And the implementation of this thing continues to suck. Well done, Apple, well done indeed.

It’s really telling how they just happened to sell the new iPhone without a charger and a new wireless charging accessory just happens to come out without a charger either. Money money money. Environment my ass.

it’s a mess. Now I need to take like three different chargers and bricks on vacation because the iPad cable doesn’t charge the iPhone yet the iPhone brick doesn’t fit the iPad cable and then there is the Apple Watch cable that doesn’t fit my new usb-c charger either

Not including a charger has nothing to do with the environment. Next to iPhone revenue, services revenue, Mac revenue and so on there will be a "Charger revenue" in Apple's global revenue report from 1st quarter 2021.

Everybody already has the right power brick at home, right?

The Duo should have come with a power adapter - simple.

Crazy that it doesn’t come with any brick at all for the price Apple is charging.

Well I suppose they could have alleviated these type of issues by INCLUDING A 5¢ charger with a $129 device that REQUIRES a charger.

It’s amazing that a charger doesn’t come with... gasp... a charger😂 Should be $129 for everything

They wouldn’t have to make all these statements on compatible charging bricks if they had just included one in the box.

Oh come on guys, give it a rest already.

It's really not that complicated. There are compact 60W chargers with both USB-A and USB-C ports. That and two cables to Lightning and USB-C will take care of charging iPad Pro, iPhone, keyboard, mouse, and MacBook Pro.
For the Watch you would probably need a different cable, I don't know since I don't have one.
Ironically you are posting your complaint on a story about the Duo Charger that would potentially alleviate your pain about requiring different cables for phone and watch.

How the hell have they managed to screw up an accessory so bad? It doesn't work out of the box without another expensive purchase, support docs out of date on launch. Really shooting themselves in the foot.

Apple: We don't provide chargers because of Green Environment and people have too many of those already
Also Apple: Sorry our products do not work with old chargers. But its ok because as long as the 'greens' go to our bank account, we don't really care about the Environment.

while I are they should have added on in the box the 18w brick I use is perfectly fine....I certainly do not need super fast charging when it's charging at night.

What a fustercluck! Even more reason to stick to the Qi charging pad I already have.
Fustercluck?!? Hahaha, tnx. Didn’t know that one.
But in the past I never would use wireless charging because of the alignment and therefor efficiency issues.
magsafe does solve that. So a bit grumbling i spend the money for one. I had a (well, 4, don’t ask) 29W charger around, so no problem.
and it is nicely made, Durable aluminium with a cable that is ging to break.
But a magsafe for 45 and a watch charger for 30?! So that is 55 for a plastic wrapping? I don’t mind spending disposable income, but 55 on a plastic wrapper?

Which is going to wrinkle, and possibly breaking the connection to the Magsafe portion over time.

It's like Apple selling you a $129 magnet paper.
sure if you are trying to break it...people who look after their things this certainly will not happen.

Nope. Sorry. Apple is selling the Duo for $130. You can buy the MagSafe charger and an Apple Watch charger separately for $70. You can buy those two chargers plus a 20W power brick and a 5W power brick (for the novel experience of being able to plug them in to wall outlets) and STILL pay less at $110.

When you consider that the Duo costs $20 MORE than buying the chargers PLUS the wall bricks separately, I think it’s perfectly legitimate to criticize it for not coming with a wall brick. I didn’t even get into all the other limitations of the Duo that make its price even more absurd (can’t charge the iPhone at full MagSafe speed, only works with certain power bricks, and will wrinkle if folded too many times).

Never really cared much for wasteful wireless charging. More power in, less power out. I'll stick to wires. I have a couple of wireless pads from when I thought "well that's cool" and yeah, they mostly just sit in a box somewhere.

Not trying to break it. Just normal wear and it'll break because the soft, thin elastic silicone connecting both sections. Magsafe will stop working after that. For the price I'd expect it to last longer.

Again I don’t see how something that will likely be be used more often than not by a bedside will suddenly break after a matter of years.

certainly when people don’t travel every single day well most don’t. Mine will stay on my bedside table pretty much every night and never move until I travel at some point so I really don’t see how it will get damaged at all.

If it was made of leather im sure it could look like a mess but silicone? I can’t see it
