I work as an intensive care nurse in an intensive care unit and earned 60.000 last year.

Tim certainly contributed 1233x more than I did.

People are going to complain, but that’s not an obscene amount of money. Considering Apple is one of the top five companies, worth 3-4 trillion, it’s hard to get upset about it
Thats is for him though..
All the ground work was done by the previous staff and Steve Jobs.
Tims just sailed on that success.
So no he isnt worth 1% of that money.

When they start paying all the taxes they owe in my country with no tricks and without being solicited by huge legal actions, he can keep what he wants.
But I would still vote for a law that allows no executive to be paid more than 100 times what they give to the least paid worker in their business. Which, in the case of Apple, would probably be $30000 a month. In that case, I'd love to see Tim add a zero to every outsourced worker's wage so he could do the same with his own.

He certainly did earn it.

Words are pretty nuanced and flexible. They have more than one meaning most times.
"Earns" is very often used to say "deserve".
The first two synonyms on Cambridge's dictionary are "deserve" and "merit".

In this case, of course the article didn't want to judge the merit and was using the word "earn" neutrally just to say he was paid that money. But as many have pointed, there were other words that sounded more appropriate than one that could even suggest for a moment that any human is supposed to be that filthy rich.

Tim deserves this. Apple is doing very well under Tim's leadership. Looking forward to the new category of products that will launch when Tim is at the helm.

We're just built different, 3-4 million dollars and I would never work a jobey job again lol

4% safe withdrawl rate accounted for by growth and dividends and you're living on a pretty good salary, if you need more than that well move somewhere cheaper. But hey I'm no billionaire.
I'm with you. A few million is more than plenty.

Freedom to spend time on things you like doing, see the world.

And why is that? Why can't someone earn as much as they can?
Valid question. Lets examine:
Let's apply this to another type of power - why can't the stronger one just kill the weaker one in a society? I mean - he has the power so he can do as much as that power allows him.

Our society is a contract with the goal to provide value to us all (equally I would say). If unchecked power is detrimental to our society as a whole we put checks and balances on it - you are not allowed to use your physical strength to murder or steal. So why do we allow unchecked fiscal power?

lets just say if I was a shareholder and a ceo multiplies my share worth from 10x ($300B->$3T) i'll gladly pay him that amount, at least he didn't run it to the ground like Yahoo CEOs

Steve Jobs took less pay, Tim is greedy

These 2 have nothing to do with each other and you know it. Crooked comparison.
