It’s a feature so after you dusted you know we’re it should go back.

Seriously fake news no company is dum enough to make a gadget that is intended to be placed around the home on all kinds of surfaces and it marks them.

So they couldn't have used a more inert material on the bottom of the homepod? This is what R&D and QC are for, to avoid silly things like this.

Is this a huge, monumental issue? Not really, but this is one of those attention to detail things that Apple used to be a lot better at, and it doesn't do much against the argument that Apple has been slipping a bit lately.

my airport extreme doesn't leave marks on wood furniture.

That’s right be all doom and gloom over this... “Apple should have done this, should have done that” and ignore the post about 4 above that says “my Sonos play:1 does the exact same thing to my wooden desk.”

It simply amazes me how some people on this forum only see what they want to and ignore everything else.

not something you want to see if it was an expensive piece of furniture
TBH, if one places anything on an expensive piece of furniture without at least a cloth/coaster of some sort, then one is being a bit of an idiot.

I think the problem is not that object X can damage a polished/waxed surface but rather that the idiocracy are taking over :(

In either case, my dear old Mum would not have approved:)

Based on Apple's recent track record of releasing mediocre products, it may be warranted. Mark my words, unless there is a major shakeup in management and talent, Apple will begin to decline to Sony levels in 5 to 7 years. Remember how hot and untouchable Sony was back in the day? Then they started releasing crap products with little innovation and poor quality control, just like Apple is starting to do. Just you wait.
Hah, "5 to 7 years"? Way to put your reputation on the line there...

Only if it's not your expensive wood table. In the mean time, the big virtual sticker on the box "not for use on wood furniture," could prevent a few sales. Given how "revolutionary" this product is said to be kind of odd Apple didn't bother figuring out how to make furniture safe feet for wood, something that is about as low tech as you can get.

This product is successful, it has a opinions like a sine wave and now it has a gate associated..

its not all wooden furniture, only certain finishes and it is a fairly common issue with silicone. still, a little surprising that apple either missed this or chose to stick with the material knowing the potential reaction. there will be HomePod coasters within days. twelve south will have one for 49.99 :p
