As has already been pointed out, your two examples aren’t applicable.

The funniest thing is - if Apple WOULD have won the rights to airing a sequel series of Friends... This forum would be unbearable with people saying “Apple can’t come up with its own ideas and content so they just buy old material...” so on and so on.

I was relieved to hear they aren’t planning on just rebirthing old series.

In college, I watched on the order of 2-3x more Dell and HP computers go into the trash. My roommate went through 3 his first year. I no longer use my first Apple laptop, but guess what, I still have it almost 15 years later - and it works. It’s an easy target to claim just because it’s Technology, it ends up in the trash, but Apple products have a way of living long enough lives or even multiple lives with second and third owners. So, don’t get quite so excited.

I still have a lime and a tangerine iMac in the attic. And my adult daughters still like playing some old games on a lampshade iMac.

It’s still that bad? I was thinking about moving from my 2017 Air to this. The reviews I’ve seen seem to praise the keyboard — still issues?
I was referring to the 2016 MBP. It’s terrible. The new one seems to be fantastic, and the key travel is back almost to normal on that one.

To quote The Dude... That’s just like your opinion, man.

And because it was pointed out by you or your ilk doesn’t mean it’s not applicable. I really don’t give a rat’s behind what the fanboys on this site think of my opinion.

Then I don’t see the reason to post or read a forum. I actually do care what your opinion is. Often times I get more insight in the comments than the articles on macrumors. I just happen to disagree with you. Which is why I posted - which is what a forum is.

I disagree because one series you pointed out isn’t on Apple TV and the other is, as others have said, an anthology.

Call me a fanboy, which isn’t necessarily true but calling a company’s CEO a liar for untrue facts on a forum about that company sounds like hating.

2 pages of this thread is whining rebuttals about Apple products not about the shareholders meeting.

Can anyone translate what the first two items were spoke about on this agenda please?

Apple's annual shareholders meeting took place this morning at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus, and while most of the focus was on shareholder proposals, Apple executives in attendance did have a few interesting tidbits worth sharing.

Shareholders meetings have limited space and shareholders need to register in advance to attend, but multiple people who were there shared details about the meeting on Twitter.

During his opening remarks, Apple CEO Tim Cook commented on the ongoing coronavirus outbreak that has caused Apple to lower its March revenue forecast due to device shortages and store closures in China.

Cook said that the outbreak is a "fairly dynamic situation" and that it is causing "a challenge" for Apple. He went on to say that Apple's first priority is the health and safety of its employees. "That's where our energies are," he said.

Cook was asked why Apple didn't make an effort to get the rights to the upcoming Friends reunion show that's going to be on HBO Max when it launches in May 2020. Cook said that recycled content is "not what Apple TV+ is about." Apple TV+ is "about original programming," said Cook. "It doesn't feel right for Apple to just go out and take a rerun."

During the meeting, Cook confirmed Apple's plans to open an online store in India in 2020 and a retail store in 2021. Apple has been working for years to establish a presence in India.

On the topic of the environment, Cook reiterated a goal that Apple executives have mentioned many times in the past. Apple's aim is to "create an Apple product without taking anything from the earth" as part of a closed-loop supply chain, which is why Apple has established robust recycling methods. "This is one of those things people say you can't do. We're going to find a way to do it," he said.

Other Apple executives were in attendance, and software chief Craig Federighi commented on iPadOS after Tim Cook was asked about iPad software being behind iPad hardware. "If you like what you've seen us do with iPadOS, stay tuned, we're going to keep working on it," he said.

As for voting on proposals, which primarily focused on standard business like electing directors, ratifying a public accounting firm, and approving executive compensation, votes went in Apple's favor and voters sided with Apple's recommendations.

Apple recommended against three shareholder proposals that were not approved, including a proxy access amendment calling for a second shareholder-approved board nominee, a proposal for a report evaluating the feasibility of including sustainability metrics into compensation plans provided to executives, and a proposal asking for a report on whether Apple "has publicly committed to respect freedom of expression as a human right."

“..feasibility of including sustainability metrics into compensation plans provided to executives”

what exactly were they asking for here? I don’t even get it?

Some way to condition executive pay on Apple achieving progress on (environmental) sustainability (reducing waste And environment impacts, energy conservation, reducing carbon, etc)

Tim was asked about recycling AirPods. His long reply was about Apple’s admirable efforts in recycling but he avoided speaking directly about AirPods.

Oh, right ~ my mistake ~ I saw the ‘16’ in ‘2016’ and my mind went to 16” MBP. Thanks for pointing out. I was starting to panic.

Apple would do far more for the environment if they didn't make all their portables nearly impossible to upgrade and/or fix by end users. Replaceable SSD and user upgradeable RAM for one. And the biggest one being user replaceable battery. They could at least not make the batteries glued in so it is at least somewhat easier for people to replace.

I'm very thankful they created iPadOS - looking forward to what they do with it.

And I have to say - I work in the IT industry, and I'm grateful Apple have the money to explore trying to use existing materials and recycle them. So much waste in our industry - from plastic bags, tags, styrofoam, packing foam, throwing out cables and computer parts that have copper, gold and aluminum in them. It always affects my conscience.

And before everyone chimes in and says that you can recycle most of those things - I try to - I'm talking about the global IT industry and its contribution to unnecessary things getting put in landfills.

One of the silliest non sequiturs I've seen here. But, it did provide a vehicle for you to descend from the heavens with your righteous indignation, so I guess it served a purpose.

You guys are missing the obvious. You know how for decades people would say, "We can put a man on the moon, yet we can't do such and such." Well, Apple has rightfully deserved a sort of reverse take on this sort of thing: Anything Apple now does of merit will be met with "Apple can do such and such, yet they can't give us a working laptop keyboard after 4 years." And Apple fully deserves this - it shows there's no gate keeper at Apple that can catch something as basic as a poor keyboard, and it shows that Tim Cook's supply line takes about 5 years to steer. Something broken? We'll address it in the next generation. Very Microsoft-esque.

MacRumors Bot now has this reply inserted along with "Android's had this for years", "this would never have happened under Steve Jobs", etc, etc. And IMO there's nothing wrong with such points: even though they will apply to almost anything Apple does by definition, that doesn't make them wrong.

But of course, we also have to show the positive - what Apple's doing that's right, to encourage them.

What if you DON'T like what we've seen you do???
