Good for Cook, shame it’s a British uni, these days with leftist liberalist PC idiots, tutors and students. Shrivelled examples of the great establishments they used to be.

I hope the tech centre does some good for students though.
Whoa, that’s some giant chip on your shoulder. That can’t be healthy man.

And become more left wing. The right wing is not associated with critical thinking.
Exactly. One only has to look at Trump for that. He is not a good person.

But these days they remove bits of their founders from university buildings invade they offend people, and they won’t dress like Pocahontas at a fancy dress party as its offensive, she’s a cartoon character...
They have never been more worst then they are now led by their tutors and deans. It’s pretty dispicable to be frank.

You know you are absolutely right, I NEVER READ THAT, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact I’m British and have lived in England all my life.....:rolleyes:

Funny that... I think you entirely missed the point of this article and my post.

I guess you are one of those who feel proud at looking at all the loots the empire despicably plundered and stole from other countries and in the process, killed hundreds of thousands. Aah. Glory days!!! :D

If I were a student, I'd be infinitely more interested in hearing the likes of Elon Musk speak than grey old Tim.

Well if it wasn’t for those “leftist liberalist” idiots we’d have more flat earther, women hating, bible bashing, bomb dropping elitists instead and we know that doesn’t really help tech and science innovation. Unless you like to drop Tomahawks on half the world.

Kind of a dopey thing to say. Maybe you need to go back to school. Oh, BTW- in case you think that protesters are some sort of ingrates:

1st Amendment to the United States Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Bet you didn’t get around to reading that in school.

Very bad…

What about the uni protestors who say your above quoted amendment should be changed?

That's the problem. Apple is a company. Company shouldn't have fans. They are not a sports team. If a photographer choose Canon as his camera brands it should be because Canon make the best camera for his job, not because he is a fan. If Sony starts making better camera than Canon he should buy a Sony. It's like going to a restaurant for 10 years, than the cook change and you keep going to the restaurant even if you don't like their cuisine anymore. It doesn't make sense.

"They are not a sports team."

That's it! Your observation is brilliant, one that never occurred to me. Your comment makes so much sense and explains a lot of behavior. I get it now. Tip-o-my cap on revealing what (for me) was hiding in plain sight.

And that, as I think you are implying, is that many customers view Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, etc. as sports enterprises, with leaders as coaches. And fans taking strong personal issue with their decisions (hiring, strategy, direction, etc), second guessing the coach (or owner) on those decisions. The analogy is so perfect.

I work two minutes walk away and had no idea this was going on today. Shame... I could have thrown a Mac Mini at him and screamed "Fire yourself!"
Poor, poor, Mac Mini...

They cripple it and remove upgrade-ability without even making it smaller, then they don't bother to update the damn thing. Either properly support a product or just kill it off. These half-assed updates to the Mac line just makes Apple look unprofessional, especially with the sheer amount of cash they have.

They have near limitless R&D money. The new iMacs are great, but it should have smaller bezels than my now 6.5 year old iMac.

"I realized the purpose of life wasn't to love your job, it was to serve humanity in a broad way. And the outcome of doing that would mean you love your job. I realized I wasn't in a place to do that, so sometime thereafter, I switched companies."

Bla...bla...blatherer. Please god, fire this untalented and uncreative wannabe Apple CEO; or send this number cruncher a new book of phrases.

Sounds like an incoherent slur at a bar. Embarrassment for an institution like Oxford.

Bible bashing? They seem to be doing that in the UK as it is, and sexism is still a thing.
So not much has changed. Still plenty of selfish people in this world so I would drop Tomahawks on them.

Yes, I also remember the ‘millions’ who died for freedom which is eroded away more and more these days.
And I’m pretty sure the ‘Empire’ wasn’t stealing in the 60s and 70s but I guess opinions varie.
My first comment must have gone right over your head.

I used to never miss a single interview with Steve Jobs. I probably watch / read half of Tim's. It could be that he gives access to a lot more press than Steve ever did but I think it's because Steve had very visionary futurist answers. He didn't talk about human rights, charity, politics or really much of anything outside of his worldview on technology and what was an "insanely great" idea or a "****" idea. his All things D interviews are still amazing a decade later.

Tim is a completely different CEO but I would love to hear more visionary statements from him outside of the political stuff.

Tim talks like everyone wants to be Tim Cook and can tell everyone how to become him

Tim you are not Steve, you will never be.

You killed Apple spirit, innovation and DNA.

Tim is exactly what people shouldn't become if they want to lead a tech company.

Indeed. When it has caused you to irrationally hate a fictional enemy, that's when its gone too far man. I agree though. News boils the blood. A couple of years ago my BiL said he stopped watching the news (I assume he meant BBC), he's a mega socialist too. He planted an idea and I stopped watching the news too, I unfollowed friends on FB that spoke only about the news, I turned off all notifications except BBC Breaking News. And life became relaxing again.

Nobody here cares about religion any more. Even the Muslims I know, that have a stereotype image of being overtly religious, that were devout up until teen hood have become agnostic, but still follow their religions fashion beliefs and some dietary trends.

Personally I like it. Leaving religion brings in a certain new freedom away from outdated rules. Freedom's great - isn't it?

Sexism is on its way out though. It's always going to be perpetuated by some men, and they're always going to be vocal. It's a huge topic with many examples of what brought us to this point - personally I think it's social networking spreading these great ideas.

That would include my family. It's kinda funny. My dziadek (grandfather) was a POW and forced to build railways in Italy for the Nazi's (effectively a slave). Anywho. He's an interesting chap. 90 years old this year and is very worried that people have forgotten about the war and that the Nazi's were the bad guys, and that their resurgence is troubling. I too think people are being forgetful. My other grandfather died protecting his society, his country, so that his granddaughter can speak out against companies objectifying their sex - and that his great-grandaughter will hopefully live in a world with reduced rape and sex crimes. Would be nice :)

How can you be the opposite to me, and fighting to remain in the EU without watching the news?
I read a lot online now actually, I don’t watch the BBC news because of their EU stance but they were good otherwise. But I watch Sky news in the morning and the lady on there is rather nice I have say....... lol...
It’s a shame I notice news channels taking sides now more then ever, so much for impartiality.

As for religion, it’s alive and kicking in the UK, it’s a Christian country founded on Christian beliefs and religion has always been a big part of it with all our Kings and Queens over the years, even though some of what the church have done is a joke and as for the peodophiles...
But it’s important if you want to have faith you should be able to, so long as it’s not extremist and leads to killing people..

And yes, it does seem to be being forgotten, it’s something that should always be remembered and mandatory to learn about, help prevent us going down that road again.. also make people appreciate the freedom they have more.
My grandad who’s long gone now was in the tank regiment in WW2 I think I can’t remember what he did but he survived. My mum can remember WW2 a bit, she lived in London at the time.
But being in a POW must of been the worst, yet he’s now 90! Strong spirit.
I think history will repeat itself one day, my mum is adamant the French and Germans will go to war over who runs the EU? I’m not sure I’d believe that, maybe one day war of a different type, political?
