Well here's what UPS online chat said. I still don't understand what happened but am crossing my fingers for a delivery tomorrow. (I'm in NYC so I'm hoping I'm not affected by the Pope's visit--I'm not in a closed zip code). Did anyone else get a delivery exception notice from UPS?
Initial Question: I received an email and text saying that a "modified intercept" request was made for my package, and that the request for this package was canceled. Can you tell me what this means? Is my package still on track for delivery to me tomorrow?'

I called UPS this am because of the Exception put on my delivery status last evening saying my delivery date may be changed although it was still saying 9/25. The person I spoke to knew it was an iPhone and said it had been at the hub since the 22nd. Since Apple won't allow them to deliver until 9/25 an exception was put on it. No problem, but since I had changed delivery to pick up at the hub on 9/22 and it was now saying delivered by the end of the day I was confused. I was told it will be at the hub tomorrow (I hope). Tracking still has it in transit from Harrisburg to UPS.

My local hub is not particularly "local," and I don't get off work until 1900 tomorrow. :-(

UPS tracking messages can be a little weird/hard to understand when a package is held for pickup. You should get it tomorrow if it's held at a hub, but a little more tricky if it's going to a UPS Store since your package is "re-addressed" to the store.

It will be; you'd be amazed at how fast things can be moved around the world nowadays. By the time you wake up tomorrow morning it will be at a local processing facility.

It is the Sept 25 in China and the trip to AK will cross the international date line and you scan will read Sept 24th.
You don't need to worry, you will get it on time.
I was told it will be available when they open but can be picked up anytime that day until close. If not picked up tomorrow they will hold it for several days before returning to shipper.
I just want to UPS Choice thinking about this and when I started to switch it to pickup the date changed from tomorrow to Monday. I canceled the change and will wait for tomorrow's delivery - usually late afternoon or evening unless they're making a special delivery run with the phones.

You have to remember the plane picks up a day crossing the ocean, so it will actually arrive before it left. Then from Alaska to its next hub is no more than 8 hours. Patience
