just admit it, if you bought one, spent ~$4k (US--even worse for folks outside the US) after taxes & case, you are just turning a blind eye to everything wrong with it. i tried one of those things and felt exhausted after just 30 minutes. it's a terrible consumer product. offers very little value. you would have been better off buying a PS5 and 10 games, and then buy 4 more PS5s to gift to your friends so you can all play together... instead your stuck using some basic desktop apps on this terrible thing. isolated and alone.

you made a mistake. it's ok. apple fooled you. i mean did you see what those frog eyes actually look like to the outside? i mean it's all a joke.

heavy. nasty. smelly. dirty.
I'm guessing your keyboard smells the same considering where you obviously have it stored...

Problem is that both have to be on the airline wifi. So far only a few of delta planes have robust enough wifi. Wish there was no need fornwifi. Or maybe a mini router just for the 2 devices ( im not a compuer systems techie)
They couldn't both be on your Phone's WIFI?

Not sure what the big deal is with this leak. Is anyone expecting they will not use a faster chip?

I can confirm some rumors as well with everything single upcoming Apple device. They will all be improved with better hardware than previous generation models. You heard it here first!
Timing really is the big deal, knowing it’ll have an M5 narrows down the know likely time range of when the next AVP comes out substantially

I'm looking forward to the Apple Vision "Air". I hope that we will soon have conclusive and positive rumors about it because the wait until the end of 2027 will be long for a product that will contain an iPhone chip ..! Can't wait!

You have to understand that those individuals need to believe their own lie; otherwise they would be jumping off windows in regret after paying upwards of 4k for such a useless Tim Spindler-era product

The only bad thing I’ve ever heard about the actual experience of using the AVP is too much weight for all day use, I’ve never seen it described as “miserable to use”, in fact it’s usually just the opposite: the experience of using it blows people away… they just also usually come away without any idea of what they’d use it for yet. The experience of what it offers is fine, it just has no killer app.

And I’ve never heard it described as smelly, nasty, or dirty. Sounds like maybe you or someone you know with one just doesnt bathe regularly
I’ll give you some. The pass-through video is a fuzzy mess. Looking “through” the Vision Pro is a terrible experience. The marketing shots that show the “in the headset” view are total fabrications and probably qualify as illegal marketing. It’s basically just there to prevent you from walking into walls. But the reality is that there is no point whatsoever to be walking around in one. The only thing worth looking at while wearing the headset are the virtual elements.

The experience is not mind blowing either. It was more of a mixed bag. Some effects were neat (such as theater-screen sized video), but really nothing too special. I’d also experience strange visual artifacts due to the extreme lensing. For example, lines of text in the browser, such as MacRumors articles, would sometimes appear to me to sit at different depths/elevation. It was not comfortable to read.

Basically I found wall-mounted TV and iPad was a much better experience for living room use that the Vision Pro - and that’s not even accounting for the extra discomfort and inconvenience of wearing the thing.

It’s hard to say how this is going to be compared to the current screen people stare at. Unfortunately, right now it’s socially acceptable to stare at your screen during social interactions and driving. There seems to be some pushback with the same behavior when it comes to AR or VR glasses. I suspect this pushback will be reduced once they start looking like normal eyewear.

One could debate so this is a better alternative to the current system. Currently people stare down at their phone, not even looking at the other person. With AR they might be looking at additional things, but staring down at something not physically present might make them feel awkward so they will look at the other person. Who knows what will happen though. I don’t believe this will come out in my lifetime.
Totally agree, but I hope you have more than 5-10 years left...... look how much big tech is investing in this. I am sure they will be looking for a return sooner than you think. In fact all you need to do is to look at what Google presented at their IO this year.
I would suggest the Vision Pro will replace the laptop and glasses [or some type of AI device] will replace or morph the phone. Personally I hate phones as a device with people walking along with their head down addicted to a small screen, families sat looking down when at restaurants etc.

I’m at the point in my life where I could live another 25 years or 5 years. You never know and nothing is guaranteed.

I think it’s going to take at least 20 years for AR to mature and find a place in people’s daily life. Right now it’s at the nerd stage of the game. Think about how when computers took up whole rooms.

Oh, are we at the Siracusa-style "on an infinite timescale" arguments now?

Personally I think the technology will be mature around the year 30,000, when Tim Cook gets installed on his Golden Throne.

As the owner of an iPhone mini, I wish you were correct.

If they could somehow get these working for PC users with various flight and racing SIMs, they'd have buyers lining up.

VR simmers spend a LOT of money, and particularly when chasing the best VR quality.

Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately depending on who you ask my feelings don’t determine what is socially acceptable.
I’ve seen people driving distracted and I’ve seen people driving like they are probably drunk, but I can’t say that those people ever made me think that most people, or even many people, felt those behaviours were socially acceptable.

The reality is that some people simply don’t care about society.

I assume you don’t own a house if you would consider jumping off windows for $4000 worth of buyer’s remorse? Most home repairs/maintenance seem to hit that point these days. Hopefully you never need to reshingle a roof, as the cost would surprise you and you’d be high enough off the ground that the jump could actually hurt.

Behavior being social acceptable just means people have accepted it as the norm. It doesn’t mean they would do it. It just means most people aren’t going to look at you with some sort of shame or disgust.

When someone sees their coworker and says wow I just saw you texting and driving on the way to work. How could you do that?! Then walks away disgusted. When that becomes the normal reaction then it’s no longer socially acceptable.

One day we will get away from our rectangular screens and go to something like the AVP but more advanced. Distracted driving won’t be a problem because we won’t be manually driving cars.

When I watched a couple at another table stare at their phones for their entire meal without talking to each other, I figured that had become “socially acceptable” (and anyone that actually knows the English language should find some irony in that), but I live in an area where the police will pull you over for texting while you drive. Though I will admit that I still occasionally see it happening, I still believe most of us have yet to get to the point where we consider dangerous driving acceptable.

But, yes, I have no problem with someone staring at their computer in a car if they are not actually driving, and the way I’ve seen many people drive, self-driving cars would probably do better most of the time… it’s just that currently the times when they don’t do better, they tend to do much worse.

Not really. External battery is very practical. I tuck it in my shirt pocket
IDK about the battery...it's still totally mobile so it doesn't matter that much. I would use my 85% of the time over the desktop if the weight didn't destroy my vertebrae. THAT'S IT. that is the only thing holding it back besides speed of the processor being able to handle the environment, games and future AI related functions which is true of all VR and part of futuring a product.

It’s crazy to think about but the iPhone is only 18 years old. Before that I don’t think we were so attached.

No, it’s not that they tend to do much worse. It’s that they get news coverage. Quite frequently in my area there’s a drunk driver that goes down the wrong side of the highway and gets into a head on killing someone. When’s the last time you heard of a Waymo going down the wrong side of the highway and killing someone? One hit a pole a while back and it made national news.

There is two immediate benefit to upgrading the CPU and GPU. Yes the current iteration of VisionOS is running super smooth on the M2. BUT passthrough is a bit weak and low quality (much higher quality then its competitors but not good enough for a 3.5k product).

The camera isn't the limitation, it's Apple limiting the pass through resolution to keep the experience smooth. A bump to the GPU performance will allow Apple to run a much higher resolution passthrough experience, which is a big deal for me. (and one of the only reasons I returned my Vision Pro)

In addition the M2 is not that efficient it gets quite hot and sometimes the fans will even spin up and this is attached to your face so an M5 with a lot of breathing room can run cooler and much more efficient. Which then in turn can give us some better battery life.
I’ve never felt like the M2 was too slow for my use case which is 90% watching movies on long flights, 5% browsing websites, and 5% trying new apps. I’ve almost given up on being upset with the short battery life. The battery used to drain significantly while not in use but that been fixed, and I plug in every time I use it as my default.
There’s something intriguing about the idea of better pass-through but it’s sufficient for me to read my iPhone screen and even cook. The Apple Vision Pro passes my “chopping food with a big knife” test. I’m not sure what I’d do with better pass-through that I can’t do right now.

I love my house and have absolutely no regrets about the price paid for it; that’s the fundamental difference.

My main question would be whether they will increase RAM - a lot of memory is likely already dedicated to the AR world mapping processing, so the remaining space is limited for applications + on device AI.
I'd love to see a RAM increase but I don't think that's going to happen yet. This device is probably the ultimate use case for needing a lot of RAM with half the point of the thing being how much multitasking you can do and how many active windows you can have open at once. I'm sure it's fine with using swap, but I'm assuming we'll have to wait until the next Pro version for more RAM.....and I'm sure that means we're only getting 24gb at most not 32gb lol

I think it could be a much better refresh instead of just processor and strap to also do wifi 7 and a RAM bump
It doesn't matter how many revision Apple tries to sell, as long as they don't think about a proper use case for the hardware, there's no reason to ever get one.

Unless of course you are some rich techbro who doesn't mind paying thousands of dollars for a few short films produced exclusively by Apple
absolutely this and I'm dying to get one as the idea of the technology is perfect for me....there's just so few use cases yet, especially for the casual people. So little first party support from other companies that people interact with all the time. Having to use Netflix and YouTube through the browser is like 2008 iPhone vibes lol

They could provide enough use case going forward by doing just one thing- follow through with the sports thing and partner with at least one major sports league. As someone obsessed with sports I can't tell you how much I and others would be interested in the possibilities they teased in the demo. To watch a MLB game and feel like I'm standing on the field, or sitting curtsied for a NBA game, or on the goal post for soccer or NFL...the amount of money they could all make...also imagine if they had another tier to pay to get to watch a NFL game from a camera mounted on the front of a NFL QBs helmet.
If they could somehow get these working for PC users with various flight and racing SIMs, they'd have buyers lining up.

VR simmers spend a LOT of money, and particularly when chasing the best VR quality.
Also this. There wouldn't be near the people as the sports thing mentioned above, but ya sim guys are dropping large $ on their 3+ screen setup with all the things and/or VR setups. Apple could partner with F1 to maximize their sim trainers. Apple TV is getting F1, imagine being able to watch F1 race while feeling like you're in the car and can look around at cars around you etc.....endless potential

I went back and rewatched the OG iPhone keynote and then looked at the insane amount of features and specs it didn't have, and it's wild. Things you forget about and assume the iPhone had from the beginning it didn't have for years. So I'm praying we're just in such an early phase and they continue to go all in on this and turn it into the most amazing device out there
I’ll give you some. The pass-through video is a fuzzy mess. Looking “through” the Vision Pro is a terrible experience.
I had heard that with some recent software update, maybe the current beta? that they dramatically improved pass through in non-perfect lighting situations. Hopefully a M5 GPU could make this all even better
