air not Air

Argh, why does everyone insist on capitalizing air, when Apple hasn't in their banners.

If the slogan were, "Something in the Air", then it would almost deffinately synch some furtherance of their Air branding already used for AirPort and AirTunes. "Something in the air", is a much more generic phrase that could just be talking about the hype, buzz, and energy surrounding this year's conference and keynote.

There's something in the air alright....money......ours.

This is what this entire keynote is about, I promise you. New ways for us to over pay for the same content, albeit with refined "convenience."

Is this the new Apple font? There is certainly an emphasis on thin!

Nice to see they're still thorough...

Agreed. In the air...

-Music
-HD Movies
-Wi-fi
-Wireless paying/ordering
-Sending/Syncing (PAN?)
-Controlling
-Induction Charging?
-The smell of new Apple products fresh out da box?
-Rumors or a stupid sub-notebook name
-The rush of elevator doors opening soon to reveal an amazing new REAL product tucked half unboxed in the corner

what does this image have to do with the USA?

i think the poster was trying to reflect how USA seems to get these sorts of things first. The website re-design was months apart for our two website, and considering you americans speak english, we should get the same images and product information as you!

This actually is not true. Though we both speak "English", UK English is different enough from US English that localization work must be done before content can be released for the UK Market.

Secondly, due to taxes and other import regulations, it takes additional time to prepare products for the UK market.

Therefore one should not expect US and UK products or websites to have simultaneous launches.

Better

this was better

I'm thinking EVDO

The more I think about it, the more an on-board EVDO card in a super-thin Macbook starts to make sense and certainly fits the "air" theme.

It's not our fault you can't spell colour or honour correctly now, is it? :p

I hope people know that apple has registered loads of domain names such as macbookcar.com etc that are all completely unrelated. Not to try and put a downer on things... I'm just interested in iPhone storage and apple tv personally...

I'm thinking it's something US only at least at first, i'm vouching for WiMax / New mobile comms network from apple all tied in to wireless everything across the product line, including a new ultra portable. (bar some of the pro boxes that need wired bandwidth)

What would be cool is to be able to use my iphone as the most pimping remote control you've ever seen...

air is lighter than Air? :D

Not in the air, but ultraportable

okay probably won't happen but i do hope there is an ultraportable.

Air is a device which acts as what would be called a media server. Acts as your media bridge, removing sync cables for iPod / iPhone. Everything becomes functional over the "Air".

Mac mini is discontinued and replaced by Air. (Steve addresses the reduced need of the Mac mini anymore, due to the reduced prices of iMac in earlier keynote point.)

Dimensions are roughly the same as a mac mini. But in :apple:TV style enclosure. Unit is a merge of the two devices, using processor, PSU and Hard Drive from the former Mac mini.

Designed to sit by the side of your TV and has same functionality as :apple:TV had. (though, can function stand alone without the front row interface. Just works as a bridge for your products and is configured via Itunes.

With added functions as iTunes Media Store built in and slingplayer functionality same as the current Youtube function.

Ability to playback HD video content downloaded from iTunes Media Store. (which is the "one more thing", Please note name change of Store)

Wireless content syncing with iPod Touch and iPhone.

USB connectivity for universal dock for other iPod product lines.

500gb internal drive. Ability to use as a wireless network drive via Mac or PC.

Shipping 31st Jan.
Price $499

enjoy tomorrow people.

Yet every time an American says "we both speak English," a UK-er says, "No no no. You speak 'American English.' BIG difference!!!"

Make up your mind! ;)

I used to get excited as a child on Christmas Eve. It made for a long night. Now it's Stevenote eve and I get the same feeling.

Fricken Tuesday come on already! I need a new Mac pronto!

Unless they plan on selling the entry-level iMac for around 600$CAD, there's no chance this will happen.

Unless this new box can also be used as a regular Mac desktop (unlike the :apple:TV).
