Who is saying it's a very small amount? Apple? Of course they are going to say that. Considering the number of people getting many many defective units in a row, and all of the stories on the web, I'd say the problem is actually quite rampant.

Lol. Man can't someone just defend an issue Apple has been getting "bad blog press" about? Look I am about to buy a 27" and I have been keeping up with the news about it and it just seems that it is blown up just a little too much. Of course you not going to hear from those with no problems. They happy:) Look I am out of here. You win!!:)

You expect NEW machines to be broken? Multiple times?? You don't see the irony in Apple completely sealing the iMac hard drives when you admit they WILL break? This is part of the problem.

This seriously sounds like a paid poster/damage control kind of thing. They do exist after all.

Thank you!!

I thought I was slaying trolls tonight ::slash slash:: haha so much fun!!

"cool factor, sexy"!?!? Wasn't that in a Window's commercial...

Us Apple lovers never show off our affections for our macs ;)

Sup Nt,

What I meant was... Apple's denial of a small flaw that they should address publicly early on instead of "tricking people" (very loose term, but if you're not telling the truth you're basically lying and tricking like very good lawyers:p) into buying something that seems like if it never seen the light of quality control.

The whole money thing was only 8 weeks after because the flood gate was about to burst, damage control I guess...

I love Apple, but come on, returning and returning and no explaining is like going to the doctors without a diagnosis. It's a waste of time and very frustrating... I do design work on my macs and I assume many others do too... so we don't have time to wait around or play russian roulette with a faulty mac again and again...

But with that being said and this new announcement, I'm about to get me a nice 27 inch :D

Look I feel your pain. I would be pretty mad myself! That is one BIG machine to be carrying back to Apple:) I guess this is why I have been waiting to get one. But hey you guys were the Guinea Pigs:) Now I guess it is safe for me to go out and get one:)

Actually I'm getting my first one too... Dude read my previous posts... I said I'm going to get one, I don't have one yet!

Damnit! no one is reading my posts! :D

Dude I am lucky I have time to post this much! Less reading past post:) I am a father of three who just has some time to kill:)

Perhaps you should take a course in reading comprehension.
Perhaps you should examine your own deceptive contextual inferences.

While ranting about the 27"iMac:

Doesn't work for a "premium brand" at a premium price.

People expect better, as they should. "Pay more, get more", not
"pay more, get the same crap as the cheap systems".

When you spend 4x what Macy's charges for a T-shirt just because it has
"DKNY" on it, you should be outraged if the seams unravel on the
first washing.

That glowing Apple on the lid should be good for more than just
posing at Starbucks.

In context, your interpolated reference to 'spending 4x' seemed to apply to both Macy's and Apple.

As for your debasing remarks about posing, this seems somewhat hypocritical, coming from someone who preaches so vehemently against discriminatory behavior.

for those who don't know this, apple care includes on-site repair for iMacs and MacPro because of their size. if you have apple care and live within a certain distance from an authorized apple dealer or apple store, you are not forced to haul it back to an Apple Store to leave it with them for a few days for repair.

(ii) Onsite service is available for many desktop computers if the location of the Covered Equipment is within 50 miles/80 kilometers radius of an Apple authorized onsite service provider located in the United States or Canada. Onsite service is not available for some parts. The service for parts that cannot be repaired by onsite service may be repaired under Do-It-Yourself Parts service as described below. Apple will dispatch a service technician to the location of the Covered Equipment. Service will be performed at the location, or the service technician will transport the Covered Equipment to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple repair service location for repair. If the
Covered Equipment is repaired at an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple repair service location, Apple will arrange for transportation of the Covered Equipment to your location following service. If the service technician is not granted access to the Covered Equipment at the appointed time, any further onsite visits may be subject to an additional charge.

Thanks good to know. I have Apple Care.

I'm really happy to hear they've fixed the issue. I was told so by a reseller as well.
I've been lurking here for months and I'm glad my Windows laptop died right when the yellow screens have been fixed. I can't wait for my first Mac to arrive. :)

This is true, as I have utilized it myself.

Thank you for posting this.

Look now don't beat me up but I just have to say: this is another reason we pay the so called "apple tax":)

Back on topic...

Noy sure where apple are getting this from but I have a late 2009 27" iMac and now with the second update its still flickering like mad.

Ive not contacted apple care yet as i knew the software updates where coming out to attempt to resolve the issue. Since they think the issue is fixed i think its time to contact them and see what can be done.

Hopefully the may replace it with a new 2010 build with no flicker:cool:

Andy

Calm down, Windows 7 is an excellent operating system.

Did they not do quality control tests before this product was released? I'm tired of 1st gen Apple products being plagued with issues that should have been caught. Glad to hear the issues should be resolved now.

Its only a good operating system because it takes a lot of pointers from the Linux world. (And I mean A LOT)

It was so nicer when they were less in your face about it...

Windows users silly. :p

Thanks! ;) Good to know, I have Applecare Protection Plan, but I hope not to need it :)

So the whole iLife2009 virus was just an imagination like the tinted yellow screens that was only a myth until people made noise...

Talking about facts...

Just slay'in trolls today ::slash, chop, chop:: :D

Go look up Trojan Horse in a computer dictionary, then go look up Virus. They are DIFFERENT.

The iWork '09 malware was a trojan horse.

Macs are not immune to malware, and there have indeed been some attacks in the wild. iWork '09 being the most well known, however as has been stated there are no known viruses for the Mac.

Argh!!!!

What to address?! They never admitted that there was a problem!

Besides, I think the basic 21.5" is a pretty good deal. That is the first Apple desktop that I have been considering buying for a very long time. Unless the screen size matters, why buy the big one which is essentially is still a quad-core laptop with glossy screen?
