People are anal every year around this time as millions of nerds wait for a new phone to be delivered. :)

Hah! I learnt a lot about shipments through this thread. I have multiple Apple products starting way back from the Powerbook and I have almost always just walked into the store to get one or stood in line.

I just wanted to skip the line this time to see how the experience was. It's just fun to track the phone and it's all a nice build up for getting one :) even if the assumptions turn out to be wrong and we're just rambling.

I have a question. Noticed some people on other carrier threads having hope on shipments coming in from China but I thought those were only for orders made on Apple, not carrier phones. Am I wrong?

Right, it takes 3 hours to get to Seattle from Anchorage by air and a minimum of 8 hours to get to Louisville from Anchorage. So going from Anchorage to Louisville and then Seattle only makes sense if Louisville is the only hub that can handle the capacity of shipments.

It all makes sense, wasn't aware that Anchorage wasn't 'the' hub for China flights. Even if it was a fuel stop I wonder why it isn't made a hub if all flights have to stop by there when coming state side from China.

Anyway, I'm not complaining my phone's off to Louisville and then probably off to Seattle. Although I don't see UPS flights from Louisville International. Maybe UPS has their own airport in Louisville?

I'm in Seattle also and usually my stuff goes through Rialto, CA or Ontario, CA, so it is odd that they're sending the west-coast-destined phones so far east.

Check out the UPS World Hub in Louisville a few pages back or on Youtube. Incredible Logistics!

Yeah, and often times if I fedex an envelope from San Diego to Los Angeles, they put it on a plane to Memphis and back to Los Angeles overnight. It's just the way things work in a hub and spoke distribution environment.

I think the reason they don't have a hub in ANC is because it'd defeat the purpose of a hub architecture. Watch the documentary on the Memphis WorldPort. It's amazing. FedEx and UPS operate almost identically with Louisville and Memphis respectively. Everything from around the country comes in at the same time every night, they transit to new planes to their destination, and they all go out at the same time.

Regarding the fuel stop... speculation here, but just like if you fly from Europe to the US in the winter, it's not uncommon for planes experiencing head winds to stop for fuel in Goose Bay, Canada... wouldn't make sense to make Goose Bay a hub since the airlines have existing hubs where it's more efficient to get people and cargo in and out of.

With my luck, I'd just be dealing with a case of something my phone picked up from a drunken encounter with an Android phone sideloaded with malware.

"I don't want to talk about it, just put me in DFU mode and we'll never speak of it again."
It could be worse. It could have strayed out with ... *shivers* ... Windows phone. "Did you force touch that surface?!??"

Mine was in Rialto last year. Since I have no shipping info. I would be willing to bet it is there again. A quick flight to Portland and it sure seems like a truck is almost on the tarmac. Plane lands, phone is out for delivery.

"That does it, I'm making a Genius Bar appointment and getting a warranty replacement."

Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week. Er, well, at least until sometime on Friday.

That's how it went for my Apple Watch. I got the shipping info the evening before it arrived.

This is jacked up. Your iPhone got drunk and surly, @HopeWV phone is pregnant, and mine came with visible signs of visiting the Chinese App Store. Talk about partying hard prerelease!

Come on down to the party! We are the only ones having fun in this fiasco, course our phones are having more fun. 2 mins of ecstasy for my phone and 9 months later I have a mini iPhone and another line on my AT&T plan! Eesssh launches are expensive!

Two minutes? What kind of lousy phones is your phone getting down with?
