Why? AirPods do appear somewhat magical in the way they connect, function, and deliver content to your ears. I am thrilled Apple created this product. I'm very excited to get my AirPods. They look truly incredible.
Call it tech advancement. There's nothing "magical" about it.

I'm sure Tim can dance... I'd dance with him!

White men can't dance.
Stay tuned for the amazing pipeline of innovation.

That would require a loudspeaker in the EarPods. Not likely.

Well, considering the earpiece is now a second speaker on the iphone 7, I don't see why there couldn't be a high-volume ping sound coming out of them, (when you don't have them on of course, which can be detected)

They do look handy... but I am looking forward to their next version, headphones is one thing you don't really need upgrading. I think (hope rather) apple have something 'magical' up their sleeve for the next model.

What if I only want to listen to one AirPod? I do this with my wired headphones like 40% of the time. Will they not play or will it play on both regardless?

I'm looking forward to the Airpods. As small as a product as these are, Apple really emphasized these aside from
The dual camera in the Keynote.

I think when These release In late October, these will be a hit item that sells out fast. Excited to try these.

I picked up some of these silicone covers on Amazon to try out and see if they help. I never use regular EarPods because they fall out. I figure I can just cut out where I need to for the additional holes on the AirPods.

Is it really necessary to go on GMA to pitch Apple products and reassure people that ditching the 3.5mm jack was the right decision?

Apple products used to practically sell themselves. How times have changed.

Can't wait for this.

I never bought into the nonsense that airpods would fall out. Apple always sweats these details. They wouldn't allow it to slip through.

I can't have my normal earphones stay on if I walk very fast or sometimes just because it didn't want to stay in my ear. If they are the same size without any other feature I bet will lose them if I buy them.

Lots of speculation on here. The process I use on any purchase I consider premium priced... Buy the AirPods from Apple or the store with the best return policy, give them a good workout, if they perform well, keep if not return. After the trial you can report back your actual use impressions.

Read the context!

That's why you can't conflate Flash with the headphone Jack.

One is useful, one is Flash.
.

The point is moving forward. Flash proved to be problematic for various reasons. The headphone jack is from the 50's. At *some* point a step forward has to be made.

I do agree, though, that Apple made a poor choice with making the switch while still relying on the stupid lightning jack. It reminds me a lot of Sony's memorystick bull****. Give me a USB-C connector so I can use my headphones in other places than just the iPhone.

Sweats the details? They literally didn't with these because not only did they not even bother to create a new form factor that looks both less stupid and better fitting, they also didn't bother to give them water resistance. So they missed the one major target group that really benefits from Bluetooth and wireless - those working out.

I guess Tim was having a casual stroll on that treadmill, because he definitely wouldn't be running and sweating into these earpods, even though that's a standard feature on cheap Bluetooth earphones.

Can you post a link where Apple says their AirPods cannot be used while running/sweating?

Didn't Phil Schiller just chastise the public for saying iPods, iPads, iPhones? So now it's okay to pluralize an Apple product? Marketing fail whoever came up with the name on this one.

And, of course, everyone's ears have evolved since the 50's.
