tracing

i do much photo tracing and image manipulation and can see advantages for those applications but not really for others. having it in the screen would be great but only if the screen went horizontal: vertical would be draining and too figety i think.

You make an interesting point which is certainly a great point for discussion.. but to be honest, my worst nightmare would be navigating around a frustrating OS like vista (one presumes windows 7 will be vista like also) with just my bare hands.
However, I understand your frustration with not being able to have an Apple touch screen computer, as they would probably make a kick-ass one. I have faith that Apple's product innovation is still there, especially with Johnny Ive around.

Home on your iPod was supposed to be a nice addition to the OS and steadily growing iPod fan base. It would have been very welcomed, but it wasn't as much of a let down as AirDisk syncing and resolution independence.

Does anyone think we will EVER see RESOLUTION INDEPENDENCE?

My advice is, don't blindly by anything as you say you have been with Apple. Choose the right tool for your job.

Windows 7 looks interesting, but I truly believe it will not be near as elegant as OS X. Still it looks good. Windows need to support so much hardware and indeed the registry itself automatically handicaps it. There is great advantage in Apple's closed system.

Regardless I am sure I will use that OS also.
