Apple is probably collaborating with experiments with every major display manufacturer in the world.

Unconfirmed rumors that you’ll need to buy these with pre-configured folds at checkout and will have to visit an Apple Store if you later decide you want to change the angle.

This may or may not be true ?

The issue I have with the idea of a full sized on-screen keyboard, is the lack of bio-mechanical input. Sure, we got used to phone-sized on-screen keyboards, but as you increase the size of the screen, I think we’re losing too much of the input feedback of actual mechanical key movement, which effects productivity (speed and accuracy). That’s a trade-off I’m not willing to accept, all for the ability to get a larger screen when unfolded (which would then require a separate input device to work).

Again, are we SURE this isn’t an April Fools joke?
Would be the worlds least funny April fools joke if so.
I mean the tech is already possible on a small phone sized scale, and it won’t be a stretch to think Apple would consider it at least in their labs.
What a lacklustre premise for an April fools!!

“Look Apple may release something tech companies are already releasing and are interested in! Hahahaha April fools suckerrrrr. “

I don't even want one if it was cheap.

Probably a lousy experience to type on.

Looks CHEAP.

Old School Computing rules.

And where is the ports?

There is a saying, "know when to fold 'em", that I'm not sure is applicable here for the right reasons, or the wrong reasons

and Jobs would and "Know how o hold em..."

No it won’t.

You can’t make something flexible, complicated, durable and usable. Pick max two.

Samsung haven’t managed any of them yet ?

I wouldn't bet against it. Not to long ago the idea of glass as a screen and back panel on a phone would have been thought undoable. It's rally a question of would it be popular enough to make the R&D costs worthwhile. I suspect we'll see viable versions on phones long before tablets, simply because the size is smaller so initial yields will be higher.

Like it or not, foldable displays are the future. The technology will improve, leaving behind the various issues of today.

Terrible, stupid idea, if true. And if not true, another reminder of why I hate April fools day.

This would be so cool! Food it into laptop format for typing and other laptop-like functions, then flatten it out so you can use the Apple Pencil for creative applications. Lots of cool possibilities.

Personally I can’t wait until laptops can be rolled into a tube for easy traveling.

For the most part, legit websites do not participate in the day. But it doesn't stop nearly every news story on 4/1 each year being bombarded with comments claiming it is an April fools joke.

Not only that, with a physical keyboard, you can rest your fingers on the keyboard without typing. Having to hold your fingers slightly off screen sounds like RSI waiting to happen.

Nope. No it won't.

You can't make flexible laminates which are anywhere as durable as the ones glued to bits of glass.

Until the industry figures out how to make folding displays that don't look like cheap, creased plastic, I am not interested. Perhaps this is what Apple is waiting for too.

The first foldable device from Apple is still some time away. Will be interesting to see how the software is optimized for foldable iPad. Foldable devices from Apple will most likely be very expensive.

Short sighted thinking... like I said:

"Like it or not, foldable displays are the future. The technology will improve, leaving behind the various issues of today."

Technology will improve...
