As long as Trump isn't 100% bullheaded towards these deals, this man could make this country some serious money (while lowering the profits slightly of the fortune 500 imo).

The USA is already the wealthiest nation on earth, but all the wealth is hoarded by the top 1%. If those people could find it in their heart to pay workers more and themselves a little less, we would ALL feel like we are worth more and actually have more. Think of the increase in the economy if more people had real disposable income, and not saving pennies in order to pay for food or health bills. Plus, there would probably be less "unrest" in society if we weren't all angry at being so darn poor all the time.

He hasn't even started yet. And not sure what you're defining as "corrupt".

Give the man a chance and see if he falls on his sword.

He's conducting meeting's with foreign heads of State (with his daughter), he's attending national security briefings, he's meeting heads of companies (with his children). Despite what you say - he has started - and his children - who are running his companies should not be attending those meetings - anyone who thinks otherwise is either a moron or an apologist.

I am not "giving him a chance" - I am calling him out on corruption - which this is.

I don't think any hacking handed the election to Trump. What I suspect happened though, a lot of American's personal economy suffered, even though the national economy improved under President Obama. Unemployment might have fallen under Obama, but the positive impact on households in regards to taxes, having a disposable income might have been a negative. Also, the governments stance on repatriating money might have rubbed the business community the wrong way. Come on, 17 billion? That's ridiculous. Apple keeping all that money outside of the US is not helping anyone. Let them bring it all back at a low tax rate, maybe 1 billion. Then let them reinvest in the economy.

Also, the Obama Administration ignored homelessness in the US and I saw it myself when I visited the US a few times. The amount of tent cities I have seen, persons sleeping on the sidewalks, crack heads begging me for $20 was sad. I will praise where its due, he has made progress in areas such as LGBT rights (say goodbye to that under Trump), great orator, economy thrived, lot of innovation, but I think there were some social misses along the way.

Well, the kids are in the transition team, which is NOT a government entity and not an official office. It is possible that - despite what the media said during the elections - the Trump family is very close and in order to better evaluate people he might ask advice to those closest to him.

I think this is friggin awesome. No matter what you think of Trump, at least he's doing something to bring economic power back to the U.S. If Tim Cook wants to be a ******** that's on him. Trump will simply leave him behind and tax the sh*t of our Apple products coming from China.

I love this shift in power. President Trump is going to lead rather than follow.

"Bring economic power back to the U.S" - America is the wealthiest country on the planet by an extremely large margin. What on earth are you talking about?

In what way is Tim Cook "acting like a ********"? Apple, and the tech industry in general, are the driving force in wealth building in America right now. So you want to punish companies that are actually making America great?? Not very bright. The best thing Trump could do is lower the re-patriation tax on monies earned in foreign countries. Something Tim has been asking for for a while.

The money is not "outside" the U.S. It's deposited in banks in Manhattan, and the banks themselves can make use of it for lending etc., so it's not like it doesn't have any benefit. Also, due to the government keeping interest rates so low, Apple can hold bond sales that basically operate as though the government is paying them to borrow since the interest rate on the bond is higher than the interest rate to borrow. That's not exactly a bad deal, right? Free money as a working substitute for repatriating the profit.

This meeting wasn't about transitioning. And, they shouldn't be on his transition team anyway - they're running his companies.

Say what you want about Trump but he at least is starting to get work done and he hasn't even been sworn in yet. Compare that to Trudeau up here in Canada who has been in power for a year and all he has to show for it are a bunch of selfies from around the world
This was nothing more than a "Dog & Pony" show for Trump. For silicon valley it was chance to cry for more H-1B visas and low tax repatriation of foreign cash. That's all. Nothing else of consequence will come of it. It's all theatre.

Let's wait until Trump actually does something, before giving him credit for actually doing anything. We know Trump is exceptionally good at getting the media to pay attention to him; and this hasn't changed during the transition. So far, there's a lot of smoke. I think it would be unfair to expect any concrete accomplishment at this point, so my comment isn't a criticism of him, as much as it is a comment on the credulity of his fan base.

I know you had a good thing in mind, but your post really made me laugh. Unless you're native american, you all are European (or African) immigrants.

I think that was the point overall he was trying to make. That the America's have generally been what they are because of generations of immigration.

Almost everything that North America is today, it's progressiveness, it's innovations, its economies, are all products of immigrants and their families.

Somehow, amongst conservative minded people, the notion of "Old Stock" somehow makes you more important to the nation is disturbing. IN Canada, Harper tried to run a campaign based off calling people "old stock" v "new stock" Canadians. it backfired royally. North American culture si too much an amalgomation of worldwide cultures and people, that trying to play divisive lines between old and new is dangerous and quite terrifying

That isn't how government is supposed to work. If someone doesn't agree with the government they shouldn't be singled out and punished for it. That is how you end up with a dictatorship.

It had nothing to do with getting singled out. Trump is going to change the rules for EVERYONE and it will be up to Mr. Cook to follow them or pay the price.

Maybe Tim can teach them why putting back doors into your OS is neither a good anti terror tactic nor a good way to try to sell you tech to the test of the world. Duh.

The tech sector is investing heavily in R&D - this money will have no impact on that. The money will be re-distributed to the stock holders, I suspect most are wealthy individuals and not the un-employed.

Homelessness has more to do with mental health than economic prosperity.

Right you are. Many Canadians are delusional. Those that are, still apologize for Trudeau. Face it, you elected the Obama of the North, but unlike Americans you actually had years and years of real-life observation of Chicago Jesus and still went for it.

Unrelated to article.

this one photo actually say nothing at all.

I've seen this comment in a few places and I think it's unfair to judge Tim's thoughts on the meeting by a single photo picked from possibly a hundred photos.

There were moments when Tim was laughing, frowning, coughing or cross-eyed (even for a brief second). It's really easy to pick the one that aligns with the narrative and run with it.

Despite his personal feelings, Tim is a business-man first and he seems to approach every situation with a fresh opinion and open mind and if Trump wants to put more American to work, offer Apple a tax-holiday on their offshore holdings and reduce regulations to allow the iPhone to be made here, Tim would very quickly put aside his personal opinions and do what's best for the shareholders of Apple. I think it's incorrect to judge a single photo on how Tim felt in the entire meeting.

Check Getty, AP, Reuters and other image sites that have photos for sale and I'm sure you'll find another photo of Tim cook smiling.

Oh please. Don't fool yourself. Tim Cook and Apple have been abusing the tax system for way too long. He knows it. The look on his face is very telling. It's like a dear in the headlights. Apple is NOT making America great. He's making China great. That's obvious.

If you don't like Trump, that's fine, but don't let that blind you to the simple fact that the chickens are coming home to roost and Tim can either suck it up or continue to destroy Apple like he's been doing over the past couple of years.

Trump is obviously a pro business guy. Lower taxes might bring more Apple jobs to the US. I hope he will help small businesses just as much. Also, negotiate better trade deals. He has a hot head though so I hope he doesn't get into it with China or Russia too much.
