Because introducing an 8GB iPhone 5c and the iPad (4th gen) is the "best work of their lives"
....
Still would like to see product announcements throughout the year, not all at once in September/October.

The iOS ones are now packed into that windows but the Mac ones have consistently have not been. June has lined up with new Intel CPUs for a while now.

January-April has generally been a ghostland though except for adjustmennts that typically should have happened earlier (e.g., 2013: speed bump and price tweel MBP . 2014: retire the freaking waaaaaay old iPad 2. )

That's basically what every review is saying so we don't have to read it. Isn't that what book reviews are for?

"The book reads like one long sensationalist piece with a clear agenda from the start. Kane formed an opinion before she started writing."

This implies that the OP had read the book.

A lot of people on this thread giving opinions on something they know little to nothing about.

So how come it's for sale in the iBooks section?

Because Apple isn't North Korea.

I like Jason Snells tweet: I read this book so you don't have to.

Really, I'd like to read a review from someone who doesn't have a "dog in the fight" - so far the reviews are from Mac invested sites, the Guardian guy loves Apple and has a book of his own he's trying to sell, and the WSJ is just being the WSJ.

Since he fired Scott Forstall, Apple's losing.

I think he should be fired like Steve Jobs was.

Put Schiller, Craig F., Bob on front. I think he doesn't understand the difference between a process and a thread.

Jobs supposedly left behind a pipeline of 3 or 4 years worth of stuff. I'd say you can fairly judge Cook after they get past that.

Apple's weak spot has always been services. They're great with hardware and software so if Tim can somehow make iCloud more robust and do more than sync pictures then there's an opportunity to make Apple more of a platform for other stuff, beyond the usual Mac/iOS ecosystem you hear so much about.
I suggestie he starts by fixing syncing photos before doing something else. iCloud + photos = terrible.

I can see what you're saying, but the counter to that is that the people who know Apple best are people from those sites, and are most likely to recognize the ********. Snell may love Apple but I can trust that he will leave his biases aside.
I hope John Siracusa reads it, I'd love to hear an epic rant of it on his podcast.

Most Apple journalism is sensationalist and awful, and there are ton of journalists out there who would totally buy the narrative this book.

If anything, the new 8GB iPhone 5C proves that Apple is not in decline.
The only thing in decline are the poor people who will buy it and will never come back for more. :p

Steve never would have commented on a book about how his empire is haunted.

"to put their mark in the universe and leave it better than they found it."

Tim lost his mind. Or, Is he talking about the new iSupernova?

How dare Tim Cook speak out in defense of his company in the face of criticism of dubious origin. Punching bags aren't supposed to speak. He should remain silent and allow the criticism to continue unabated.
