apple.com allowing me to add new iPhone to Verizon account with unlimited

While this may not be relevant to what's going on here (maybe?),

http://www.reddit.com/r/verizon/comments/2j9tes/the_loopholes_are_closed_folks_the_only_reliable/

It seems that hey are discouraging the Best Buy Method of upgrading and keeping unlimited. Does this mean this here will be ending soon shortly?

It actually seems then that these purchases would go up in price because they will retain your unlimited since they were bought with unlimited data plans.

I don't buy this rumor, though.

So, if I buy a used phone, I may now have to worry that I will lose my unlimited data? Yeah. Seems far fetched.

Verizon would really be shooting itself in the foot with the angry customers losing their unlimited plan when technically playing by the rules.

Buying a used phone is like buying a full price phone so that post is only for using some sort of subsidized upgrade

I'm not sure that you read the link. Not said the system now scans the MEID's for the phones on all accounts to see if it was purchased through a subsidy, and if it was, it knocks off the unlimited data.

So, when I buy a used iPhone that was bought with a subsidy from somebody else, according to what that person is saying, I would lose my unlimited. I'm not guessing around or anything, I'm just quoting what he is saying. I find it to be very far fetched.

Exactly. Only phones bought via a subsidy are those upgraded. Bringing your own device or paying full retail isn't using a subsidy

----------

No then it wouldn't be bought ON YOUR LINE with a subsidy. It's where it originated

----------

Again isn't confirmed by big red or anyone else so we shall see

That's not what the person said. He said the system scans to see if the device was bought with a subsidy and if it is knocks off your unlimited data. Didn't say anything about it having to be bought on your account. A system like this seems very very "out there" - especially if it's checking who's account the MEID's were BOUGHT on too.

The way I see them patching this loophole is by making the plan changes immediately as you order the phone, instead of waiting for the sim to do the plan change.

----------

Another thing I'd add is this. From past experiences, the reps from MANY different departments have not been able to find what phone was purchased using a subsidy. Call me crazy, but I honestly believe that right now, their system doesn't keep track of what MEID was purchased using an upgrade. Think about it also, that if you get your phone replaced or swapped at apple for a warranty issue, Verizon isn't told about a new MEID... You just out your new phone on the line.

As you said, none of us know for sure. Highly highly highly unlikely, though.

We shall see if and when something more concrete happens

Success, Success, Success!!!!!!!!!

I got me a brand spankin' new iP6 AND an unlimited, unthrottled UDP line - :apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D:apple::D

Now give them both to me
Technically, I don't have the UDP line, it is on my friend's account, but I am AOL'ing it tomorrow - don't want to risk the sucky night-time AOL reps.

But I got the iP6!!! I paid him cash in the parking lot, I felt like I was buying drugs or something exchanging cash in a parking lot, lol!

I'm now thinking if I should do what I did for my sister with this rumor going around. I was originally going to transfer my upgrade to her new UDP line and upgrade through bestbuy

The worst that can happen is you will have to return the iPhone to get your unlimited data back. But I doubt you will need to do that.

haha you had me worried there jules
Oops, sorry! This is the first time I have ever bought an iPhone directly from apple.

I think it is BS first off, but I don't have time to read it all right now.

Since your line is currently month-to-month, you would port your number to a prepaid plan, cancel the line, add a new UDP line via apple, port your number back to the new UDP line and sell another iP6+. Then buy a Nexus 6 or a Droid Turbo.

Someone on another forum said he heard that verizon was implementing a new billing system.

----------

I love unverified statements

Me too. Especially on the Internet. Gets people all up in arms about something that is most likely nothing.

I just read through the reddit post - it is total BS. The dumb ass didn't even bother to think through what he was posting. This would mean anytime you purchased any phone that had been bought on a subsidy on anyone's account and put it on your UDP line, you would lose your UDP.

LOL! No.

While I can think of a few ways for Verizon to close the loophole, that ain't one of them!!!!

----------

Come on 2am refresh, I am ready for UDP line 2!!!!!

Ah alright. I will just go on with my original plan of transferring upgrade. Yeah I thought it seemed too drastic of decision for verizon to make.

No way in hell is Verizon going to implement a change right in the middle of the iPhone launch followed by the holiday season.

February you need to worry, but not until then.

Agreed! I know your views may differ on this, but I don't think unlimited data is very high on Verizon's priority list right now. I personally think that they have realized it's not worth pissing its customers off by doing everything they can to get us off. Hence canceling the plans to throttle, and this very apple glitch. Let's be honest, if they were pissed enough, this would definitely be changed/fixed by now- no doubt about it.

I tend to agree with this. In the grand scheme of things the actual # of UDP plans being added is a very small percentage of all the plans being added on Verizon at Apple.

Yeah, they can take it away at any time.

yeah, even though it may seem like a lot to us, it is a drop in the bucket compared to the volume of sales they are doing right now.

I just want this madness to stop already LMAO mixed bag of emojis

----------

One more day until I have my note 4

I just sold my new UDP line to a neighbor so I don't even need to AOL it - he can AOL it directly from my friend!!!

Ready for Round 2!!!!
