Metaverse looks like some crap graphics like Minecraft, when will it be like Ready Player One?
I posted a video that shows Ready Player One level graphics.

When will it reach consumers? Probably by the end of the decade, somewhere around there.

I've owned two quest VR headsets and they are very impressive. I'm not into the second life thing, but the games and some of the learning tools are outstanding. My kids can journey to the great pyramids or see the moai of Easter Island in great detail from the living room. It's more than Apple has put forward.

Right after these interviews, Tim goes and swims in his money like Scrooge McDuck.

You will live in the pod, you will eat the bugs, you will own nothing and you will like it.

A virtual (fake) reality is only appealing to losers who have nothing going on in life. The incel/Discord/loser market isn’t big and substantive enough to float a scam as big as this

Losers, or the billions of people who have a harsh life in the real world, many of which are still in first world countries.

Whether you agree with the ethics or not, you can't argue that there isn't a huge market for escapism.

I recommend looking at the twitter account @PessimistsArc.

It has countless newspaper examples of middle aged or elderly folk rallying against technologies going back almost 200 years. This is a never-ending cycle of luddism and countless examples where every technology we hold dear today was rallied against.

The fact that the tech won out doesn’t mean they were wrong. The fact that we hold it dear today doesn’t make it good for our species or this planet.

I’m not a Luddite, but I’m quite skeptical about whether this ends well for us.

Eventually I think people will tire of it. It's the same exact stuff as reality but repackaged for resale. Another form of escapism and fantasy until reality intervenes one way or another.
I think you just described an iPhone. Lol

Metaverse is a much broader concept than any single company's branding or offerings. Facebook/Meta are just one player in the hot mess that the metaverse concept is right now. There's a bunch of proprietary offerings out there right now, and not a lot to be said about standardization to achieve any sort of interoperability between those offerings. AR and VR both will be key components of Metaverse shenanigans.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaverse#Technology is worth a peek.

I’m not average and I don’t even know what it is. Is it a virtual world like second life? Can I walk around in the metaverse ? I don’t know because I’ve never bothered to look it up and I haven’t received any ad about it even when I’m a heavily tech reader

Guess I'm old (46). I don't want anything to do with this ar/metaverse nonsense at all. I don't want a headset. I don't want glasses. I don't want implants. And I'm super tired of being presented with for-profit visions of the future.

Every vision of the future that has ever been presented was for-profit in some way.

Maybe. I suppose I'm interested in seeing some of the world's problems solved instead of all this ar/meta garbage. But I get it, life goes on and things advance as the trials and tribulations of humanity continue. It is the way of things and that's fine.

What I really meant was I'm tried of a half a dozen tech twerps capturing the media with their specific for-profit visions of the future. I guess I don't get how having everyone strapped into ar/meta makes the world a better place. But I'm not a visionary, so... whatever. It's time for some new twerps.

Now get off my lawn.

This is what will benefit Apple greatly as a first mover into this new market. Soon, there will be different metaverses - you can be certain only Apple Reality devices will be able to enter Apple's metaverse.
In Apple’s metaverse, interactions with other metaverses will be surrounded by big green clouds.
