This has probably already been asked somewhere and answered. If so I apologize.

If I pre-order from Apple.com to have the phone delivered, how and when will the system determine I am eligible for the discounted pricing?

According to att.com, I am qualified for the discounted price. But I'd rather order from Apple.com and have it delivered.

If you goto store.apple.com and click on the iPhone it will ask to check your eligibility. You need to enter your phone #, social security #, and zip code.

You'll just enter your phone number on apple.com, and it will determine if you are eligible. Then you'll proceed with the purchase. No big deal.

Any ideas??
Yes during the pre-order process you will enter your current phone number if you want to port it and you will also provide your account number and depending on your carrier you may need to provide your password or PIN.

This is to allow the porting process to complete after you complete the activivation / setup of the iPhone 4.

When I tried to do a test run of purchasing an iPhone 3GS on apple.com I was told this:

People need to stop saying this sh*t. This was the case back in 2008, not now. Those problems have been solved. Stop spreading 2 year old advice.

they have been solved? that hadn't when I purchased my 3gs on launch day! and that was from apple not att

well considering my FAN comes from a previous employer... I just don't want an issue ;)

+1

also still haven't gotten clarification. I know att will ship to an address different than the billing address but don't think apple will? Apple also requires a signature so if I'm not home that would suck. I'm getting it shipped through att

When you goto store.apple.com and try to get a 3GS and put your info in.

What does it say for you after it says "please wait while we process your request"?

I get this when I go through the process on apple site :( I'm on a premier account and have a FAN it looks like I have to order on AT&T site or can you call and pre-order over the phone???

Correct, your account has a FAN that is not supported on the Apple Site or Apple retail store. This is not for all FAN only ones that fail the check below....

Again for others, please check your eligibilty here and if you get an error message like above you can't pre-order from Apple!

I have a FAN, but my company doesn't cover the iPhone insofar as equipment discounts - just the voice & data plan. I did a "test run" via Apple.com last night, and didn't have any problems (other than it showing the base price for my voice & data plan, but I was expecting that).

We'll see how it goes tomorrow :)

I just got the same message. What the heck does this mean?
What are you trying to do?

Order a new line, a new add-a-line to existing FamliyTalk or just upgrade a line.

The screen shot is the the "Reserve" redirect when your pre-order is not supported but it would help if you provid a little context.... or a bigger screen shot.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7D11 Safari/528.16)

I have a FAN account and it shows me the priing of the 3GS & 3G, I guess I'm good to go to order via apple.com for home delivery.

I did a dry run of a 3GS order on Apple.com. I am upgrading the primary line on my AT&T account with a FAN attached my account. I am hoping this doesn't happen to my iPhone 4 pre-order tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll have to pre-order though AT&T.com.

I also have a FAN, but it does not recognize that, and shows the pricing as if I did not have one. Is there a problem?

Do you know you have a CRU or IRU type of account?

Corporate Responsibility Users (CRUs) and Individual Responsibility Users (IRUs)

If you see that issue again, unless there is a specific backend issue ( Apple needs to communicate with that AT&T systems ) then your account can't be serviced by Apple. AT&T does not share all customer(s) with Apple.

For example, I have a FAN on my Account which is a IRU (I pay the bill) and it works just fine with Apple Online orders. I was able to pre-order last year at Apple online without issue.

No, that is not a problem. AT&T does not share any service discount you have on your account with Apple. You will get your normal service discount even if it is not shown on the Apple site.

This would be an IRU. I pay the bill for my phone but get a discount because of where I work, but the company does not pay for it.

SO if I order from Apple.com tomorrow and have it shipped to my workplace, will Fedex/UPS require that myself and ONLY myself sign? Or can our admin assistant sign for the phones? (My wife's and mine) I imagine they just require somebody's signature, not just mine.

I have a question:

I want my iPhone the day it comes out. If I pre-order the phone to come to my house will it be shipped on release day or will it delivered to my house on release day? Pending shipping companies of course
