Hi guys, I found this on reddit which gives a visualisation of the size comparison to the MacBook - looks like questionable however I'm more inclined to believe its the aspect ratio of the camera.

But look how much thicker the table is in the small photo, which suggests it is much closer to the camera. Really, the 60 minutes laptop looks closer to 17" than 12". But perhaps it is just distortion by the camera; pretty extraordinary illusion, if that's the case.

I think most are missing the most surprising fact;

That this is (I think) the first time Apple has actually jumped so quickly to dismiss a speculation... Anything to back that up? Even with the stolen iPhone 5 they didn't say a word.
I didn't think about that until now. Usually even if people were dead wrong, Apple didn't give a damn. They just let people roll with it (probably figuring it would build excitement) but for them to actually dismiss a rumor...that's new

I don't believe them.

For those who don't think it's a 12 inch, why is the keyboard nearly edge to edge? If you look up 14 inch iBook, there are speakers on the sides with the keyboard centered. Even the 13 inch air has room on the sides. The only way this could be bigger than 12 inches is if they made the keyboard bigger which they have never done.

Looks like a 14/15" version of the Macbook. I'm typing this on a 13 rMBP 2015 and I have within my sight a Gold 12" rMB and that device looks too big to be the 12 and even bigger than the 13.
Guess it's product placement to get us going. Could see Apple doing it, as yeah no way in hell is that 12 or even thirteen inches...looks nice tho ;)

Surely it was a planned "mistake" since no one's better at smoke and mirrors trickery than Apple.

You don't grow a company to the massive size of Apple... Complete with it's own cult like following... Without lots of influence over the customers in their user base and target market.

This carefully choreographed live product promotional puff piece, is the result of painstaking effort on both Apple's part and that of the network that got lots of viewers by hosting this grand expose.

Steve may be gone, but Apple's legacy of circus like productions lives on.

Apple wins big once again.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't care about thinner anymore. Just give me better battery life and I'll love you long time!
And how much thicker and havier do you want your iPhone to be? Three times for up to three days battery life. Would that solve all your problems or create new ones. Battery life will only increase when new screens and CPUs use much less energy.

This thread is comical. I'm literally laughing my ass off. This is as bad as everyone trying to decipher the graphics of the Apple Event invitations.

Sorry, but I'm taking it face value. At face value, there's no way that's a 12" Macbook. The camera distortion would have to be horrible for it to create a distortion like that.

Not addressed to me. Just thinking in regards to phones, it still seems like an okay idea to just keep them at their current thickness and if I want three days battery life to just buy a case that will do so. Likely a better idea them having a base phone that is a brick.

As for laptops they could have at least one laptop option with some power and battery without worrying about it being thin as a knife.

Nice touch having the guy fondling the phone getting caught at the end. Wouldn't the guy shouting at him have been speaking Chinese though...?
Not necessarily because that dude might be able to speak Chinese for one, and hey is just a hey. Many Chinese say hey. But either way it's total BS in the sense that it's staged. Could be a real phone but it's definitely a staged video for viral etc.

The one thing that got me giddy is the absence of a home button. Steve wanted that since the first iPhone. And edge to edge?! Wow.

I own a 12" Macbook. That is definitely not a 12" screen behind him.

Yeah, the screen looks bigger than 12", more like 14-15" (I'm leaning toward 15"). Either it's a new MacBook Pro using a similar design to the 12" MacBook or maybe a new 15" MBA with retina display. It looks like something new and fresh to salivate/envy over for 2016. As for the iPhone 7 "leak", even if it's fake, I think there's a good chance of the iPhone 7 looking similar with Touch ID/home button missing/integrated into the display. As for it being thicker, maybe Apple realized that was the only way to give the 7 good battery life with the ongoing limitations of current battery tech. It does remind me a lot of current Android phones.

I own a SONY VAIO FW with a 16" display which I'm planning to replace soon and that display looks about the same size. Maybe it's a unusual distortion with the photo, but if the next new MacBook Pro/MBA looks like that, then it will be confirmed that Apple either screwed up or maybe intentionally placed it there for some unknown reason, then lied about it.

I certainly hope that doesn't represent anything the iPhone 7 ends up looking like. It looks more like a Samsung Galaxy rip-off.

To the people who are saying there's no chance apple would leave out an unreleased model. People make mistakes... ask Miss Universe ;)

We all know what is coming anyway. All the MacBooks Pros will look like the MacBook, and MacBook Air will be phased out.

Even if it was a new model what would that even tell us? It will have a keyboard, a screen and look like a laptop... Mind blown.
It would tell us a new, interesting, 14-15" MacBook is going to be released... maybe

Does anyone really believe Apple, a company obsessive about being secretive, would have an unreleased product hanging around an executive conference room and would forget to remove it before CBS film crews showed up? The same Apple that had sheets covering up tables in the design studio so we couldn't see what was on them. Really?
You are right. But that doesn't seem to be a 12" MacBook...

The base below the KB looks very different to me ... ... ... let alone the sharp corners and the bezel... ... ...
Agree, especially for the bezel. It doesn't seem the same notebook....

Isn't it possible it's the video, camera angle and aspect ratio making it look different? Again, no one at Apple is going to forget to remove a prototype from that conference room before CBS cameras start filming. Second, if it was some prototype that Apple intentionally wanted to slip in why would they come out and say it's the 12" MacBook? Why not say nothing and let the internet continue to speculate?

Let's imagine for a minute that this is a prototype for the next iPhone.
It doesn't seem likely at all, because there is no true tone flash, no touch ID and there is a headphone jack :D
