Citizens should run the latest iOS on their devices at all times.

The only exception is in cases where there are serious bugs or performance problems, in which case Apple shouldn't have released that version for that device anyway.

Deliberately running an old iOS version on your device makes no sense. It is a deviant behavior and likely to arouse suspicion of your other "activities" amongst your peers and the authorities.

Good one.:)

The people reacting to this as a serious post need to activate their sarcasm detector app.

I downgraded to 7.1.2 and am now about to perform other activities e.g. Listening to public radio while having a good w--k.

Glad to see the OS version the 5s and 5c, still being sold, came out with can't be restored anymore, at least officially, and for now.

Who cares? Really.

Well the features on old o/s' mostly work. That is something to be thankful about.
Generally/mostly. But, for example, they really should have addressed the whole SSL security issue and the resulting FaceTime certificate issue for those who were still on iOS 6 and didn't want to upgrade to iOS 7 (for whatever reason), especially because it was their own fault for having those issues to begin with.

There has to be a reason they didn't address the issue, even if it was their own fault.

The same reason as usual, just move to the latest version as it exists for your phone, even if you don't want that version and in a lot of cases it makes the phone perform worse (for those older phones). There's a reason, just not a good one really (aside from Apple just wanting it to be that way).
