I don't know what they could do to individuals posting leaked information, that are not employed by Apple or employed by their supply chain.

Apple may think so, but their products do not deserve the national security level designation.

Fine, fire and sue the leakers who are sneaking the info out. They can't control the information after its been passed on.

Make me wonder if each region got a different version of the memo. That would allow Apple to narrow down to source of the leak. They might even have slightly different encoding sent to some employees who have easy access to prototypes and designs.

They should be able get a rough idea who leaked the memo. Tighten the screws, Timmy. Leakers might lay low for a while so quality of leaks are gonna suffer.

lol

'making the world a better place' by selling them high priced stuff they dont really need, every year. Get over yourself Tim.

This isn't a mums and pops operation its a mega corporation, leakers will always exist.

That wasn't even an interesting memo, the one about Epic Games other than 'we obviously knew we aren't a monopoly'

OK, let me go and make my own iPhone. Or let me get a non-Apple non-Google device. He's only partially correct: it's a duopoly.

Dear Team,

It was great to connect with you at the global employee meeting on Friday, unless you are still using Mojave. There was much to celebrate, from our remarkable new product line-up to our values driven work around climate change, racial equity, and privacy. It was a good opportunity to reflect on our many accomplishments and to have a discussion about what’s been on your mind, unless you harp about Safari 15 not available for old assed Mojave!

Withhold review units. Withhold interviews. Withold other key information.

Go back and look at what happened to the relationship with (IIRC) the NYT.

Apple has a long memory.

I'm really surprised by the tone here. Most Apple Fans that I know like being surprised and those same people don't really like how much drama has emanated from Apple's rank & file over the last 12 months. I like Macintosh Rumors but I also prefer to be surprised and would like that to continue so I applaud Tim for making it clear that leakers IP or Internal memos have no place at the company.

Dummy who leaked this didn’t notice that the text is obviously fingerprinted.

Very very possibly. At the same time, if the Verge is smart (I said IF), they didn't publish it completely verbatim.

Well Tim also says that Apple removed Power Bricks for the environment.
Yes, I believe that is a true statement.
Apple also believes slowing down phones and forcing people to upgrade frequently is good for environment.
Yes, I believe it is true that having your phone operate no matter what the condition of the battery, is better than the alternative of having the phone shut down. Upgrading is a personal decision and hopefully the person will give their phone to Apple for recycling.

What would be equally awesome is if this email had hundreds of variations sent to different people to close in on the leaker. If a bunch of employees were like what memo? I didn’t get a memo. The leaker would be freaking out about now.
I was going to say something similar. Would be a great way to find the leak by slightly modifying a few words so that when it leaks it can narrow down the focus to the smaller group that received the one with the leaked verbiage.

Even screwing around with punctuation, spacing, etc. works. Like that company that caught google copying their song lyrics because of encoding using commas.

I still think the whole "Watch will have flat sides" fiasco was a ploy by Apple to catch leakers...it's really the only theory that makes sense.

not so certain since it caused damage. its created false expectations and lead to disappointment and will probably hurt series 7 sales.

if people knew more accurately what series 7 was, they probably could have let it stew for a while and rationalized it as 'ok ill buy' vs. a big shock at the announcement and 'im gonna hold' mentality
