PSA: Do NOT hack your car. If it bricks after a software update, you'll be really sorry.

If you really have a Tesla, I might sell mine. I had no idea it could be this bad ?and your inability to understand context clues is equally remarkable.
my point still stands.
If you really have a Tesla, I might sell mine. I had no idea it could be this bad 🤣
I have two other non-Tesla cars, it’s just my daily driverstans would never sell
That might happen next time there’s a stock split. There’s not a chance Tesla’s stock falls that low. They have everything in their favor right now - margins, production capacity, and demand. When Tesla shares fall below $100, folks will be pointing to this as an example of Tesla’s hubris clouding good business decisions
I’d agree with you, except for Tesla’s system right now. And some CarPlay integration is absolutely terrible for some integrations. Their map interface without pinch to zoom is beyond frustrating. Teslas navigation experience is so much better. If I were in the market for a new car, and there's no CarPlay + Android Auto = AUTO SKIP.
Yeah but now they don’t want to pay Apple’s or Google’s Licensing fees to use their software now. BMW will have you pay to use CarPlay later on this year and we all know Tesla won’t ever do it from when Apple ever since they turned down from that loan hahaThey tried that and failed. That’s why they caved and most cars have CarPlay and Android Auto today.
If I were in the market for a new car, and there's no CarPlay + Android Auto = AUTO SKIP.
I didn’t know this. Probably because the Tesla handover ‘experience’ is “we’ll just check we’ve got your money. Super. Here’s your key; your car’s over there. Bye”.My apologies if you already know this, but you can load all of those same files onto a USB stick and play them from the car interface under Media Player > USB. I think that would be a cleaner solution then playing local music files from the phone, personally. Higher quality sound without the Bluetooth re-encode, not running down your phone battery, etc.
I've come really close to selling my 2015 Subaru Outback because of its lack of CarPlay. Finally pieced together a really great phone mount (Proclips>screwed-in Ram Mount Magsafe holder>Magsafe charger), so I'm actually fine without it. BUT, I still look forward to the day I need a new car and can finally just have wireless CarPlay. If I were in the market for a new car, and there's no CarPlay + Android Auto = AUTO SKIP.
Audible. Podcasts that remember where you left off. Navigation that gives you a choice of routes, shows traffic lights and stop signs, easier to follow instructions while navigating (i.e. shows which lane to be in for an upcoming off-ramp), correct accurate navigation to a specific address (Tesla has led me to the general vicinity of multiple homes while Apple Maps will lead me right to the door).Honestly, if I had CarPlay on my Tesla, I wouldn't use it -- and I love CarPlay. I'm open to suggestions of why I'd need it, though.
Several years ago I used to think similar to this thought. I thought that when, GM, Ford, Toyota and others started building EVs that Tesla would be finished. Well all of the big makers are bringing out EVs but they're still playing catch-up. Apple hasn't even shipped a car yet. Doubt what you say will happen in any timeline approaching what you're suggesting.(Musk, you’re going to lose the battle no matter what. Apple’s going to destroy Tesla in matter of months when Apple releases their car)
I trigger my Apple Watch by raising it and then ask it to resume Apple Podcasts where I left off, so I have that covered. Fair point for those who use Audible, and I agree the Tesla nav could have some features added that other mapping services have. Lane guidance would be awesome. I'm surprised they don't have it, since it's based on Google Maps which does.Audible. Podcasts that remember where you left off. Good list. I'll add that the podcast ability of the native Tesla system sucks. It's OK usually. But both apps (Spotify and the native one) have lots of bugs. Sometimes Spotify will be playing a podcast from three days ago but show that it's playing today's episode. The Tesla app will frequently start an episode from the beginning when you get back in the car.

With this solution you can easily use both. I have a Hansshow display (and have had two other CarPlay "solutions" so far) and use both systems fairly easily.I think people don't want to admit that this is absolutely accurate. They're not going to offer a competitor's in-car software when they've already started monetizing their own in-car software...
Premium connectivity for Tesla (which is $9.99 a month or $99/year) includes:
Live Traffic Visualization Sentry Mode - View Live Camera Satellite-View Maps Video Streaming*⁺⁺ Caraoke* Music Streaming*⁺ Internet Browser*
They're not going to allow CarPlay or Android Auto in their cars when those competing services (which are free) offer some of the same things you'd need to pay for with Tesla's subscription model.
I'm not the biggest fan of Tesla's UI but i've been able to deal with it after having my M3 for 2 years. I've just accepted that i'm never going to get CarPlay at this point.
I appreciate your perspective since you've actually used CarPlay in a Tesla. You're one of a select few. I hope they add it in the future, I'd at least give it a whirl. With this solution you can easily use both. I have a Tesla and want CarPlay. Your statement is now incorrect. You aren’t wrong. The only ones saying Tesla sucks and car play rulez in here are those that don’t have a Tesla. They really want daddy Apple to dictate every minute of their life.
lol seems like you don't know all the extra tech a tesla provides other than some music and a map. The tesla OS already has every feature they provide plus more.If I were in the market for a new car, and there's no CarPlay + Android Auto = AUTO SKIP.
Months? It'll be years (if ever).(Musk, you’re going to lose the battle no matter what. Apple’s going to destroy Tesla in matter of months when Apple releases their car)
We have a mustang Mach E gt and the wireless apple car play Apple Maps does exactly that (calculates routes and waypoints based on charging needs… even after the fact). This works on compatible EVs. I will say the Mach e has an amazing UX as well. I have the option to use CarPlay or not. More consumer choices are better not worse.LOL on the apologist comment. I’m not. But I’m a user of both apple and Tesla (I guess we are all apologists then?). Believe me, plenty of room for improvement on the tesla UI. But unless Apple Maps finds a way to calculate routes based on my current level of charge and how long I need to stop at a charger etc. Apple Maps isn’t that useful to me. As for using music, reminders and pretty much everything else, “hey Siri” works fine and I never need to look at my phone. I like CarPlay on my other vehicles. I just don’t feel that I need it on my tesla.
Does it trigger battery conditioning for faster charging? We have a mustang Mach E gt and the wireless apple car play Apple Maps does exactly that (calculates routes and waypoints based on charging needs… even after the fact).
