I went on at about 12:24 PT, "reserved" the phone because the Att servers were down or something, and had to wait for the email to complete the order.

Got the email to complete the order shortly after but It said I had until Saturday at 5pm to complete it to maintain my delivery priority, I didn't do it right away because I had second thoughts on reserving at that point.

at about 1pm on Friday I ended up completing the order to see what happened. now my order still says "Processing Items" and
"Delivers 9/21 via Standard Shipping" for a 32GB Black & Slate (GSM) on At&t...

Has anyone else done something similar with their order move to preparing for shipment? If my order is "processing" is that a good chance that I have a phone reserved and will get it on launch day?

^ exactly what I did... says it will be here on the 21st and as of an hour ago it had finally changed to preparing for shipment.. so I think we are all good!

Mine just went to Preparing for Shipment
16 GB Black, ordered on Apple.com ~3:45 AM EDT, delivers 9/21 Holiday Shipping, Atlanta, GA
Nothing on FedEx or UPS yet with any phone number or order number

The local hub for my location is about 10 minutes from my house. As soon as it says it is there I am going to go up there and just be like "yea, I need to pick up a package" Maybe I Will get lucky.

And I have a couple friends that work there soo..

But I still doubt it works.. I will be waiting till Friday just like every one else.
 
2:19am central time pre-order. delivery 9/21

kinda angry...all these people getting preparing for shipment and I'm still processing :eek::eek::eek:. Anyone else out there with a first 30 min pre-order still sitting at processing like me?
 
No matter what Phone number I gave it didn't give me any tracking. I tried the apple order number and it came up. Try w plus first 7 numbers of your apple order number like previously stated
 
Which is faster, pre order or store.

I live close to a apple store . Plan to get a 64 gb. Pre order says ships in 2 to 3 weeks. Should I take my chances at a store the first few days or pre order one?

Haha yeah same here and I just looked it up on UPS and my order is doing what it is supposed to so I think we are set.. and no no email between Processing and Preparing for Shipment.. I believe just between the Preparing and actually shipping

A store will be faster, but will involve waiting in lines. 9/21 will likely be the worst, but if previous years are any indication, the first 2-3 weeks will still see relatively long waits for the iPhone in stores. See if Apple does a reservation system like last year. They didn't on launch day 2011 and they haven't planned one for 2012, but depending on how crazy things get (or not), they might put one into place.

Of course, we can always hope that Apple has flooded the stores with iPhones the same way they did with iPads in March. Pre-orders sold out quickly, but stores were loaded with stock and so lots of people bought them in store and then cancelled their delayed pre-orders.

NYC for me. Your billing number is the phone number attached to your credit card on your Apple account, as opposed to your wireless number (try your home number). Alternatively, use your order number (W#######). If there are more than 7 digits after W, just use the first 7.
 
Is this right?

So I went to UPS and typed in my order number (with the W) but without the last 2 digits and it came up with this... is this right? says its shipping to WA which is not where I am at all and also says the product is "World Ease"

Ordered 4 of them between 3:29 and 3:40 EST in separate orders. One of them I used a separate Apple ID and shipping address (changed via ATT website). I used the same credit card for all 4.

The one that was separate and first went preparing for shipment first followed shortly by the one I ordered third. I've been pondering why the other two (orders 2 and 4) haven't gone to prep for shipment. Thought it may have had to do with Apple saying "Limit 2 Per Customer".

Anyway, the last two went to preparing for shipment in the last hour. Looks like all is good in the world.
