Yes i don't know why people would restore from backup on a brand new phone.
Just restore contacts and photos on iCloud
iCloud isn't big enough for all my photos. Plus I want to retain all my texts etc.
If you called AT&T and they told you they did the swap, then it seems yes. Don't hold me to that if your phone operation is critical at this time. Here is the thread.

Faster way to load all the apps instead of trying to remember them all and getting them from the App store again.
This happened to me once with FedEx. The driver assumed I wasn't home. He did not ring the door bell. I heard him leave the slip at th door. I opened the door to see FedEx speeding off. I called in on him and supervisor was with him when he came back.
I used another persons Verizon upgrade (Not on my account) Looks like I have to activate it on their account first, then deactivate it, then activate it on my account. What a PITA,

all they going to do is refund shipping which was free for end user so if anything apple gets a refund

To whom it may concern, I ordered last friday at 9:00am EST and was getting the Oct.5 ship date. My account was charged at 5:00pm last night, an hour later my order went to "preparing for shipment", woke up this morning at 7:30 and had an email saying your iPhone has shipped. I have a tracking number but no other details on it right now, nor ship date. Hope more people are getting this!!!!! Congrats to everyone who has already gotten theirs!
This is encouraging. I ordered last Friday at 8am ET, my status has changed to "preparing for shipment" but no credit card charge yet. Hopefully it will convert over soon. And who knows, maybe we'll see our phones next week?!
You have got to be kidding me. I was on hold for no more than 5 minutes, and the lady from AT&T was super helpful and nice with my Upgrade Swap! She even thanked me for not activating my phone before placing the call (thank you for telling me not to by the way!). I hope all goes well!
