God, I HATE these people, these ........... these Republicans. WHY is Tim doing this? This Paul Ryan dude ....... funny looking and I distrust people who are "funny looking".

Has there ever been a candidate with such a large percentage of the popular vote who has had his party actively work against him? I've read numerous news articles over the last year about hugely coordinated efforts to try to stop him, involving both parties.

You can hate him all day, I don't care. I'm not here to support him.

I'm asking, don't you think it's strange that both parties are colluding to stop him at all costs? Has this ever happened before? Doesn't that make you raise an eyebrow or look at what else is going on?
The GOP knows full well that they can't win the general election with their base alone. Trump's appeal to the far right helped him steamroll through the primaries, but it makes it extremely difficult for him to assume a centrist position now. Especially if he continues to act the way that he does.

The GOP changed the primary process after 2012 to rig it for the most conservative candidates. In other words, their plan to rig the outcome backfired - as so many cheating plans do

No, no, no. There should be complete separation between corporations and state. Similarly there should be complete separation between judiciary/courts and state as well as complete separation between religious institutions and state. Apple shouldn't be allowed to raise any funds like this nor should these kinds of funds be accepted.

Smart move. Throw pennies at Ryan and he'll do anything. Just like all GOP congress working girls. He's their king.

Amazing since he is gay. Why would he try to feed rabid dogs? Oh yeah, rabid dogs making government policy... (Don't bother answering indignantly. It's a metaphor. :D:p)

All of SV sees it this way. Importing foreign labor is a great wage suppression and hiring discretion tool. Without it, engineer compensation could double (which would barely make a dent for the larger companies), but why do that at all when you can pay some one-time fees to politicians and keep things going?

I'm trying to view it from the other side. Hiring is even more difficult for smaller companies, so keeping wages down benefits startups and smaller businesses. The problem is that a perpetual reliance on foreign labor doesn't incentivize STEM education here, which hurts domestic recruiting.

I think that's a management issue, letting marketing dictate deadlines and features in large releases (like iOS 10.12) instead of a continual stream of smaller improvements more regularly. They wouldn't hire people if they weren't competent.

Similarly, you wouldn't say the iPhone is junk because it's "Made in China" – they've very carefully established high quality overseas assembly operations.

Domestic doesn't mean better; it just means that the economic incentives are aligned to do something locally.

The H-1B visa program is killing software dev jobs disproportionally because it's easy to cram a coder in a conference room with 20 other people with a cheap PC and keyboard... - imports make 50% of the going rate in my metro area, so yes it is wage suppression..
But if you thing that's a good thing, then remove all minimum wage laws, and visa laws, and union protection ..equally.. anyone gets in from anywhere to work for whatever someone will pay them - an offer letter gets them a work visa at the boarder... walk up and walk in... Think that's a good plan? I'd agree to that so everyone can put their paycheck under the same jeopardy as mine. After 5 years of that THEN we can ALL have an honest discussion about what our country's borders are for.

I've worked for a major software company's project as an 'onshore' external contractor - my job was to integrate all the hacked code that the 'offshore' team cranked out. I was responsible for a daily 'git push' to the customer's repository that contained all the code. I had specific instructions that the git push did not show individual changes from the offshore team. Of course I had to rework most of the offshore team's crap... Because I "ended up owning it all".. My reputation was in jeopardy... That job sucked, and it burned me out. So I have first hand experience with the quality of off shore coding skill. My job was to cover the tracks of how bad the offshore team was - EVEN TO MY OWN MANAGEMENT.. It was my job to maintain my own management's ignorance, under their direct orders. I left after one release, and they lost the contract 3 weeks into the next release.

Are there sources other than FOX News to rely on for this issue?

Of course not. No one else dares report the truth about a Clinton.
Clinton would own Fox News if they could catch Fox in a lie... So don't question the truthfulness of the reporting.

Ugh, looks like I may need to build a Hackintosh instead of waiting for a new Mini. I guess the dumbing down of macOS finally makes sense in light of Cook's intention to reach out to republicans.

You better be a hippy living in the woods if you object to this.

Cook knows both Republicans and Democrats must be paid off to keep the H-1B visa program in place to supply cheap foreign software development labor (Yet the quality of Apple software continues to suffer - go figure)..

At least the Republican primary was open so THE PEOPLE were able to nominate Trump, who wants to shut down visa abuse and save American jobs. But Clinton is bought and paid for:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...bill-clinton-speech-requests-within-days.html

"[Clinton] made $260,000 addressing the annual meeting of HCL, an Indian outsourcing giant, at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. His total haul: $1.56 million"

Software developers are very highly paid.

Apple CEO Tim Cook plans to co-host a fundraiser for House Speaker Paul Ryan next week in an attempt to strengthen Apple's relationship with key Republicans
Yes, because Republicans and Democrats are different. And your vote actually counts too ;)

I agree with all of your points and would very much prefer it to be consistently one way or the other even though I was trying to consider the other side's viewpoint. I think our system is very unfair because it tries to create perceived "fairness" or "protection" for certain groups and in turn, screws everyone not in those groups. For example, one consequence of minimum wage is that it results in a devaluation of anyone earning above it (because their wages do not increase proportionally), especially earners at a level only slightly above it.

That's pure hell and on the doorstep of poor management and hiring practices.

Do you realize how dumb this is? You are essentially saying that the establishment shouldn't listen to it's voter base. You are effectively disenfranchising MILLIONS of voters and going against any form of representation by the people.

They don't trust anything that really matters to a vote by the people; that's just an illusion of choice (just like the illusion that we have a two party system). No matter how the people vote, it's the controlled electoral college system that determines the Presidency.

The Republican party is really screwed. If they don't nominate Trump, they will kill their party by screwing their voter base. If they do and he wins, they screw their money interests. Hardcore Democrats may be relishing the thought of a Republican party collapse, but without another party to play things off of, the farce of the same-party system will be undeniable to all but the most brainwashed.

No matter who wins, Democrats in control or Republicans in control, it doesn't matter: Nothing really improves and the national debt keeps going up. Pitting citizens against each other via "parties" and "talking points" is done to distract you from the robbing of your wealth through poor economic policy and unintended government consequences.

Best case scenario for the people: Trump doesn't get the nom and we see a Republican party collapse. Shillary gets the nom, then the FBI drops the bomb and there's a critical mass recognition that she's cancer forcing her out. Some douche wins it all and their celebration is cut short by an impending economic collapse he tries to handle like everyone before him, with massive government intervention and deficit spending. Except this time it doesn't work, and we get the real collapse they spent $Trillions delaying in 2008. Government demonstrates that it's so inept and can't pay its bills that all of the leeches and corruptocrats finally leave its revolving doors, giving actual people a chance to take back control and end the nonsense of the current "two" party system, and we never have ****** candidates again.

One can dream.

Why is cook upset. Trump is YUUUUGE with the gays.

Seriously though, under the current administration, we get attacked by a terrorist. Not only is his phone call sanitized to remove his pledge to radical Islamic terrorism and other references, but then the administration goes on to attack our bill of rights and the NRA. Terrorist hits, time to go after my political enemies. It's unbelievable. This is why there is a Gays for Trump movement going on now. They realize, a president like Trump will protect them, and democrats will just go after conservative groups whenever a terrorist strikes.

I think that is the side that doesn't believe in climate change....but I may be wrong.....

The climate is always changing. It cry used to be "The next ice age is coming." The next cry was "Global warming is coming." Now it's climate change which no matter what happens short of having exactly the same temps every year, year after year, you can claim you're right. Both sides love the environment. One side is abusing the cause to gain power and control over people and property. That is why the environmental movement is being hurt, it's being exploited.

Very concerning to me to see Tim trying to influence politics this way. I guess if he is doing it out of his own pocket it's one thing but if it's Apple money it is a whole different level. So he pulls Apples money from the RNC! But uses private money to support a potential trump nemesis? I am not a trump fan, but this seems very bad politics to me.
