It's not before time, I've had two third party cables so far and both have met untimely deaths (<1 year.....first one lasted 3 months but the warranty replacement process was so painful I didn't bother.)

Kudos to MR for being able to creatively drag out such a long article on something as mundane as a USB cable. :)

Anyone notice that Apple's USB-C cables have plugs that "click" into place on the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro but third party plugs seem to just rely on friction to stay in place? It's the Apple approach to the plug that I want to see in third party cables. Unfortunately this MFI part being sold does not appear to include the plug itself. Has anyone got third party USB-C cables that actually click in like Apple cables? The monoprice cables I have certainly don't, and neither do the couple USB-A to USB-C adapters I have.

These third party plugs loosen up too easily, losing connection for data transfer and/or charging. That's my biggest beef with USB-C at the moment. USB-A at least has a larger physical connection with more opportunity for friction to actually hold the cable in place.
