Consumers understand why a M3 Max MBP 16 is worth $3,500. They don't question its existence.

But even at half the weight and price, consumers will ask, why should I strap something to my face and isolate myself? The inability for Apple to answer that question with a killer app means this won't sell well at $3,500 or $1,500.

Average consumer scenario 1: “Hey! Listen to this awesome song!” (Hands friend an iPod.)

Average consumer scenario 2: “”Hey! Look at these cool photos I took!” (Hands friends an iPad.)

Average consumer scenario 3: “Hey, check out this article I just read!” (Hands friend an iPhone.)

Vision owner: “Hey! This is cool! Let me show you… err… well… never mind.”

He doesn't want to look like a fool..for being the one guy that keep saying.. AR is the future.

True. And it’s a strange mistake to make. After all, the product they shipped is more VR than AR. Had Apple developed an iPhone add-on that was pure AR it might have succeeded. After all, they trained everyone to believe that AR was the goal and to ignore VR. Seems like an unforced error.

And so the ability for me to get in the position that I want to get in – including lying flat and putting the screen on the ceiling – is an incredible kind of experience. And of course, it's a 100ft screen. I mean, it's amazing the level of entertainment that it delivers.

So is nobody going to mention that the 100ft screen mode (Theater Mode) puts the screen level with the horizon and you cannot put it on the ceiling? What a blunder. Let's just assume he means putting it on the ceiling is a separate activity from using the 100ft mode but his statement makes it sound like he hardly uses it lol

With that being said, lying back in bed and putting a movie on the ceiling or browsing through photos was absolutely one of my favorite activities on Vision Pro.

It’s even worse. Its two tiny screens offset a few pixels from one another to simulate depth on lenses that are focused to a fixed 2 meter plane. It’s a mere illusion. I’ll take my real big OLED TV anytime.
Same, I love my Sony OLED. And the best part is multiple people can sit in the room and watch the same thing and SOCIALIZE. It seems people are allergic to that these days.

Looks like Tim wants to lay down instead of sit in front of a desk all day. He also doesn't want any one else seeing what is on his screens. It really is time to retire.

I think it's about 150 grams, and one to two generations of lens coatings + resolution upgrade away from being true. I use mine every day and he's totally right around the screen size advantages. The only downsides are the glare from internal reflections of the lens elements. The weight is also something after a few months you do really get use to.

If I am doing work for more than a few hours I am still going to sit down in front of my XDR display since the resolution isn't quite there.
This is the type of comments that are actually useful and leaves a real taste of how people are finding it.

If you don’t mind: How would you compare it to an Apple Studio Display if you have used one?
(Myself settled for ASD because an XDR is just too out of my justifiable use case budget).

Else, regarding this forum’s comments:
The short ones like “Tim is lying” (I also think he is stretching it) or the funny ones are all fine… but else it’s truly tiring the snarky remarks of people that have no need nor interest of it, will never ever have one in their lifetimes and don’t even care about VR at all. All in the name of quick likes harvesting.

Heck, some go as far as passively aggressively suggest “well, a few comments say more about the commenters than about Apple and its Vision Pro”. Alright, fine, walk that talk, state exactly what in a couple of paragraphs.

People could learn a thing or two from the commenter over here who made an honest attempt at how he is finding it in its current state.
No wonder so many familiar and appreciated useful contributors just get tired and disappear into the internet to never be heard of again around here.

Hey Tim, your Vision OS is better than Meta Quest UI. But the Meta Quest UI isn’t bad and the Quest 3 weight is way better (even after you corded the battery!!).

And the Quest 3 costs 14% the price!!! If I get a VR headset for content, etc (no gaming or hardly at all) I can still use the Quest 3 as a monitor/monitors for my work PC and Mac, it isn’t as heavy, oh and at $500 is a no brainer. The only thing I miss out on is Vision OS. Um, ok.

The "100 foot screen" thing is overhyped. If you put any screen close enough tot your fact it's going to look huge.
Obviously you’ve never watched a movie in VR. And the AVP experience is on another level. You cant have an option on it unless you’ve tried it. And yes, if you’re watching a 100’ screen, you feel like you’re watching a 100’ screen. And you can put yourself as close or as far away from the screen as you want and it still feels like you’re looking at a 100’ screen. It’s what VR does best (at this point) in my opinion.
