You completely miss the point/issues many longer term fans have.

As a photographer which you are , say you have invested into cannon for 20 years, all setup, and recently cannon is being overtaken by Sony in innovation, if some cannon aplogists tell you to just switch ..... missing the point much ?

How many sports team have your followed ? Many tend to stick to one .....;) how about giving the fans a bit more credit ?

That's the problem. Apple is a company. Company shouldn't have fans. They are not a sports team. If a photographer choose Canon as his camera brands it should be because Canon make the best camera for his job, not because he is a fan. If Sony starts making better camera than Canon he should buy a Sony. It's like going to a restaurant for 10 years, than the cook change and you keep going to the restaurant even if you don't like their cuisine anymore. It doesn't make sense.

But these days they remove bits of their founders from university buildings invade they offend people, and they won’t dress like Pocahontas at a fancy dress party as its offensive, she’s a cartoon character...

Pocahontas is not a cartoon character … maybe the other poster wasn't wrong when he said it was a shame you didn't go to one of this schools. And obviously, the statues you talk about are not of their founders either, are usually states of soldier that fought to maintain slavery…

Wise words from Cook.
I wonder if there is any chance that this is his farewell tour? Apple has pretty much scraped the bottom of the barrel when it comes to incremental innovation. They need to a leader with vision to get back to being a disruptive innovator like Jobs. Otherwise it'll become a race to the bottom like IBM, Poloroid and Xerox

I think you're missing the point.

I'm not married to any particular brand, especially with cameras and other tech. They're simply tools, and don't drive or inspire my creativity. If they did, or had lust-worty attributes, that would be different. I have no use for apologists, but I do respect those who can go beyond complaining when there are better solutions out there to be had and simply switch and move on.

Sorry, I just can't get behind the notion of being a fan of corporation, though there are aspects I appreciate and can get behind. They either make what you need, or you seek superior solutions. And those superior solutions are likely out there for one's particular needs. Spinning wheels and complaining is a time and creativity sink. Vote with your wallet.

Currently Apple is producing what I need, and doing so in a way where it-just-works seamless integration over devices categories is huge for me. Super pleased with my 2017 MBP. If I wasn't I'd quickly get something else. Life is too short, and I don't have time for inferior products getting in the way to getting things done.

So enjoy your tool, without maybe telling others to leave ? Or judging ....

Love your last sentence.... I've missed nothing .

Have a good day .

It's called brand loyalty . Apple knows it all to welll and plays of it . If your like Chinese food , you will not give up Chinese food just cause he the chef changes, though you have a right to complain that chef "jobs" made better dishes ;)

Cook said he takes inspiration from the artists, doctors, musicians, and others who use Apple products to change the world in some way.

I’d like to hear those testimonies. Aside from the watch’s health initiatives, it’s increasingly rare for Apple to associate their products with loftier aspirations. The professional, creative, and academia uses are overshadowed by the brand’s emphasis on consumption, entertainment, and narcissism.

I’d welcome a segregated approach. In the larger stores, and online, I’d like to see the pro and creative products/uses catered to separately from the emoji-loving Joe Consumer’s interests. No iPhone on the alternate website.

No, I'm not telling other people to leave.

Rather, if a company doesn't make a tech device that meets your requirements, why not purchase one from someone else that does.

If Chevrolet doesn't make a car that meets my needs, I would certainly look at other manufacturers' cars that do, and then make a purchase. Complaining about Chevrolet's cars on an internet forum will not get me a car that meets my needs.

If, however, I and a dozen or two million others were to open our wallets and instead purchase a competitor's better car, that could send a message to Chevrolet to make better cars. At least there's a chance in that case.

I work two minutes walk away and had no idea this was going on today. Shame... I could have thrown a Mac Mini at him and screamed "Fire yourself!"

Phil: Hey Tim... whoa... what happened to your face?
Tim: Some maniac threw a Mac mini at me.
Phil: a what?

"Is that a white iPhone X in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

The white one looks gorgeous, will probably be my first white phone for >5 years. So grateful Apple used a black front.

It’s silver, not white. It may appear white in certain lighting conditions or certain angles, but it’s not white, it’s silver. Just like how the Space Grey looks black in certain lighting conditions or certain angles, but is not really black.

Why not just move on and buy a Dell/HP/Microsoft/Lenovo/Asus/Acer/Sanyo/etc computer, which I suspect you believe is technologically superior, and find happiness?
That's what I did waiting for a Mac Pro. Then after Apple said that my Santa Rosa mbp didn't have a faulty gpu and later admitted it did and repaired it when it failed one month past the normal warranty. The optical out didn't work after the repair and couldn't burn a disc. Didn't notice until after 30 days of the repair so they wouldn't fix what they broke. 2 iPhones that the touch screen failed on. Everything I replaced with something non apple still works. Ymmv

I would say that Mac OS is the only thing that keeps many off us on board with Apple and thats not available on any other computer. Apple has pushed the limit on pricing and none current or low spec hardware to the point where Windows will be tolerated.

Major sport teams are essentially an entertainment and merchandise business. People buy tickets and buy their merchandise because they feel enjoyment/fulfillment out of supporting something they feel attached to, not because a team is always winning. It's not up to you to tell people which brand someone should buy with their money. Even if they want to buy a Canon and take slightly inferior photographs, so what? If they gain more pleasure in using a Canon, that's all that matters.

Wise words from Cook.

I’m usually, well never, a support of Cook. If I really enjoyed listening and watching him in this interview. He really seems to have character! Old school real world real family upbringing values. My opinion of him has shifted for the better.

Serve humanity?

Please China do business with us, please, please, please. We don't care that you treat your citizens like ****, do business with us.

Blah blah blah.

Although the action with business in China may seem hypocritical, that are changing their traditional ways in terms of equality and humanity even if slowly. Plus I think such decisions to do business is both partly Tim being the classic CEO where revenues and sales and growth matter most, and yet at the same time like he said in this interview and that is to make (in case of China to deliver) products that enable people to change the world. Maybe in a Trojan horse sort of way is through products and use and ideals the people will change the future of how their citizens are to be treated by their government.

That iPhone looks like it's so happy to be finally out in the world. it's practically trying to escape from Tim's pockets. :D

Tim got an white iPhone X

Yeah I noticed as well. Kept think who in the front row would be the first to leap for it should it slip out of Tim’s pocket when he gets up?!! Looked like it was ready to slide out any minute.

Also noticed Tim’s flare for style ... socks matched the posters of the event.

For a country that lifted more than 700 million people out of poverty in the last 30 years, China seems to be doing quite well for a country treating its citizens like ****.

Living Dangerously in Retirement
Good for Cook, shame it’s a British uni, these days with leftist liberalist PC idiots, tutors and students. Shrivelled examples of the great establishments they used to be.

I hope the tech centre does some good for students though.
Having an active left wing in student politics in the UK is nothing new. I was at Uni between 1972-75 and we had at least the following factions...
Communists, Maoists, Trotskists, Lenninists, marxist-lenninists, Broad Left, Socialist Workers

I know that at least two of the student council reps from that time (both Marxists) are now on the centre/right of British Politics.
Stopping people from exploring and learning is not the way to go.
Your time at university is a probably the first time you are away from the family home for any length of time. It is a time to learn, to experiment (not only with drugs) and to think about things that were totally alien to your family and life in general before Uni.
It is a meltng pot of Cultures. Well, my Uni was. At one point there was a war going on in Cyprus. We had both Turkish and Greek Cypriots on my course. They did a deal to carry on as before because they could not influence what was going on at home.
Their backgammon competitions got a little hot at times.

British Universities have a reputation for being a bit radical at times. Many students are really growing up. Long may that continue.

Many of us remain with apple due to macOS , it's not a simple case of the new MacBook Pro being overpriced or form over function , it's not about hardware. Some remain on older units with no reason to upgrade, I bought a 2015 refurb . My household remains mostly macs, though I am very unhappy of the value offered by the new machines . Always bought top spec machine and £4485 for a laptop ...... anyway ... as **** as it is value wise, to about macOS and the ecosystem, or about one machine....heck I use a 2012 Mac mini cause cooks offering suck. Yeah , in time if this continues more and more of us will leave, though in an age where performance is no longer a bottleneck , owning the newest Mac hardware is not a deal breaker, the concern is seeing where the company is heading.

The only message Tim will listen to is if his cash cow the iPhone takes a hit. Stay tuned, though doubt Apple under this leadership will ever remember they were a computer company .

I doubt very very very very much you had policital correctness gone mad in your days. You didn’t replace pictures of your university’s founding fathers with ‘diversity’ pictures:

http://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4698422/amp/King-s-College-replace-busts-founding-fathers.html

And let’s not forget the censorship student minority groups now display about certain speakers that are invited:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...s-controversy-never-tolerate-intolerance.html

I could go on but I won’t, they’ve hit a rock bottom all time low with some of their values over recent years.
It wasn’t like this during my time in education that’s for sure.
All I see these days are the values of learning and diversity and acceptance being denied, and I’m not talking about the course your studying.
