Apple has confirmed to Tech Insider that the notebook pictured behind Apple general counsel Bruce Sewell during the 60 Minutes special Inside Apple is the 12-inch MacBook released in April, debunking some users on Reddit and social media who speculated the notebook could be an ultra-thin MacBook Pro.
Really? Is it a real 12inch MB? I thought it was a wood model with paint and/or stickers, because, honestly, I seriously doubt there're any real Macs still at Apple. Not a single Mac rumor for months now.

Hi guys, I found this on reddit which gives a visualisation of the size comparison to the MacBook - looks like questionable however I'm more inclined to believe its the aspect ratio of the camera.

I don't know guys. It looks like the exact same thing and like someone said, the telephoto lens+angle just made it look different. And the fact that the keyboard is "made to fit the edges perfectly" on the 12 inch MacBook, the keys on this prototype would have to be HUGE! Check it out
I was just going to say it looks too big to be a 12" rMB even with tele lens compression, but seeing the picture you posted, I think you're right. Besides it would really be shocking if Apple let a prototype leak in this fashion. And I was just going to take out my camera to take a shot of my rMB to see how big in looks at 200mm. No need now.

Any nobody questions what's under the sheets? A circular Mac Mini in the works? Seems smaller than a Mac Pro. I believe the Mac Pro is at the back.
This is almost parody, it's pulling so much out of nothing.

It's literally just a shape under a cloth, for all we know it's a pen-pot or where Jony stores his sweets at work.

To me, this basically confirms Apple's story. It's the camera angle. The two images look pretty similar.

The thing that strikes me the most is the bottom casing of the 'new' MacBook.

There is very little air gap between the leading edge and the desk (based on the shadow). The 12" rMB has more of a gap between the leading edge and the desk and more of a shadow.

This makes me suspect a different design. However, the fact it's a Space Grey model may make the shadow less pronounced.

I think most are missing the most surprising fact;

That this is (I think) the first time Apple has actually jumped so quickly to dismiss a speculation... Anything to back that up? Even with the stolen iPhone 5 they didn't say a word.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't care about thinner anymore. Just give me better battery life and I'll love you long time!
Battery life is_not_that important to Apple. Yet they do give it lip service to satiate the faithful.

It's all about squeezing every last penny of profit out. That's the Apple Way :D

When I first saw the video I was like "This macbook seems quite BIG and certainly more than 12 inches".

Its seems that the screen is at least 2 meters away from Bruce Sewell and from that distance, 12 inches should be quite smaller....
You're actually trying to gauge distance from a 2D picture? That don't impress me much.

If Apple is the only company in the world that's out to make a profit then capitalism doesn't stand a chance.

Just checked to see if it could have been lens distortion causing the different ratio; doesn't appear to be any. I'd guess they're shooting with a 50mm lens (or near that), there shouldn't be distortion anyways, in that case.

While I doubt they'd have them on tape, what's wrong with the notion of a custom computer? I mean, I can build my own computer from scratch. You have the right components laying around, and a few orders of machined aluminum, why can't this be done?

Doesn't mean it is a prototype for any product, ever. And that's assuming there isn't something strange with the lens/angle. I mean, did you know Goldeneye 007 had cheat codes in it that weren't supposed to be public to be used in testing? No, really! ...

if the new pros come out in space grey ill totally buy one. mine is starting to run a bit slow, and I'm not sure if I could resist seeing a new one in that dark black.

The video is laughable. The image however that screen looks awfully large for a 12" Macbook, to be honest I would guess it looks more like an iPad Pro with keyboard, but the screen size looks around 15". Could be an illusion, they say the camera adds 10lbs.

The biggest non-story ever. It's called product placement. That shot would have been preplanned to include the MacBook in the background. They wouldn't have then used an unreleased model.

Two things I'm certain are true. 1. That wasn't a 12" MB. Look at the darn bezel. 2. The covered tables with Ive was pure theater. Secret projects aren't covered with sheets so the camera can see them. That is, unless you want the host to ask about them so you can tell him they're secret.

The sheets are probably to keep the dust off the surface.
