Apple's trade-in values also changed for some Android smartphones.

Trade-ins can be completed on Apple's website or at an Apple Store, and the credit can be applied towards the purchase of a new Apple product, or placed on an Apple gift card for later use. Apple's trade-in page offers a complete list of values.

Apple won't get my iPhone 13 mini for the trade-in that they possibly could offer.
It's worth way more for me, as a 'relik' 😂

I'll keep it a few more years, love my mini, and as long as there's no issues, it goes nowhere.

They screwed us over on an iPad in the UK... It was in perfect condition, I checked it, made sure it was all flat and didn't rock - returned in their crappy packaging and they said it was bent. No recourse or anything.

As I understand it it's a different company. Who's to say they don't make profit by saying things are bent when they are not and if I request it back they just bend it and send it back.

It's a problem with almost all mail-in services. When I tried to send my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 Wi-Fi to Swappa last year they cut the offer in half because...it didn't make phone calls. I questioned it and received a reply back that there was no issue with their assessment.

Ended up taking it to Apple once I got it back.

I might have to get a second battery replacement

The gap between Apple’s trade-in values and eBay prices for the same items used to be small enough that I’d just take the lower Apple trade-in price to save myself the hassle of selling on eBay.

That gap is getting bigger. I’m inclined now to upgrade less often and to sell my Apple gear on eBay or similar.

Can’t say Apple is holding its value when a year old product gets max 50% in return 🤔
Yeah; I hate that (as a 15PM owner). But Apple gear depreciates most in the first year of ownership. I used to be an annual upgrader. Once I moved to every other year, I started saving a ton of money because annual cost of ownership including depreciation is way less in the second year than the first.

Even if you don’t want to switch you should go to Google and see what you get for your 15 Pro and be surprised in a positive way.

I knew it while doing the trade-in with an iPad mini (5th gen) few days ago. The footnote said more trade-in value on eligible iPad towards an iPad Pro and expires on Jan 15. I didn't expect them to make adjustment on pretty much the entire line up.

I like how Samsung makes it really affordable to upgrade even from the previous year model (I believe around $800 trade in credit). Hopefully Apple will copy this in the future.

Carriers already do that; no need for Apple to get in the business...that said, no one needs to be upgrading yearly.

I always hand-down my phones or sell locally when upgrading. These trade-in deals suck!
