Steve Jobs gives a universally recognized, ground breaking, excellent, life changing commencement speech that will stand the test of time.

Tim Cook will give a canned speech heavy on political rhetoric and today's culture wars' issue of the month that will be forgotten in the sands of time.

Sounds easy to say. But I wanna see you run a major company and tell the shareholders.... “yeah, you are gonna make less money because we won’t do business in China.... and not legally use tax laws to our advantage....because you know... morals and such...”

See how that works out.

Honestly. If he's going to act like the second coming on stage I'd like him to walk the talk.
I'd love it more if he just admitted to being a standard CEO monster and stopped with the MLK quotes .

No but then again I don’t go around virtue signaling about civil rights on one hand while boot-licking oppressive regimes on the other....
Not that long ago I would not have given a thumbs up to a statement like this, though I was growing concerned about Tim Cook's business decisions going against his stated convictions so many times. I had long thought that he has years of experience and has met so many influential people that it would be very interesting and an honor to hear him speak.

But then came the rumor that Apple will issue a Product Red XS phone to China first (slap in the face to all other customers who have long supported a worthy cause) and rebrand it to them as "China Red" (slap in the face 2, in case the first slap missed).

If this rumor really does end up being true, it would be pandering to a degree that would be too embarrassing to watch and would mean the end of any esteem I ever held for the man.

So, I hope that is one rumor that's utterly false. I'd like to believe Tim Cook still has not sold his soul to Wall Street.

I'm just gonna leave this here:

You damn well and good that Tim's going to use this address for politicking. He has everywhere else he's given a speech.
Tim "Me Too" Cook innovating not at all, politicking to the hilt. Steve Jobs PLEASE call home!

I've criticized Tim Cook for a lot of things in the past, even outright lying, but I'll say one thing. He's kept in touch with President Trump for whatever reasons, probably many, but mostly to protect Apple's worldwide interests and that's not a bad thing necessarily. It's like the old rule, "Keep your friends close. Keep your enemies closer."

But I'm sure he'll reveal none of those reasons in this commencement speech. :D

I find Tim to have to pleasant speaking voice, and I think the address will show a different side of him. We only see the promotional side ~ showing excitement and pacing back and forth on stage. This will be more intimate, less produced, and I think he’ll do a great job.

Yup, there's basically almost no one using and enjoying Apple products for close to a decade now.

Using and enjoying aren't mutually inclusive. A lot of people are doing the former, very few are doing the latter.
[doublepost=1550972624][/doublepost]The good thing about this speech is that when it hits YouTube, it'll be a great video to put on to fall asleep to.

There was so much courage in that speech.

"Can't write good speeches anymore my ass".

Apple sells animal skin products which shows that the company is not credible when it claims it is highly ethical. Speciesism and racism are both forms of prejudice. Cook is a hypocrite

Even MLK can’t live up to his quotes. He had faults... but that doesn’t stop him from being a good man. TC I think aspires to be a good man and great CEO...but he can only play the cards he is dealt: having to deal with China knowing even though he asks them to reign Labour abuses... he has no real power over a sovereign nation.

It will take consumers the world over shunning Apple for the shareholders to ok moving business elsewhere. And we have seen that happen before.

I’m sorry, but this guy is an absolute creep. I wouldn’t want him anywhere near college students.

Ummm..... explain please.

Stanford commencement was Steve’s gig. Tim Cook should have respectfully declined the offer from Stanford out of respect for Steve.

I’m beginning to like Tim less and less as of late.

This can’t be serious.

Steve shopped at Lunardi’s. So Tim needs to get his groceries at Safeway.
Steve drove a Mercedes. So Tim needs to drive BMW.
Steve ate rocky road. So Tim needs to eat tin roof sundae.
Steve once gave a commencement address at stanford. So Tim needs to limit his address to just foothill college.

He’s never been even accused of any impropriety. What are you talking about?

You’re damn right it’s serious. Are you serious with your BS response??? Exaggerate much?

Why take ONE factual statement and turn it into several absurd statements? Why? I know exactly why. Several things to call you come to mind, but they would all get me banned from this forum. So, I shall refrain. Stanford’s commencement was Steve’s gig. Do you think Tim would be delivering it if Steve was still alive? I doubt it very seriously. Why? He wouldn’t do it out of respect for Steve. That’s why. Let someone else, not at Apple, have it. There are many worthy candidates out there other than Tim “Raise the Price to Compensate” Cook.

Today’s your lucky day. I normally lambast people like you. You’re getting off easy. You have no idea the bag of adjectives I have at my disposal.

So Mr. Cook gave his speech, his picture and an associated article was at the top of The Drudge Report. Did Tim Cook insinuate a lack of action on climate change as the reason or a reason that that area of the globe gets hurricanes? An example of the failure of his generation? Let’s hope that his other words of challenging leaders was indeed taken to heart.

Tim(e) Cook. He's almost a button on a microwave oven. Never liked this guy, never will. He's shady, slippery, and elitist.

"Button on a Microwave" - That's a good one!

I know what you mean about Crook. Even his southern accent has been perfectly melded with that Norther Cali "Shoes" accent:

https://music.apple.com/album/shoes/195692582

The result is a transcendent polished elitist drawl. He's the perfect CEO mouthpiece for the Ultra-PC Apple.
