Since Liberal are always smarter than conservatives, of course you would think your educational system failed.

Liberals are smarter? Liberals lost to Trump.

Eh. It's only done now because it's cheap. If all of a sudden Apple (for example) had to make their products in the United States, they could build factories to do it.

The United States is one of the few countries on earth that can be largely self-sufficient. Not that I advocate that, but it seems to me as far as trade deals and global economics are concerned, the US has been getting screwed. Not sure who's "fault" that is, but it needs to be fixed.

I wasn't under the impression that was relevant.
The US is No Longer in a position of being self-sufficient. Especially in the minerals for products like Apple's.

He better not slip up once during this year's keynote. Of all the time, he chooses NOW to talk politics?? I bet some of his employees were shocked or insulted to see that their CEO is not hyper focused like they are, just to keep their jobs. Hell, if it were Steve, he'd be locked in his office making sure everything is 110% perfect.

Why don't Tim Cook, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Bob Iger just bankroll the entire thing themselves then....

And...Perhaps they should drop the private jets and cut their own carbon emissions first to that of the averag pe person in the world. Then they can start lecturing us. They have the "do as I say, not as I do" authoritarian mindset where they want to control everyone else, while living their lives to excess.

Nah. Only you agree. Doesn't surprise me

My fix is not to give billions of us tax payer money to other countries
Guarantee you will send more with these so called deals.

Do you recall when earlier today I said "The US is one of the few countries that could be largely self-sufficient" ?
We cannot even recycle our used electronics, depend on third world countries. Not even close to self-sufficient.

No, it's not comparing opinions. I was calling out the fact that a lot of CEOs do lobby using their positions as a CEO. But thats besides the point if you're pursuing the legal aspects of this because if you're concerned about Tim sending an email to him employees, because as far as the US is concerned, that isn't considered lobbying.

A CEO communicating to his employees about the business is one thing. Using it as a soapbox to push your political agenda down their throats is completely different. And before you say they can disagree, we all know how well disagreeing with the CEO of your company does for your career path.

I agree with others, businesses need to stay out of Politics (and so do singers, etc. Ask the Dixie Chicks how well it worked out for them)? If Tim Cook wants to host a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton on his own dime and time, so be it. But blur the line between Business and Personal, that's where there is a problem. It's clear Tim can separate Business from Personal, as he still sells Apple products in countries that openly execute gays.

My fix is not to give billions of us tax payer money to other countries

How does that fix anything?

My fix is to make you pay people in other countries to switch to clean energy. We can do that through taxes we put on you, either at the state or federal levels.

California will still dictate car emissions and Trump will be out in 4 years before pulling out of the Paris accord takes effect. So yawn

Today was a nice day for the know-nothings of the planet, that's for sure.

Trump needs to drop his MAGA slogan in favor of a new one now. I was thinking maybe he should pick ROAR = Rip Off America's Resources. That's all this is about.

i doubt Trump cares what happens to the environment. Look at his exec actions. His talking at the end about how we could renegotiate a better deal than the Paris accords later was just a sop to people who voted for him (or who work for him now, like Ivanka and Tillerson, Cohn), but who know that he went the wrong way on this decision and so are disappointed or angry.

As for Tim Cook, good on him for trying to persuade Trump, and for speaking out against the decision when Trump abandoned the Paris agreement. We need more people to be that outspoken so that in the international arena, it remains clear that yes there's Trump, but then there are still plenty of influential people who will do their level best to innovate for mitigation of climate change and who will keep that a priority. Presidents are transients. Environmental stewardship is a constant requirement and opportunity.

This is the saddest day in American politics since the assassination of MLK. If you don't think that, I doubt your sanity.

We'll agree to disagree on the short-term outcome. The real issue - and one that Trump clearly articulated - is not one of ignoring climate change. It's an issue of "Should the US be saddled with paying for everyone?" On that he is absolutely correct. The American Taxpayer is obligated to support climate initiatives, but so is every other resident of this planet. Sadly, many countries will never be willing to shoulder ANY of that burden. Trump just told them to kiss off. He never EVER said that the US was bailing on all climate initiatives.
