Anyone get an email from Apple Support that they scheduled a day to pick up their phone but no timeframe?
 
Anyone get an email from Apple Support that they scheduled a day to pick up their phone but no timeframe?
On Friday I got an email with a "your jet black iPhone will be ready to pick up by Oct. 3rd at ____ Apple Store." No time frame. Presumably you get an email confirming it's ready for pickup and then seek out a manager whenever that email comes in. I just hope it's before the October 3rd date as that's 2 days outside my exchange window for the matte black I snagged.
 
Update, my "pickup by october 3rd" Jet black 256gb 7+ is ready for tomorrow! The email said come anytime during working hours and speak with a manager.

Now's game time. do i exchange my matte black for jet black?

Wow I'm so jealous! I would also be in your same predicament. I would exchange if i were you! Are you on IUP?

I am! Snagged a matte one and thought it would do just fine but the extra grip of the jet black is just too tempting. I don't use cases and the fine lines i can get over if it means good texture, and based on the jet black 7, I think the feel of the finish is going to really perfect my biggest qualm about the larger phones

Wondering if they'll let me buy the matte black that I exchange outright; significant other ended up loving it, can just pass it on as surprise.

I thought it would be earlier but not this early. They quoted me 10/3 initially. And I randomly got the email tonight at almost 10pm, wondering when it actually arrived

yeah you can buy it outright and then you'll just have to "reapply" for the IUP for your jet black. I hope i get the email soon! Your post just gave me so much hope. I, like you, hate cases, and would sacrifice minor scratches for the added grip. Plus, I'm sure many companies that make iPhone cases are already trying out protectors to apply to the back of the phone, something like screen protectors, but for the back.
 
Picked it up! Went directly to a manager; the device wasn't barcoded for a standard sales associate. They have these set aside. It had a sticker on it with a "hold until 10/4/2016" on it and my name, so the reservation is good for quite a while (about 2 weeks from when it's made ready for you). I ended up having to return the matte black one and couldn't outright purchase it since it went into return inventory unfortunately, but the swapover on the IUP was seamless and took < 5 minutes and I was out the door.
 
You're doing something wrong then, because you should have been able to place an order and receive it at least sometime in early October. IUP customers were restricted to in-store stock only, if the store didn't have it, you couldn't upgrade, period.
No, not doing anything wrong, color size I wanted out unit nov. Now we know, verizon did not get any plus of any color.

So how's the grip compared to the black?
 
Congrats on getting the phone. I'm glad to hear that it's grippy. That's the main reason I'm went for the Jet Black.
Same. Loved the matte finish too but like i said, don't like cases. The 6s plus finish I could do caseless during warmer months, but once my hands dried out, it felt a lot more uncomfortable like I was pinching the device harder as if not to let it slip. The jet black requires a very light grasp, the friction is stellar. And it's beautiful to boot.

He said he would see what he could do. I was told when I was notified, I could go and switch the rose gold for matte black. I went to do the switch tonight, and it ended up being a big hassle. The loan starts over as of today, instead of when I picked up the rose gold. The clerk didn't seem to know what to do. It was crazy.

My contact at Apple's Executive Relations team called me yesterday to let me know an 128 gig iPhone 7 Plus in Black is ready for me to pick up. Planning on stopping by and exchange the 128 gig iPhone 7 in Black I have now.

That's how the loan policy works unfortunately. It's tied to the initial hardware you bought and any exchange requires a return and new start of loan. Unfortunately for next year it could mean a 2-3 day delay in eligibility or an extra payment.

That's how the loan policy works unfortunately. It's tied to the initial hardware you bought and any exchange requires a return and new start of loan. Unfortunately for next year it could mean a 2-3 day delay in eligibility or an extra payment.
I know, but I have always upgraded every year.
 
On Friday morning I got the email to pick mine up today. Went ahead and did so and the process to return the black iPhone 7 Plus i bought a week ago, to the process of getting my jet black was basically seamless and smooth.
 
Anybody else contacted about picking it up early?
I haven't yet so I'm thinking I might have to return my current one on Thursday for a different phone and then return it again on Monday -_-.
