's a lot more fun. I promise you where Apple builds a store in Melbourne won't impact your life.
I’m SUPER glad everything is just peaches and cream in your life. It’s not like that for everyone out here.

Enjoy!

Not perfect, just way better to enjoy life as much as possible, and the wonderful, but imperfect, tech that Apple provides that can enhance some portions of our lives. Much better than living a life focused on negativity. I know people have issues to work out, but spending so much energy and time trolling on some company every day is sad, and that's not referring to the honest criticism and objective discussions, just the trollers.

Nevertheless that section of Melbourne is very precious, popular and very valuable to the locals so it's better to stay as it is or used to attract more tourist in many other ways.

Not a resident of Melbourne but this sounds like a good thing. Similarly, Stockholm recently blocked a planned Apple store (which again I’m not a resident of) in an important central communal space in their city. I’m a bit uneasy about Apple doing this sort of thing.

I am a resident of London (or more I work in it) and Apple on Regent Street (which was built expressly for upscale shops 200 years ago & which it still does) and Covent Garden piazza (which again is home to upscale shops) both seem to be prestige locations for Apple in areas that have commercial focus & thus the shops suit the areas.
