Wow, C3 - a whole 'nuther factory.

With a week J6, that means your iPhone 5 was probably one of the first ever made:

Serial number: C39J6........
Production year: 2012
Production week: 32 (August)
Factory: C3 (China)

lol not sure how i feel about that

AT&T Voice Plan

I successfully preordered through apple.com and was able to keep my unlimited data and text plans. However, my minutes are not showing up--any reason to be concerned?

Thanks.

whats the number you have on file at apple.com? use that one.

I tried that one too. What makes it confusing is I am using my dad's account back up phone's upgrade. So I tried that number, my dad's number. Also tried my number (as I used it through Apple) and the primary account holders number for my phone too.

Nor is there anything for the Apple Support page with my i5.

And another C3:

Code:
Serial number: C3XXXXXXXXX
Group1:
Group2:
Generation:
Production year: 2012
Production week: 36 (September)
Memory - number of slots: Please tell us how many memory (RAM) slots this machine has.
Factory: C3 (China)

Apple Shop at "Preparing for Shipment", no UPS tracking yet. 32GB, Black.

So is it bad if mine is still "processing" at this point? The website says it'll arrive Friday, but I'm starting to get jealous of those of you who who are already down the line. :p

I'd be interested to find out if the manufacturing location has any correlation with the ability to find tracking information.

It appears phones manufactured in Zhengzhou have already been shipped and can be found on the UPS website.

It appears phones manufactured in Chengdu have not yet been shipped and cannot be found on the UPS website.

When posting your tracking results it would be beneficial if you also posted your manufacturing location.

Serial numbers starting with DN are manufactured in Chengdu

Serial numbers starting with F1 are manufactured in Zhengzhou

I have tracking info for my Chengdu manufactured Black 64GB.

Location Date Local Time Activity
ZhengZhou, China 09/16/2012 9:50 P.M. Arrival Scan
09/16/2012 9:30 P.M. Departure Scan
09/16/2012 8:14 A.M. Origin Scan
China 09/16/2012 6:28 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

After constantly trying to track by reference, my package shows as well! Doesn't seem like anyone has FedEx yet.

EDIT: Interesting, upon logging-in to UPS MyChoice, I see it is going to be delivered by 10:30 AM.

Where do you find that in MyChoice?

for track by reference....
USE BILLING PHONE #

Yep. That worked for me :)

iPhone 5 shipped. I was able to get my tracking number by reference using my billing phone! AT&T 64GB white.

ZHENGZHOU, CN
Shipped on: Sunday, September 16, 2012 7:52 AM
Delivery to: BROOKLYN, NY, US
Scheduled for: 5 Days Friday, September 21, 2012
Service: EXPRESS
Weight: 0.40 KGS
Updated: It's up to date.

just saying, the last two letters in my serial number are WH..

White?

Not likely by itself... typically the last 3 characters in the serial have indicated product differences.

I had two iPhone 3G phones (16GB, white) and they both ended in 1R4

I had two iPhone 3GS phones (32GB, white) and they both ended in 3NS

I had two iPhone 4 phones (32GB, at&t, black) and the both ended in A4T

My current two iPhone 4S (64GB, at&t, white) both end in TDR

One of my iPhone 5 phones ends in F38Y and one ends in F38W. The serials are now a character longer, so I'll go out on a limb and say it's the last 4 that now identify the product.

One is a 64GB, at&t, white - the other is a 64GB, at&t, black. Would love to know which is which.

Thanks.

My looks the same now, but earlier it did show the minutes plan, which is odd, because the line I ordered on isn't the main line with minutes. I wouldn't worry, since every time I have ordered from Apple I have only been asked if I want to change data or text plans.

I ordered one black, and one white.. Both 32gb AT&T
I have no idea which is which.

It's the last 4 characters of the serial that will tell you...

the ones that make up your unique serial are the characters 6-8. Those are the only ones you need to mask out.

My serials are:

F17JD...F38Y
DNPJC...F38W

Both at&t, both 64GB. Only difference is one is black and one is white. Someone else with a white only/black only 64GB for at&t will have either F38Y or F38W as well.

You can find your new iPhone's serial number at https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
