Albeit expensive and with a small number of use scenarios at present, it is a first generation device that explores a different way of interacting with a computer. And for a first gen device it is impressive. What they learned from building this, it will help them to improve the product to arrive at what is a device many more people can afford and use.

The first Mac cost close to 7500 US$ in today's money, and I am pretty sure that exactly the same arguments put forth here to talk down the Vision Pro where brought up back then. It is too expensive, it has little use scenarios, etc. And yet, here we are, chatting on a website called macrumors.

You know I was really skeptical, especially given the high entry point.

But now that I know Timmy Apple is using this thing everyday, I think that cements it. Time for us all to shell out the dough and jump onboard.

We identified the AVP user who could afford to buy them…

Honestly I don’t believe him. Pictures or it didn’t happen 😂
Happy now?

Tim Cook says I leave my Vision Pro headset on a stand on a bookshelf and never touch it except to show it to friends and when one of my housekeepers dusts it.

Said Tim Cook not.

Of course he says he uses it every day. What do people expect?

That's nonsense. Plenty of people are complaining about the neck pain
Says you, who is giving an opinion based on rumors.
Read my post again... In the beginning some people may experience discomfort, but later on it goes away.
Neck therapy involves doing exercises to strengthen your neck muscles. Painful in the beginning, but if you persist you will eventually see the results.
I just shared how it worked out in my case.

And what so bad about that? You have to wear glasses, hats, helmets, Face protection, etc.
What’s so wrong about wearing a device design to wear on your head?
If you don’t’ like it, that’s your choice. Speak for yourself, don’t try to guess what others think.

The main issue in this conversation had to do with $3500.00
Heck!
There are people paying $3000 for sunglasses and $5000 for Sneakers, so what’s the problem?
Can’t afford an AVP? Look for a different cheaper product. Move on. Stop the whining already.
Every time the AVP is mentioned, the toxic replies have to follow.

Well sure, you're entitled to make your counterpoints, and I wouldn't expect anything less, but it seems to me that I'm not the one whining (your words) about conflicting opinions and declaring them to be 'toxic' on the basis of the fact that I don't like them. But for clarity, I probably should have said "one" instead of "you" as it was a broader point that the majority of folk just don't like wearing computers on their face. You're entitled to disagree, of course 👍

Remember the time when most people opposed to using microwave ovens?
it used to be the hot topic for debate.
Now there’s at least one in every home.
In the end, all that resistance was futile, a waste of time.
There will always be people resisting to new things, until these become commonly accepted.
Kudos to brave ones that are not afraid to explore the uncommon.

The "100 foot screen" thing is overhyped. If you put any screen close enough tot your fact it's going to look huge.
Yeah, this thing called visual fidelity - sure I could stick my face a few inches from my 65" tv.... and stare at glare and pixels all day and blurred blobs.

Tell you know don't understand how screen resolution works without telling me.

People would finance their way into Vision Pro if they thought it was good, just like MacBook Pro.

VP simply ain't good.

Not everyone has those kinds of credit limits or credit available at all.
PS. Even if you have a $3900 limit, you'd max the card - which will destroy your credit score.

I think it's really cool. Do the demo if you haven't yet. You know I've had one for months and I haven't even thought about watching porn on it. I'm sure someone has filmed porn using it which I guess would be pretty interesting if you're into that. My boyfriend would not be interested in trying that out, oh well.. :p

You need a kinkier boyfriend. I'd be making spacial porn for sure.... maybe that's what AVP needs - Grindr and scruff apps :)

You have a weak neck. In two weeks you will be fine.
I used to have a lot of neck pain due to an accident, not much anymore.
I actually also have a neck problem from a car accident 30 years ago - only recently found out via an MRT.
So I really want to strengthen my neck muscles to compensate:)

This is for that idiot that buys a Tesla truck and thinks he is cool when everyone else is laughing at them.

My meta quest 2 is used by the entire family. When we have visitors they love to try it on. And that’s for a product that’s so much cheaper. Meaning we can afford to get more than one if we love it. I imagine if I bought the Vision Pro it will be sitting on the desk looking pretty and precious. A big part of the value proposition is entertainment and consuming content. But it’s not for everyone unless they’ve a custom insert. If all you can say is wait ten years then we don’t even need this conversation.
Again, we're talking about a first gen product that was never intended to be used by mutiple people in the family. It is not geared towards you in its current form. The Apple Store employees will tell you the same thing. It's currently a fun toy and not much more.

The iPhone didn't start on third base. It was a home run. From Gen 1, they were the hottest tech device anyone could get your hands on at the time. Lines of people camping out for each iteration. iPhone update keynotes were basically rock concerts.

So far, AVP's trajectory is on par with, say, the original Cinema Studio Display - also a wonderful device, but at a price point and utility that wasn't destined for mass adoption.
The first iPhone couldnt even do copy and paste. It was a huge success because it built on an already gigantic existing market. AVP is basically an entirely new market. Id be willing to bet once the price drops they become incredibly popular. People like cool things.

I’m saying people don’t have weak necks just because the AVP is too heavy for them to use it without pain

And I’m not talking about “rumors” I’m talking about things people have said about their own experience

I’m not an expert on credit scores but doesn’t it go back up when you pay it off?
