Regardless of whether it was TC or any other public figure, the clip intentionally / unintentionally breaks the fourth wall. If you’re unsure as to why you perhaps feel a bit odd after watching it there is a detailed Wikipedia page on what the fourth wall is and why it matters. The spell of Severance / Lumon is for me now broken.

I think the issue here is that Apple has a contender for an awards sweep and a cultural phenomenon on their hands and they're going to great lengths to make it happen, especially because this is really its first shot at doing so. Sure there was Ted Lasso, but Severance is going to make it look like small cookies.

S2 had some of the best advance reviews of any show I've ever seen and, on top of that, having watched the first two episodes of S2, both of them are more intense than even the finale of S1. And that was just wrapping up the aftermath of S1, not starting the new plot threads of S2, which have only been hinted at.

This is THE way people are going to enter the AppleTV+ ecosystem.
That makes sense. I guess it’s a fine line between advertising to build anticipation, and pushing so hard you repel people. For me personally, this went a bit far. But for others I’m sure they were comfortable with it.

In a way I envy you that this is a legitimate problem in your life.
I couldn’t classify it as a problem, but it is great to be reminded that there are certainly bigger issues to spend time thinking about.

I enjoyed the first season a lot. I was quite looking forward to the second season, although the time between seasons made me lose a bit of interest.

However the constant and intense shoving down my throat of this show, my Apple TV app, autoplaying trailers in my TV, and the extreme “building social media buzz” made me sick of the show before the second season even began. So although I think the episodes are out now, I just can’t be bothered watching them. I’m sure I will, but I need a break before it’s even begun.

This particular video requires ar least a month to forget.

I can’t be the only one.
The video was great. A bit of poking fun at one’s self and company.

Apple is trying hard to promote Severance. The show is OK, but nothing special. If anything, it's a little bit slow. Can they do better?

Honestly, Cook is as little an asset to this show as he is to Apple. It’s a bit shocking that Stiller felt the need to cater to his ego this way; or that cook has fallen so far as to want it.

So he’s a massive asset then? Because he’s done amazing things for Apple. MacRumors’ hatred of Cook for the sin of not being Steve Jobs leads to some really ridiculously bad takes.

Seriously where do you guys come up with this stuff? How do you know Cook requested this and Stiller gave in instead of say, the marketing people coming up with it and having to beg and plead for Cook to do it?

To be clear I have no inside knowledge either, but “notoriously private Tim Cook’s ego is so big he is forcing a Hollywood star to put him in an ad for a TV show” seems less likely than my supposition.

The forum Miss Cleo’s never miss an opportunity to make you laugh at them. What’s the old adage? It is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt?

To be fair, at least he's not the world's #1 Diablo IV player.

Elon Musk pays people to play on these accounts for him. He did it with Path of Exile 2 too and it was really obvious when he streamed himself playing "his" account that he barely played the game despite supposedly being at the top of the leaderboard.

Took me 3 or 4 tries to get through season 1 Episode 1, but once I gave it the attention it deserved I really enjoyed it...
I'm glad to hear this - I've tried to get into Severance two or three times, but each time I end up zoning out during the first episode. Now that Season 2 is here, I guess I'll have another go at Season 1.

To be fair I had the same issue with other shows (The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, etc.). Takes me a few eps until i'm locked in lol.

It really is a slow burn. Try to make it through the first two or three episodes. If you do, I suspect you’ll be on the edge of your seat by the end of the first season.

How do I hook up my Apple TV with encrypted hdmi to my standard television? 📺

Extraordinary smart move piggy backing on the heels of popular show all the while delivering value and innovation to apples customers and shareholders - which in turn makes the board happy.

The above seems like sour grapes.
Yeah he’s good at piggy backing on the success of things. Most notably Steve Jobs innovations. We’re still waiting for him to do something interesting rather than squeeze money out of dongles and services.
