I find it odd that so many people are complaining about Cook’s salary even though he’s paid less than many other tech CEOs. Look at Musk for instance: his Board is considering giving him $1 trillion a year as compensation. Cook is a pauper in comparison.

I agree to an extent. I'm all for Capitalism, but we need a modified version of Capitalism at this point. There is no reason anyone on this planet should earn 10's of millions of dollars in one year. I'm also not saying people who do nothing should get free money either. But the people who do work, should all get a bigger piece of the pie.

The issue I have with non-founders making vast salaries is that the decisions are driven by a bunch of people. Yes good leadership is necessary but the best butt kisser in the boardroom getting the throne made by someone else just to make "cultural decisions" seems wrong.
No fix I know of as I am a believer in captialism but it doesn't mean I think there is some system rigging going on.

That Americans in general tolerate this level of insane payout is crazy. The level of inequality in the population is crazy.
There's really no excuse for how we can have poverty in a country that at the same time can afford to pay CEOs like this at this level of insanity.

That's a lot of money just for saying "Good Morning" twice a year in a pre-recorded key note.
So you’re going to switch to a system that’s less secure, less private and is owned by a company whole only reason for existence is to mine as much of your data as possible to sell ads.
Google is nothing more than an advertising company disguised as a tech company. Without ad revenue they’d cease to exist.

You know who else makes a lot of money for doing something people think isn’t worth it? Athletes.
They get paid that much because they’re in demand and if you don’t offer them xx million per year to stay with your team then another team will offer them as much to get them to switch.
CEOs are similar in that successful ones with proven track records are rare. If they’re not compensated they’ll get better offers from someone else. This is why CEO pay is often tied to company performance. It’s the primary way to measure how good they are at their job.
Apple, with its $4 trillion market cap, extensive user base (growing) of customers and consistently rated at the top (or near the top) for customer satisfaction and brand value shows he’s doing an excellent job. Despite all the current and former armchair CEOs here at MR who think they know better.

I'm not sure how people go on about their lives if they are upset on what someone else makes. I am certain that's not the only things they are upset at if that is the case. Our needs and mental focus needs to be directed at things I can do day to day, year by year. If I wasted emotions into this, it would take priority.
That is no way to live.

Absolutely agree. Honestly, am I just stupid naive to think that at some point you could honestly say, "I have more than enough for me and my family for the rest of our lifetimes", and simply give the rest away? And I suppose I don't know that he's not. But it is so odd that we live in a world where one human gets this when there's so much need, so much good that could be done.
