It's terrible that UPS did that but it's not your fault and you shouldn't stop your life because of UPS messed up they will have to figure it out at your convenience.

It's terrible that UPS did that but it's not your fault and you shouldn't stop your life because of UPS messed up they will have to figure it out at your convenience.
Firstly, possession is 9/10th of the law. Since UPS gave it to you, it's yours to do with as you please. They can't expect you to put your life on hold because of THEIR mistake. As far as Apple is concerned they have their money, and handed it to UPS to be delivered to the customer. Technically UPS has to fork over the money to get a replacement delivered to the proper location.
EDIT: Unless the customer put down the wrong address, in which case you received an iPhone as a gift at their expense, and UPS and Apple don't really have to do anything about it.
I kinda feel bad for the guy the phone belongs to. If it were me I would have contacted him and met him in a safe public location and given him his phone.
Almost let UPS mess up my launch day. As soon as the tracking showed up on My Choice I choose the option to have it delivered to the closest UPS store to my job. I went to the store at 10am and the guy there said they get their delivery around 11-ish. I called back around 2pm and was told that they didn't receive my package and to call UPS. Called them and spent 20 mins on hold while a manger tried to find my package. He found it still at the CC and it wasnt going to be sent to the UPS store til Saturday. So i had to go pick it up at the CC although when I go there they couldnt find it. Long story short they had to call over to their warehouse which was in another location and found it. I wasnt going home til i got my 6s+ on release day.
Can you leave it with a neighbor with a note on your door to tell the UPS guy where it is?
PS - No UPS deliveries today in the area where I live. Guess earliest will be Monday. I can only hope.
Hope everyone survives UPS nightmares and is enjoying their 6s soon.
Same. I would've just gone to the address, written on the package as should have the UPS guy to begin with.
They said no to that because it's linked to my name and being delivered and signed by me. He could always go back and claim I didn't give it to him. I would be stuck because I wouldn't have the tracking that says UPS received it from me
I'm going to my nieces party soon. if they come and I'm not here so be it. I work mon-fri they already inconvenienced me enough. I was going to take tomorrow off unpaid but decided not too. UPS made mistake they can get It in the eve or something. They won't come to my work because it has to be from the location delivered, how stupid.
Apple said they are taking care of it. Whatever that means. UPS said it will go back to shipper so who knows maybe Apple has already sent him a replacement. I guess they have protocol for these situations.
I'm a female and have never gotten someone's package before. Only pieces of reg mail. I went to UPS store but manager they said it had to be picked up by hub that delivered.
Whatever, I'm not going to stress over it.
Good for you. You shouldn't have to return it at all an if a replacement was already sent, I would honestly just hold on to the phone.
Well I don't know for sure I'm just guessing. I don't know what apple meant when they said their taking care of it. It's almost 3 so I'm going to go to my nieces bday party. I waited on my day off.
They can call and make an appt when they want to get it. Someone mentioned maybe put it in a bag with a post it outside the door while I'm at work.
I'm so tired not gonna stress anymore. I tried. I even drove after the guy 5 min after he left in the dark neighborhood looking for him.
For those that have an Apple Watch. Did you guys notice better battery life? I have about 20-25% more battery at the end of the day. My Gus's is the iPhone 6s Bluetooth 4.2. This is great either way! Lol
Apple can't come after you. UPS should be kissing your feet on this, because legally they are in the lurch. They should be sending a supervisor at your convenience to pick it up.
But what about the person who's phone it belongs too. Do you think Apple already mailed him another?
That is for Apple and UPS to work out. UPS ****ed up and the tracking proves they did. UPS has to pay Apple or Apple may just send another device free of charge from the kindness of their hearts, but either way, you shouldn't worry and stress over it. You got a new toy for free and you should be happy. As for UPS wanting it back, they can't really take it back unless you agree to handing it back, and they should do at your convenience, not theirs.
UPS Super said they would come today. I left for only 90min for nieces party I see no notes they came by unless they will come tonight.
I don't know. I'm pretty sure Apple won't tell you, as that would be invading the other person's privacy. I understand you feel for the person who didn't get their phone, I'm feeling the feels for them right now too. UPS is the one that screwed up, it's on them to make it right, and you have gone above and beyond trying to get it back to them. They cannot expect you to use vacation or not get paid to get this phone back to them. If they insist they have to pick it up at your home, then they have to pick it up at your convenience, not theirs.

Yep. Heard plane at this location. Crazy that folks slept there. I got there at 9:30 ish am and my phone wasn't in the hold section. UPS guy offered and did call me when it was ready for pick up. I went back since I live 5 miles away and picked up phone. It must have been nuts for UPS guys and I feel for them too.

UPS is religiously here at the package delivery/valet by 1:30pm. My last few delivery times for preorders never goes past 1:45pm.
Looked down from my balcony to see the truck pull up.
Went down to meet the guy as he was opening the rear cargo door. He knew from the past exactly what I was looking for.
He was looking and after a few minutes of poring over every shelf he looked at me and said its not there. Doh! Oh dam moment.
He checked the handheld scanner he uses and it was verified to be on the truck.
After searching another couple of minutes he found a spot in the corner by the cargo door that the box got wedged into and was literally unseeable from most vantage points.
He pulled it out of there and I was relieved. I tipped him $10 for the effort and he was really appreciative for "buying him lunch".

Don't worry. I'm tracking an iPad delivery scheduled for Monday. Last night all the tracking info reset just like that, but then went back to normal this morning. It's just a glitch. I even Googled it and learned that it happens from time to time.
They're not falsifying information, the DB is just down. Happens to me all the time. It'll come back in a few hours, and it will be delivered on Monday, and all the tracking info will be there again.
Here's what I don't get. My package shipped out yesterday and based off of the other screenshot, should have arrived at the next station with in a few hours, but this is how it is now, and the only change since it initially shipped and now is that my delivery day went from Wednesday to Tuesday, not complaining. Also how does it arrive to, after it departs from, this location? Keep in mind local time in China right now is 10:32 PM 9/27/15 as of writing this.
