Like the Mac Pro, it seems a challenge to get users excited about form factor that's basically been put out to pasture for years. The too-long-awaited promise of an update creates a tad bit o' bitterness for those waiting.

Remember. Just because you say something is true, doesn't mean its true because reality states different.

Mac Mini is important? 3 years of no updating it?

I will believe this when I see it.
Actually, 2 years of not updating it, it was kind of on a 2 years upgrade cycle anyway. But realistically if they updated it there would be little benefit. This time you’ll be getting a big upgrade.

i have no secrets or knowledge here.. but i keep coming back to why couldnt a new "low end" mac pro *be* the update to the mac mini. The mac pro will be a monitorless desktop.. a low end version that is small could easily fit all the needs of the mac mini.. and slim down their desktop lineup.. they could also have a higher-end model for the pro.. but the form-factor could be the same.. and would fit with the modular/expandable design everyone wants.

I’m excited but I know the price of this thing will be astronomical.

Apple is becoming unbearable nowadays.

If it's important, update it. Don't make fat margins selling 3 year old technology. It's not technically unethical, but it's smarmy. (And brand destroying over time)

What I worry about is a replay of the MacBook Pros. Also long overdue. Also said an important part of the Apple strategy. And the release was so illformed with shoddy low quality keyboards. People are looking to buy older machines or continue to wait.

I wish there was someone at the top of Apple who still loved computers. I know there are tons of people who work at Apple who do, but just not on the executive team. Yes, they love Apple. Yes, they love their customers, They just don't love computers and the power of the tools they sell. It really shows.

Very strange that he said "
While it is not time to share" and he didnt said while it is not THE time to share

I loved the word "pipeline" used towards Tim. I saw that as a jab towards Tim.

I would have recommended to include that link to the thread "The new Mac mini is almost certainly coming" for Tim to review. If anything, it would show there is still some interest in that product.

Why in the world does it matter what the Mac mini looks like? It's far far more about the capabilities.

What most here don't seem to understand is that even the current Mac mini appeals wonderfully to its target audience. It's not about being a high-end machine. It's about being able to browse the web, go on social media, do a little iTunes, some word processing, maybe a tiny bit of photo stuff in iPhoto, and that's about it. It still sells well to that audience.
