Wasn't meaning to come across as hostile. I must say that your observation of our political situation here in the states was pretty spot on. There's a severe case of 'Us vs You' going on between the left and right / liberals and conservatives / Democrats and Republicans.

You didn't come across as hostile I was just reassuring you that I am not attacking anyone's political ideals. But what you said is my concern, this fight within the US government is spreading to the citizens and nothing will ever get done as long as that happens. And I say that only because we have had similar issues in the UK. There's extreme political views on both sides of the fence, neither is right or wrong, but so much of this has trickled down into absolute anger between people that would ordinarily get along just fine.

Actually I'm not, so please enlighten me. How much carbon is released in mining and transporting enough nuclear material to produce 1TWh of electricity.

And to compare, how much carbon is released when you produce 1TWh of electricity through mountaintop removal coal mining? How much carbon is released in the energy expenditure to pulverize a mountain into gravel? Then how much is produced to transport the coal which is much bulkier than nuclear fuel? Then how much is produced actually burning the coal to produce electricity?
Who the **** is advocating for coal? It's already dead in the market.

American people are the biggest loser now that Trump backed out of the climate agreement. Ford is the #1 carmaker in the world. Thanks to liberals bailing out Ford. China is actually investing hundreds of billions of dollars and has only recently become the #1 polluter. Before China, we in the US were the #1 polluter. We are next in line as it relates to pollution and waste.

The minute China gets green manufacturing up and running there is almost no chance of ever getting manufacturing jobs back into the USA. The USA should be much further along on green energy and green manufacturing.

Conservatives complain but don't contribute. They complain about not having any jobs or any money in one breathe and in the other say they don't want other people leeching off of them. There is no way for anyone to leech off of conservatives because they are nothing but a bunch of nagging deadbeats. In the US the deadbeat conservative states don't pay for anything. They don't have any money. They don't pay any taxes. Nope. They can't be counted on for anything other than hating people who are different from them or don't live the way they do.

They leech from those awful spend thrift liberals states...never mind the fact that they are directly responsible for the Trillion dollar debt they claim they want to cut off. Maybe they should avoid filling out the mountain of forms and paperwork you have to fill out to get Obamacare, Welfare and Food Stamps first.

Apple, as the most profitable company in the world, can influence and have already influenced what the rest of the world does.
Yeah damn those conservatives. Because liberals aren't to blame for blocking nuclear from replacing fossil fuels. Oh wait. Yes they are.

If you really believe that I implore you to start pushing for a massive expansion of nuclear power.

Sorry, but no. I prefer the route of energy efficiency and massive expansion in the use of renewables. I don't believe current nuclear power is either as safe or as cheap as many try to argue it is.

I would think a lot more people on welfare and food stamps voted for Clinton than for Trump. These liberal free loaders don't care what their electric bill cost, they don't pay it, the taxpayers pay it for them.

But China has vowed to clean up by signing onto the agreement and they've made tangible investments in going green. Apple also has them building greener products.
China can pollute more over the next 20 years according to what they signed.

Then you've bought into the anti nuclear smear campaign from the past 4 decades. Solar and wind can't fully replace fossil fuels. If you dont want nuclear then you prefer continuing to pump co2 for at least 50 more years. I'd prefer not to do that.

Go Tim! Screw Trump! He's not long for this world anyway—so why would he care about protecting it? He has never cared about anyone more than himself—including his own children! With all the ketchup covered steaks that he eats, the stress of the Russia investigation and his age, he'll have a heart attack within a year.

Lol.

here is exactly what they said :
"In their totality and their interactions these phenomena do constitute a common threat which must be confronted by everyone together. But in designating these dangers as the enemy, we fall into the trap, which we have already warned readers about, namely mistaking symptoms for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention in natural processes, and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy then is humanity itself"

You can't just modify facts to fit what you want believe. That's not how it works.
So in case that's not clear, mmm....there is nothing that will help.

Sure seems to be the case on wiki.

Tell that to California (the tech and Hollywood capital of the world) and New York (the finance and media capital of the world) who overwhelmingly voted for Clinton.

I haven't bought into a smear campaign, I just watch the news and read history. In a world where both governments and terrorists want to attack infrastructure (and have done so), and two nuclear power plants have had disastrous failures in less than the space of 30 years I simply don't think providing a huge expansion of such targets is sensible, and neither is creating more waste to store for similar (and additional) reasons.

I realise that using renewables (both those you mention and others) rather than nuclear is a huge thing to do, but I don't share your view that they can't replace fossil fuel-based energy production. It's all a balance of consumption, efficiency and production, of course. I respect and understand your position, but I don't agree with it.

The future is alternative energy regardless of the Paris agreement.

Instead of trying to sustain coal mining jobs that kill people, there should be training programs to transition them to emerging alternative energy technology.

You must mean alternative energy to the alternative energy being pushed right now. What is currently out there just isn't as efficient or reliable as the older stuff and until it is, don't expect it to be taken seriously.

This is the saddest day in American politics since the assassination of MLK. If you don't think that, I doubt your sanity.

Wow. Just wow.

For the most part, 45 has shown his decisions to be based on three things.

1. Short term economic gain
2. Personal relationships
3. His feelings

That's it. A deep understanding of the issues, long term impacts, and non-financial impacts are irrelevant to him.

Has earth's climate fluctuated radically over the past several billion years without any help from humans? Yes, a lot, and relatively quite frequently.

"Relatively quite frequently" to what exactly? Certainly not to the time frame of the industrial revolution up until now. The real problem with current global warming is how quickly warming is taking place. It isn't comparable to warming trends that took place naturally on Earth prior to the industrial revolution.

Yes, the Institute for Energy Research, a non-profit founded by the coal billionaire Koch Brothers and run by a former Enron executive. I think you may need to dig a bit deeper to try and find something convincing when it comes to why the Paris Accord is a bad idea.

Most people can't wrap their heads around the fact that the temperature difference between the last ice age and the start of the industrial revolution was only 4 degrees. So 2 degrees in the last century is massive.

Of course California and NYC voted for Clinton but that's not what I was commenting on. I was commenting on the wrongly informed person who made these rediculous statements:

Welfare grew massively under Obama, the debt doubled under Obama, and my point was that most people collecting social services from the government voted democratic. It was the liberals who grew these social programs, so of course those collecting would support them."

As far as Tim Cook and the rest of California go, I think they should do their part in limiting the energy they use. Set their AC units for 85 degrees F this summer. They don't need it so cool, man lived for thousands of years with out air conditioning. Let Apple use all the excess energy from those new solar panels to provide energy (free) to others in the air. They can work in an office set at 85. Maybe sweating a little will help them come up with some new idea's.

We came out of a recession so of course there will be massive debt.

A more important figure is the deficit, which has decreased every year. If it were increasing, we'd be in serious trouble.

Debt is the total amount owed. Deficit is the government spending more than it makes for the year. Because the we haven't had a surplus since Clinton, the debt will continue to grow, but what's important is that we decrease our deficit.

I thought corporations were people according to Republicans? So Tim is CEO of the richest country on the planet, so his money and speech should count more than Trump's because private business and bootstraps and job creators. Tim Cook is richer than Trump, shouldn't he be President according to Republicans? Oh right, he's gay, Jesus and Republicans don't like the gays, no matter how rich they are. They only like *****-grabbers.

So, on the one hand, you're chastising the wealthy for having comfort and freedom and not really committing themselves to individual change, but on the other hand you're saying that everyone should have comfort and freedom and not have to commit themselves to individual change. Not exactly a rigorous exercise in personal philosophy you've got there.

No I'm saying that people that believe these climate change initiatives have anything at all to do with real climate change are simply ignorant of the facts. Why are they ignorant? Because it sounds so incredibly good and acceptable that normal people do not question if the initiative is real. I would not lie about it if I was running a climate change initiative, you would not lie about it if you were, but the politicians and leaders of these movements do lie in order to make the money they need to live better than the rest of us and in order to control others.

Most people are simply too gullible to challenge these initiatives because they are viewed as such a worthy cause. Just like no one challenges the "Its good for the children", when it rarely is.

My best impression of Trump's BFF whitehouse visitor, Sarah Palin. I'm applying to be Trump's new communications director. Or maybe Michael Flynn already got the job? :D

Repeal and replace! I mean, just repeal! I mean, this is complicated. I mean, covfefemfmdmksmndjsms

Climate change may or may not be real. The one thing science teaches us is that so often we discover, determine, or learn through scientific study only to later on learn that we were either wrong or not wholly correct. Our understanding through science can be derivative, evolutionary, or revolutionary.

However, whether climate change is real or not, even more fallible than scientific discovery is political discourse and agreement/compromise. And so it is also quite possible that the Paris agreement is potentially flawed. And to that end, I find it rather incomprehensible that tech company figureheads are sounding off in an attempt to sway public response. But then again I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
