I get one of those right after midnight for all of my UPS packages. It's BS. When I get the notice, my packages are still in Salt Lake City and need to be driven down to southern Utah.
I feel I've read it's best to activate it on the line it was upgraded on for a couple hours before switching, is that necessary?
Finally left Philly. On it's way to NY now. Should be here around 5 AM EST

Yes it will be as simple as swapping sim cards provided the other phone you are switching from also has a NANO sim. Which iPhone 5 and up use. The new MEID will be updated automatically on VZW once you swap the sim.
It will be advisable to swap sims after activating the new iPhone. I believe with previous iPhone when you first power it on it will ask a few security questions before it activates. If I remember it just asks the last four numbers of the social and an account password if you have one setup. I also believe when you activate the new iPhone is when data plan gets added when switching from a dumb phone to smart phone. At least in my case the VZW account is still showing the dumb phone and no data plan $30 for 2GB has been added yet. However, my contract already has been extended. And I am handing down iPhone 5 to the previous dumb phone line.
This just means it's been put on the truck. The driver won't leave till 7:30am local time. First they have to make deliveries to businesses, which end by 10:30am. After this, they will start dropping off residential packages. It'll arrive though

I'm with you. I have work all day tomorrow. I could care less about going to work tomorrow. I want to call in sick and wait for the UPS truck. Im nervous that I'm going to be at work when its delivered, and that I won't be able to pick it up until Saturday or at worst Monday. Im hoping UPS does Saturday deliveries.
I work all weekend and today. Hoping someone can be here to sign for it cause I don't trust leaving an "iPhone sized package delivered during release week" sitting on my stoop in my area...Still figuring this one out.

My phone says Updated delivery date but still today. It's not out for delivery yet but is only about an hour away from its destination.
Another unusual shipping occurrence. I live 100 miles due north of DFW and 100 miles due south of OKC. They trucked my iPhone from DFW to OKC. Now they are trucking it half ways south again to get to my local UPS to place on the truck. A flight from DFW to OKC would only take an hour so I know the three hour trip was by truck. In the name of logistics UPS saw fit to waste 200 miles worth of diesel...
Well, the first one is now on a truck for delivery. The second is still MIA. Estimated delivery date is "information not available". So, no, I don't think it's normal.
